When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster
Chapter 73: Everyone Has Their Own Agenda
CHAPTER 73: CHAPTER 73: EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN AGENDA
"Sean Downey? Where is he from?" Adrian Lancaster stood by the window, one hand in his pocket, looking out at the deep night, "Where is he now?"
His father’s illness gave Adrian Lancaster a glimmer of hope.
If you find the right person, a veteran folk doctor may be more skillful than experts in big hospitals.
"He went out traveling, he’s from Argent, and currently, I’m afraid no one knows his whereabouts. It is said that he won’t be back for ten or twenty years..."
The light in Adrian Lancaster’s eyes slowly dimmed.
No one knows his whereabouts? Does Faye Turner know?
"President, this person has no apprentices. Unfortunately, there is currently no way to find him."
After the call ended, Adrian Lancaster thought of Faye Turner.
Because that girl once told him that Mr. Mark’s mother was seriously ill, seeking medical help everywhere to no avail, and it was her mentor who cured her.
So, is Faye Turner really Sean Downey’s apprentice?
Why did it come out that he has no apprentices?
Could this girl just be making things up?
But if she were making things up, how would she explain her relationship with Mr. Mark?
"Adrian." At the doorway, Faye Turner knocked on the open door.
By the window in the study, Adrian Lancaster came back to his senses and turned his gaze toward her.
The girl held a box, "I have something I want to ask for your help with."
"I happen to have something to talk to you about too." Adrian Lancaster’s thin lips lightly parted.
Faye walked toward him, feeling a bit nervous due to his inherently strong presence, "What do you want to talk to me about?"
Adrian Lancaster scrutinized her, sensing the heaviness of her thoughts.
So, he made an effort to soften his aura, stepping toward the desk, "You go first."
Seeing him much calmer, the girl spoke directly, "My foster father went to trouble my foster mother again today. I rented a new place for her and my brother, paid half a year’s rent with your card, over eight thousand."
Adrian Lancaster thought of that expense record. He didn’t interrupt but looked up at her, so what else do you need help with?
The girl met his gaze and handed back the necklace box in her hand, "I want to ask you to help my brother transfer schools, enroll in a better one. Let’s just say... I helped you, and you can return the favor. Here’s your necklace back."
She spoke in the tone of someone asking for help, after all, Adrian Lancaster was very busy and had no obligation to deal with her family issues.
Just such a small matter?
Adrian Lancaster looked at the desk, the necklace box she handed over, and studied her again, seeing her tension and unease in her eyes.
She was worried he would refuse and was silently hoping he would show some mercy.
"Keep the necklace." To her surprise, Adrian Lancaster asked her gently, "Which school do you want him to go to? Have you thought about it?"
Faye was very shocked. He agreed to her request without hesitation?
He even pushed the necklace box back toward her.
With this matter settled, she felt a surge of happiness, unable to suppress the smile on her face, "Milo and I thank you!" she said, taking the necklace.
Two meters away, Faye turned and bowed deeply to Adrian from her heart!
Adrian Lancaster’s profound gaze fell on her face. The girl stood under the bright light, with a beauty that was somewhat like a lily blooming in the deep of night, giving a serene and unique feeling.
"When will you help me prepare the medicine?" he asked her softly, "For the burn on my hand."
This also surprised Faye; wasn’t he very resistant before?
She had begged him to use medicine before, pleaded with him to trust her, and now he was the one initiating?
Meeting the man’s earnest gaze, the girl was slightly startled, but quickly delighted, she immediately answered, "Very soon! I’m already working on the first stage of the medication."
"Good." The man nodded, "I’ll wait for you."
His willingness to believe in her made her very happy, and it was also a way to bridge the distance between them.
Although there was no love, and although he would never fall for her, Faye truly wanted to partner up with him and make the best of life.
And Adrian Lancaster was thinking of trying out her medical skills.
If she could really cure the old burns on his arm, that would be enough proof that she was Old Mr. Downey’s apprentice.
That way, there would be hope for curing his father...
