CHAPTER 749: CHAPTER 749: FACING IT TOGETHER

So, a very real problem was now placed right in front of them.

Rachel Sherman calmly raised her eyes and softly asked, "Do your parents know about my situation? Have you hidden anything from them?"

Chase Fletcher knew he couldn’t hide these things, so he didn’t start playing any risky games from the beginning.

He confessed, "My parents know about your situation because... Dylan Shaw’s mother made a scene at my house."

Hearing this, Rachel felt her chest tighten suddenly!

What?

There’s even this?

She couldn’t believe that anything good could come out of her ex-mother-in-law’s mouth, so Rachel’s face changed instantly.

"I was at home at the time too, and I pushed back against all those insults." Chase held her hand tightly and said with much sympathy, "That’s why my dad wants to invite you over for dinner."

Well... this first impression... Rachel felt disheartened, realizing it was Mrs. Shaw who pushed for it; otherwise, there wouldn’t be a dinner invite this soon.

"Rachel, please believe me. My dad may have traditional views, but he knows right from wrong. No matter what, I will stand firm in my choice because I really like you, and I believe they will like you too."

With these words from him, Rachel decided to face it with him; some things are useless to avoid.

In fact, when it came to inviting her home for dinner, Rachel could feel that Chase’s psychological pressure was even greater.

He had to resist his parents and didn’t want her to suffer grievance.

"Okay." Rachel nodded, agreeing very readily, "Then take a look, what kind of gift should I prepare for them? I shouldn’t go empty-handed, right?"

For a first meeting, it’s basic courtesy for the younger generation to bring gifts, so Chase didn’t stop her from spending.

Instead, he helped her plan, "Let me think, choosing the right gift can make a big difference."

"Yes." Rachel looked at him with warm eyes, "We’re not eating out today, right? Let’s go to my place, and I’ll cook for you, then you can help me think it over slowly. I’ll try to be ready by tomorrow."

Actually, for Chase, this was exactly what he wanted.

Visiting her home more often could improve their relationship and also allow him to see more of June, fostering bonding with the child.

So, Chase stepped on the gas and the car moved forward, heading straight to Rachel’s house.

Rachel had a smile on her face, but thinking of Mrs. Shaw’s attitude, she could no longer stand it. How could she make such a fuss at the Fletcher’s?

Hmph!

She better not see that ex-mother-in-law again! Otherwise, she will definitely vent her anger.

Rachel was particularly good at cooking, and just as they got home, the nanny was very happy and briefly updated them about the child’s eating situation today before making an excuse to leave first.

Rachel couldn’t keep her, realizing the nanny wanted to give them more time alone.

When the nanny was changing shoes at the door, she smiled and glanced at Chase, "Mr. Fletcher, Miss Sherman rarely finishes work early, have a good chat."

Chase, being gentlemanly, held June in one arm and waved goodbye to the nanny with his other hand, "Alright, take care."

After the nanny left, he pulled Rachel, who was preparing to enter the kitchen, "Shall I cook?"

"Didn’t you say you wanted to spend more time with June?" Rachel smiled gently and pinched her daughter’s chubby cheek.

"I want to be with the child, but I also don’t want you to be in the kitchen alone," he said sincerely.

Rachel, however, laughed and said, "This is just the right chance for you to taste my cooking, why? Won’t you give me this chance?"

He was actually very happy to eat the meal she cooked, "Then we’ll keep you company at the kitchen door."

"Alright." Rachel turned around, put on an apron, and left.

Chase brought the baby walker to the kitchen door and placed the adorable little June inside, "June, do you remember Uncle?"

June certainly remembered him; she’d had quite a few interactions with him. Although the little one couldn’t speak, every time she saw him, she’d happily wave her arms and kick her feet as if they had a strong connection.

Perhaps this was fate working its mysterious ways.
