CHAPTER 33: CHAPTER 33: POACHING

This answer was somewhat unexpected for Adrian Lancaster.

He pondered for a moment, "Let things take their natural course. Don’t think that having a child can tie me down."

The girl immediately retorted, "Why do you always think the worst of others?"

He didn’t answer, as he had been defensive towards everyone since childhood.

Faye Turner laughed, "Why would I want to tie you down? Although we have a marriage certificate, we haven’t announced it publicly. You’re free!"

Adrian Lancaster heard this and frowned slightly, reminding him of the scene at the hospital where she was peeling an apple for another man.

He turned his gaze, dissatisfied in a steady voice, asking, "Do you have no moral boundaries? What are you planning? An affair while married?"

"No, no! I’m just giving you freedom! So you don’t overthink!" Faye thought he was being too sensitive, "Let me explain, I wouldn’t want to be pregnant! I still need to focus on my career! Pregnancy is really unfriendly to women in professional environments!"

Adrian Lancaster saw her speaking so resolutely, so he let it go.

Faye secretly breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that if the mother-son relationship is so unreliable, is the marriage relationship worth trusting?

She didn’t want to have a child just to become a stay-at-home wife!

She wanted to be a beautiful and wealthy designer! Self-reliant!

That night, Adrian Lancaster was clearly in a bad mood. Once home, he said to her, "You’re sleeping in the guest room tonight."

He clearly was in a bad mood tonight, even when forced into marriage he wasn’t this dejected.

Reconsidering the events of this afternoon, Faye came to this conclusion—

Adrian Lancaster actually cared a lot about this mother-son relationship. His mood had reached an extreme low, and he wanted to hide it from her, hence throwing her out.

Adrian Lancaster’s face was exceptionally handsome, with pale skin and noticeably a faint dark circle under his eyes.

He hadn’t slept well these two nights.

The elevator doors closed, and it began its ascent.

Even though Ivy had followed the CEO for years, every time she saw him, every moment alone with him, she was still captivated by his charm, her heart still raced.

She once thought that performing excellently in work would make the CEO notice her more, but he only ever gave her a raise, without a hint of romantic interest.

This led Ivy to mistakenly believe the CEO wasn’t interested in romance, so she was willing to wait.

Until the unremarkable Faye Turner appeared, Ivy was completely shaken, feeling as though her territory had been invaded.

Upon arrival upstairs, she collected her thoughts, and the two entered the CEO’s office, where they were somewhat surprised by inside.

"Dustin Shepherd, why are you here?"

"Didn’t the doctor advise you to rest at home for a few more days?" Adrian Lancaster’s voice was gentle as he walked toward his desk.

Dustin was happy to see them, "Good morning, CEO. Being idle at home is just idle, and besides, it’s only one hand that’s injured. I’m here to help Ivy with some work, so she won’t be so tired."

Adrian Lancaster didn’t think much of it, he had to prepare for the morning meeting.

Dustin’s reason for coming to work was straightforward, he wanted to stay closer to his First Love!

Unable to see Faye Turner, he felt a longing in his heart. After all, the heavens let them reunite, he felt this was the beginning of a new relationship, one he had to seize!
