When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster
Chapter 39: Who Said I Was Falling for You?
CHAPTER 39: CHAPTER 39: WHO SAID I WAS FALLING FOR YOU?
"This is a product. You have to design it to satisfy the customer." Adrian Lancaster was uncharacteristically patient and did not drive her away.
But Faye Turner blurted out, "No, I just want to design it to satisfy you!"
The man raised an eyebrow, "Why?" and emphasized again, "I’ve told you, you don’t need to please me, I won’t fall in love with you."
"What are you thinking?" the girl was anxious, "Who’s falling in love with you?"
The man looked at her, and the girl explained, "Because your heart is as hard as a rock. If this piece can move you, is there any worry that the customers won’t like it?"
Faye Turner then laughed and said, "Just because they like you, they’ll surely like the products you like! What do you think?"
"So you’re bribing me, trying to get something out of me?" Adrian Lancaster understood, "Why call it love at first sight, are you, as my wife, wanting to know something about my past, or are you asking purely from a designer’s perspective?"
Why was he so displeased!
"What else?" the girl chuckled, not noticing his emotion, "You designed it for your first love, right? Did you fall for her at first sight? Then why didn’t you marry her?"
As she threw out one question after another, Adrian Lancaster’s thick eyebrows knitted tighter, obviously unhappy.
"..." The girl’s heart skipped a beat, quickly retracting her gossipy gaze.
He calmly put down his fork, took out his phone, found a picture, and handed it to her, "Do you know this person?"
The girl looked up, "Mr. Mark?" she was a bit puzzled.
Adrian Lancaster looked at her for a full ten seconds without saying anything, quietly retracting his phone while eating dessert, "Does Mr. Mark like to eat this?"
"No, no, no." Faye Turner shook her head, "I haven’t made this for him."
Adrian Lancaster was startled, looking up at the girl sitting opposite, "Doesn’t he like ’Sun-Kissed Sweets’?"
Faye Turner smiled prettily, "’Sun-Kissed Sweets’ is a broad concept, each one is different, but they’re all handmade by me, kind of like a blind box."
This answer... was a bit unexpected for him.
"How did you know I make Sun-Kissed Sweets?"
"I didn’t know, but I knew he liked them." Adrian Lancaster’s tone was calm.
The girl told him, "Mr. Mark hasn’t tried this one, so Mr. Lancaster, you’re very honored to taste the one and only dessert in the world today."
"Do you make a special recipe for him every time you make dessert?" Adrian Lancaster asked again, "Why does he prefer ’Sun-Kissed Sweets’?"
"Did you investigate me?"
"I was investigating him."
The girl thought for a moment and replied, "Because ’Sun-Kissed Sweets’ can treat insomnia. Mr. Mark doesn’t sleep well, I added herbal medicine for insomnia treatment, so after you eat this dessert, you’ll sleep better tonight too."
"Herbal medicine?"
"Yes."
Adrian Lancaster was a bit serious, "Can you casually add medicine?"
"Who said I added it casually?" Faye Turner retorted, "I’ve studied traditional Chinese medicine and understand pharmacology."
The man looked at her, half-believing, "You can go out first, I have a video meeting to start."
She knew he wasn’t going to share the story behind ’love at first sight.’ Oh well, she wouldn’t force him.
Thus, she turned to leave. After eating her dessert, it seemed the relationship had become a bit closer.
After Faye Turner left, Adrian Lancaster put down his fork.
First, he didn’t particularly like eating desserts; second, he had already had a piece at The Fairy Tale Nook earlier.
Faye Turner carried her laptop to the terrace, just sat down on the couch chair, and her phone rang. She took it out and saw it was Grandpa Lancaster calling, quickly answering it.
"Hello, Grandpa."
"Faye, where are you?" the elderly man’s kind voice came through, "Are you both off work?"
"Yes, we’re off work, at home." The girl’s voice was sweet, "Grandpa, how have you been lately?"
"Pretty good, just miss you both." The old man told her, "From this week on, you and Adrian should come back to the old house for dinner every Friday evening, okay?"
