When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster
Chapter 28: She Won’t Like You
CHAPTER 28: CHAPTER 28: SHE WON’T LIKE YOU
"Grandpa found a guru to predict my marriage," Adrian Lancaster’s deep voice carried a hint of helplessness. "He said that on the 15th of last month, the first girl he met when he went out was destined to be mine."
The man turned his gaze towards her.
"???" Faye Turner was a bit confused. Could it be this mysterious?
He also found it absurd but remained curious, "So Faye, what were you doing that day?" His deep eyes locked onto hers, not allowing her to lie.
Facing his gaze, the girl began to recall, and a scene flashed in her mind—
It was an ordinary morning, and she went out for her usual morning jog.
She heard someone shout about catching a thief and saw a man clutching a bag running towards her. Without thinking, she stretched out her leg, intending to trip him.
At that moment, a righteous cane extended from nowhere, teaming with her outstretched foot, perfectly tripping the thief.
That’s how she and Grandpa Lancaster heroically met for the first time.
Sitting in the back seat of the Lamborghini, Adrian Lancaster stared at her intently, noting from her expression that she had recalled something.
"Grandpa is old; he trusted the guru’s words." Adrian withdrew his gaze, leaning back gently, placing his hands behind his head, and closed his eyes.
Faye couldn’t think of what to say; such a marriage was indeed ridiculous.
After a while, Faye gathered her courage and softly spoke, "Adrian, there’s something I’d like to ask you for help with."
He didn’t respond, nor did he open his eyes.
But the girl knew he could hear her.
So, she softly continued, "I want my adoptive father and mother to divorce. It’s also my adoptive mother’s wish. Do you know a good lawyer?"
Adrian Lancaster had an image of Chloe Gable flash in his mind. He frowned slightly, feeling like he’d seen her somewhere before, but couldn’t recall where.
"Adrian?"
The man came back to his senses, replying softly with closed eyes, "I won’t get involved in your family’s affairs."
"..." Faye knew that even if they had a marriage certificate, and even if Grandpa liked her, Adrian Lancaster didn’t like her.
She had no right to ask him for favors, and he had the right to refuse.
As the head of the Prestige Group, how could he have the time to handle her family affairs? He was incredibly busy.
So the girl wisely fell silent.
After a while, Adrian said to her, "My mom wants to see you."
His mom?
He has a mom??
Faye was visibly stunned, turning to look at him.
"You need to prepare yourself mentally. Tonight, we’re having dinner at the family estate."
His deep, silky voice poured into her ears.
So, his mother also lives at the family estate?
With his grandpa?
"Okay." Faye thought, If I absolutely obey him and handle everything to his satisfaction, maybe he’ll help me with the lawsuit?
Faye was very attentive; she smiled and asked, "Does your mom have any particular preferences?"
"You don’t need to put effort into pleasing her," Adrian remained with his eyes closed, "She won’t like you."
"..." Upon hearing this, Faye’s small, face visibly drained of color.
It was Saturday, so the car drove towards Aqua Flora Residences.
After returning home, Adrian went straight to the study.
In the master bedroom, Faye couldn’t calm her mind.
Soon, she would be going with him to the family estate, meeting his mother for the first time, and she didn’t dare to be careless, wanting to make a good impression.
But she knew nothing about the middle-aged woman.
Checking her phone on Baidu, there was absolutely nothing about her online, which was very strange.
Yet Faye put on the goose-yellow dress she had splurged on in Solara, thinking it was her highest-quality outfit.
In the living room, when Adrian saw her and his eyes fell on the bright color, he was reminded of the abruptness she showed in the company lobby on his inauguration day.
She was wearing this same dress.
He frowned, "Don’t you have anything more formal? You changed just for this?"
"Huh?" The girl lowered her eyes, glancing at her outfit, "This is already very nice." Right after speaking, she felt quite embarrassed.
Her taste must definitely be below his.
"Since I gave you the card, I still suggest you buy some outfits suitable for going out. After all, you represent my image as well."
She understood what he meant, "Okay, I’ll go now."
Faye took his card from the room and left by herself.
After learning Adrian Lancaster’s real identity, she was filled with awe towards him and sometimes didn’t even dare to breathe around him.
Faye wanted to please him, didn’t want her mother to worry, and wanted to maintain this marriage.
