CHAPTER 88: CHAPTER 88: YOU ARE THE PATIENT, I AM THE DOCTOR

After finding the right Chinese herbs, she first went to the supermarket to buy mushrooms and ground meat, planning to make dumplings for him at home, as the fridge was already empty.

She also bought some vegetables to prepare dinner.

When Adrian Lancaster returned home, Faye Turner was coming out with freshly cooked dishes in her hands, "You’re back? Hurry up, wash your hands and eat. I’ve made two dishes and one soup, my specialties. Would you like to try?"

"Okay."

He washed his hands and sat down at the dining table, and Faye had already served two bowls of rice, "Is Jami coming over?" She handed him the chopsticks.

Adrian Lancaster paused for a moment and looked up at her, was this cooking an attempt to get some information?

She smiled and explained, "Our director mentioned it in a meeting today, I was just asking casually. It’s okay if it’s inconvenient to answer."

"Yes," he admitted.

"So... how much would it cost to hire him?" In Faye’s eyes, Jami is the pinnacle of the design world, the best designer in France, a legend in the fashion world, her idol.

Adrian Lancaster picked up his chopsticks and said calmly, "Money can’t handle this matter, it depends on the relationship, because he’s not short of money."

Faye nodded, "Would you like to try? I made eggplant green beans with a spoonful of Doubanjiang."

A dish of eggplant green beans, a dish of green pepper stir-fried meat, and a bowl of tomato egg shrimp soup, a simple homemade meal with a warm feeling.

Adrian Lancaster tasted each dish, as he rarely eats such homemade food, he felt it tasted better than gourmet delicacies.

Faye sat down across from him, and though she wanted to ask about Serena Sutton, she hesitated and restrained herself.

As dinner was nearing its end, Faye felt quite accomplished, as he ate two bowls of rice, indicating his approval of her culinary skills.

He was so elegant, not making any noise while eating, his poise ingrained in his very being, and under the soft lighting, there was a touch of homeliness about him.

Adrian Lancaster received a WeChat message, opened it, and saw it was from his grandfather—

[Faye has prepared dinner, you should take the initiative to wash the dishes.]

He held his phone, glanced at the surveillance camera not far away, and felt a mix of emotions. Was there no privacy with grandpa monitoring him every day?

Soon after, another text message came through—

[Privacy is simple to achieve, as long as Faye gets pregnant, I’ll remove the surveillance.]

His grandpa seemed like a mind reader, knowing exactly what he was thinking? Truly, he was a seasoned veteran!

The phone rang twice, but Adrian didn’t respond, and Faye wasn’t aware it was from his grandfather, so she held her chopsticks and looked up at him, asking worriedly, "What’s wrong? Is it about work?"

He snapped back to reality and put down his phone, "It’s nothing, you go ahead and eat, I’ll wash the dishes."

Faye was momentarily surprised, this was unexpected, and she replied with a smile, "It’s okay, you focus on work, I’ll wash the dishes." She assumed something went wrong at work.

Adrian Lancaster looked up and emphasized, "I’ll wash them."

Was he actually competing with her? Taking on household chores voluntarily??

Faye thought for a moment, "All right, since it’s just a few dishes, I’ll go prepare the medicine for you, I’ve already gathered the necessary Chinese herbs."

Adrian nodded, "Thank you."

His politeness actually made her feel a bit distant; she didn’t know that Adrian Lancaster didn’t care whether his arm injury healed.

He wanted to test her medical skills, to see if she could help his father.

Adrian Lancaster tidied up the dining table, washed the dishes in the kitchen, and then returned to his study to work as usual.

Two hours later, Faye appeared at the door with a transparent glass bowl and knocked on the door.

"Come in." He looked up and saw her walking in.

"Roll up your sleeve, I’ll apply the medicine." She placed the bowl with the thick substance lightly on the desk, "Have you finished your work?"

Adrian Lancaster closed his laptop, "Yes," and started to roll up his sleeve.

Faye walked over and helped directly, causing him to instinctively shrink back. She glanced at him, "From now on, you’re just a patient in my eyes, and I’m the doctor. What’s with the shyness?"
