Chapter 893: I Didn’t Try to Take Her Place
CHAPTER 893: CHAPTER 893: I DIDN’T TRY TO TAKE HER PLACE
In front of the Lamborghini, someone opened the car door.
Like a slow-motion scene in a movie, Adrian Lancaster stepped out with his long legs. He wore a black suit, every part perfectly pressed, his features still as deep and chiseled as ever.
"Hello, President Lancaster." The executive and staff who greeted him all bowed respectfully.
The man had a gentle expression, his hands in his pockets as he walked in. His sharp eyebrows and deep eyes, with a straight nose, and thin lips slightly pursed, exuding fatal sexiness. Of course, he had shaved today.
As he passed through the company lobby, he felt a familiar sense of homecoming, followed by a few subordinates, still possessing that innate noble aura.
Upstairs, in the elegantly simplistic president’s office.
Dustin Shepherd and Ivy Jennings were standing in front of the president’s desk, holding a financial report. They finished the last set of data analysis and then signed it.
"It’s done, you’ve really worked hard." Dustin admired her work ability and finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Upon hearing that Adrian Lancaster was coming to the company today, Ivy’s mood became heavy. Wearing a pencil skirt and high heels, she couldn’t help but feel guilty.
The sound of leather shoes from outside approaching made her even more flustered.
When Adrian Lancaster pushed open the glass door and walked into the president’s office, Ivy turned her eyes abruptly, and their gazes collided.
Adrian halted his steps, staring at her with a heavy gaze, visibly displeased! What was she doing here?!
It had been a long time since Ivy had seen him, but it wasn’t out of longing. At this moment, she felt like she was about to be frozen by the surrounding chill.
Her body stiffened a bit, as if her blood had also frozen solid.
The atmosphere in the office was tense and awkward!
Dustin quickly reacted, "Um... Ivy, take this report to Finance." He casually grabbed the report from the table and shoved it into her hands.
Ivy also quickly reacted. She withdrew her gaze, holding the report, looking at the ground as she headed towards the doorway.
The closer she got to the door, the more anxious and uneasy she felt inside.
As she passed by Adrian Lancaster, he grabbed her arm, stopping her in her tracks! The force was so great that she nearly twisted her ankle in her high heels.
"Leave here immediately!" The man’s grip was strong, his eyes cold, and his voice filled with displeasure and warning.
She was hurt by his grip. She turned her eyes to look at his profile, a sudden pain in her heart. Was he going to drive her away, without even wanting to look at her properly?
She stubbornly bit her lip, holding the report in one hand, letting him grab the other, completely non-responsive.
"Did you hear me?!" He shouted, turning his gaze, his eyes cold enough to cut like knives, "Leave the company! Disappear from my sight!"
Dustin, not far away, was so frightened he couldn’t utter a word, his mind going blank.
As Adrian’s grip intensified, Ivy felt as if her wrist was about to break.
"Ouch..." She gasped in pain, her scalp tingling, eyes brimming with tears, feeling extremely aggrieved.
"Whether Faye is here or not, no one can take her place!" Adrian was very clear about what he was doing.
"I never intended to take her place." Ivy felt bitterly cold inside, tears falling, her lips lifting slightly, "I just...ran into Dustin that day. He said you hadn’t been to the company for a long time, and I came purely to help. I wasn’t even entered in HR, and didn’t take a dime of salary!"
Dustin couldn’t bear it any longer. He hurried over to help explain—
"Yes, Lucas, that difficult guy, came again with suggestions. Ivy went to help handle it. There were a lot of projects that needed following up during that time. I was...working overtime late into the night every day."
"President Lancaster, please speak calmly to avoid misunderstandings." Dustin couldn’t bear it either, not wanting to project the resentment of losing Faye Turner onto Ivy Jennings. It wasn’t fair.
Hearing the name Lucas brought back Adrian’s reason bit by bit, and he released his grip, involuntarily recalling that time several years ago...
