When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster
Chapter 744: Pressured by Father
CHAPTER 744: CHAPTER 744: PRESSURED BY FATHER
Chase Fletcher instinctively pulled Rachel Sherman back a step, frowning as he reached out to block Mrs. Shaw! His protective attitude towards his wife was so firm.
"Eldest Young Master Fletcher, you live in a big villa and are worth a fortune, so don’t meddle in the affairs of us ordinary folks. Rachel isn’t worthy of you!"
Living in a big villa? Worth a fortune?
Rachel turned her eyes to the man beside her. Wasn’t he just an ordinary salaried worker?
Chase Fletcher’s expression changed, "Whether she’s worthy or not is not for you to decide!"
This property is under his company’s name, so he didn’t want to waste words. He directly took out his phone and dialed the property manager’s number—
"What’s going on? Can anyone just sneak into the community and harass residents?" Chase Fletcher angrily described the situation to the person.
The person on the other end finally realized, "Are you... President Fletcher?" They shivered in fear.
He didn’t answer, mentioned the specific floor, and then hung up the phone.
As Mrs. Shaw continued to pester Rachel, the property management arrived just in time.
Seeing Mr. and Mrs. Shaw’s stance, seeing President Fletcher’s dark face, and seeing the things outside the door, they said, "Sorry, apologies, Mr. Fletcher, we really apologize, we’ll handle this immediately!"
Chase Fletcher’s expression was particularly grim!
He and Rachel just watched as Mr. and Mrs. Shaw were taken away by the property people.
"Let go! Let go! This is my home! Why won’t you let us in?"
"Let go of me!!"
The two were taken into the elevator, their voices gradually fading as the elevator door closed.
Rachel held the roses, her mood instantly darkened, but when she turned her eyes to Chase Fletcher, her lips still curved upward, "Sorry, I’ve troubled you again today."
He didn’t speak, just gently pulled Rachel into his arms. He truly felt sorry for this girl.
He knew the sadness behind her smile, understood the kindness hidden in her anger, and knew why she fell silent.
But no matter what happened, he would be there for her.
"Rachel."
Chase Fletcher knew there was still an aunt at home, and he didn’t plan to go in tonight. He said to her, "If you’re sad, just cry. In front of me, you can curse like a shrew or complain like a madwoman."
He also said, "I will never force you to say what you don’t want to, nor will I give useless advice that avoids responsibility. I’ll just be by your side, and you can be your true self."
Rachel was really touched by these words.
Chase Fletcher never put too much pressure on her. He just kissed her forehead and then said to her, "Goodnight," before releasing her.
Rachel looked at him, wanting to ask about his background again.
But she just turned to open the door, and once more looked at him, "Goodnight, drive safe on your way back."
The man nodded gently, his gaze warm, watching her enter the house before he turned and left with peace of mind.
Just as he got downstairs, Chase Fletcher’s phone rang. He took a look; it was a call from his father. Hearing this ringtone, he couldn’t help but think of what his father had said that day.
He answered, and his father’s voice came through, "Chase, have you arranged what I talked to you about that day?"
He knew it referred to the meeting with Rachel.
"Your mom said, bring Miss Sherman home for dinner this Friday; it’s just family entertaining. The ingredients are already being prepared. Does she have any dietary restrictions?"
This would put a lot of pressure on Rachel.
Chase Fletcher wanted to shield her a bit, "Dad, Rachel and I just started dating. Can’t you give us a little more time?"
"It’s just dinner. What’s there to mentally prepare for?" His father’s tone carried a hint of seriousness, "Your mother and I just want to meet her. If you can’t arrange it at home, we’ll invite her out for a simple meal, so don’t blame us if we seem negligent then."
But Chase Fletcher knew, given his parents’ traditional mindset, they were likely to disapprove.
They might even make things difficult for Rachel, making her retreat.
Once she steps into that villa, the entire family background will be exposed.
And being with Rachel, he had persistently pursued her while hiding his identity, to help her take that brave step.
But even with this, she often felt insecure.
