CHAPTER 66: CHAPTER 66: PRESIDENT LANCASTER REFUSES TO BE A KEPT MAN

He picked up his phone to check the time; it was almost eight o’clock.

It was his first time waking up so late on a holiday. He was the kind of person who treated time like life itself and never slept in, not even on weekends.

Opening the bedroom door, Adrian Lancaster heard noises coming from the kitchen and smelled the aroma of dumplings, making his stomach growl uncontrollably.

He was hungry.

Soon, Faye Turner, wearing an apron, came out holding two bowls of steaming dumplings, "You’re up? Go wash up, breakfast is ready."

Her eyes flickered as she walked straight to the dining table, completely forgetting about last night’s events.

Adrian Lancaster didn’t respond and turned to wash up.

Whenever he saw dumplings, he always felt extremely conflicted, recalling some past events he preferred not to mention.

When Adrian Lancaster sat down at the dining table and picked up his chopsticks to eat two mushroom and meat dumplings, the doorbell rang.

Opposite him, Faye looked up at him, startled for a moment, then quickly got up to open the door. Who could it be?

"Grandpa?!" The instant she opened the door, she was a bit surprised, "Come in, please!"

Hearing the voice, Adrian Lancaster turned his eyes to see the spirited old man walked in with a smile, and quickly stood up, "Good morning, Grandpa."

"You made dumplings? They smell so good!" The old man walked inside, leaning on his cane.

Faye held onto his arm, "Yes, yes, have a seat and I’ll cook a bowl for you. You haven’t had breakfast yet, right?"

"I have, but I want to eat a few more. After all, they are handmade by Faye. Grandpa’s a bit greedy."

"Alright, alright, Grandpa, sit down! I’ll cook them right away!" Saying this, the girl let go of the old man, turned to open the fridge, and took the last bag of dumplings to the kitchen.

The old man came to the dining table and handed a bag to Adrian, "It’s an ointment, rub it on your back. I apologize; I was a bit harsh last night, don’t take it to heart."

Adrian Lancaster was quite surprised. As the head of the family, Grandpa was usually stubborn and obstinate, yet he was apologizing?

Bringing it up only made Adrian Lancaster feel a bit awkward, not knowing how to respond for a moment.

It was mainly because Grandpa was particularly satisfied about the fact that they shared a bed last night, with Faye holding her waist coming out of the bedroom this morning.

So, Grandpa was in a good mood and apologized to his beloved grandson.

"Grandpa," Adrian Lancaster seized the moment, taking advantage of his good mood, "I fired Brandon Lancaster."

"Hmm," Grandpa said with a smile, sitting down on a nearby chair, not blaming him, "The company is under your control, you decide. Layoffs are part of the normal process."

From Grandpa’s tone, Brandon had complained to him? Yet Grandpa was not surprised.

But Grandpa didn’t want to intervene?

With Adrian Lancaster’s nod, the topic came to an end.

Soon, Faye came out with a freshly boiled, steaming bowl of dumplings.

Grandpa took the chopsticks and ate with great delight.

Right after breakfast, Grandpa got up to leave, but not before glancing at the surveillance camera and instructing Adrian Lancaster, "You mustn’t turn it off; I want to know about your situation at all times."

It was Adrian Lancaster’s first time being monitored, feeling uneasy but unable to retort.

Faye didn’t say anything, just awkwardly glanced at the man beside her.

After Grandpa left, she received a call from Rachel Sherman, intending to tidy up and head out.

"Faye."

The girl was about to go out when Adrian Lancaster called her back.

She turned her head to ask him, "What is it?"

"Why is there no spending record on the card I gave you?" The man looked at her discontentedly, "This makes me uncomfortable, as if I’m living off someone."

"..." Faye didn’t understand his logic but thought maybe he was too sensitive after eating her dumplings just now.

She thought for a moment and cheerfully said, "Alright, I’ll go shopping with Rachel later, and max out your card!"

With that, she flashed him a smile and then turned to leave.

Adrian Lancaster turned away, expressionless, and tidied up the dishes, then went to the kitchen to wash them, which made Grandpa, who was watching the surveillance, very happy.

After he finished washing the dishes, Grandpa even made a point to call and praise him—

"Men who cherish their wives are good men! Even the God of Wealth will favor you!"
