Wife And Mother No More: The Lawyer’s Fiery Return
Sister 300
bChapter /bb300 /b
Whatever Vivian was thinking when she got married or divorced, the fact remained that Lisa’s biological father was a highly sessful entrepreneur. In
his younger days, he had graced the covers of magazines and was pursued by many socialites.
Yet, the man now standing beside Vivian simply couldn’t hold a candle to Lisa’s biological father.
Maxine sighed and said, “Maybe Vivian just wants to get some information out of him. Don’t read too much into it.”
No sooner had Lisa finished speaking than she grabbed Maxine’s arm and pulled her forward, shouting, “Hurry, hurry! They’re leaving!”
Lisa yanked Maxine forward, making her stagger as they rushed into the mall.
The two of them kept a discreet distance, pretending to browse as if nothing was out of the ordinary. Fortunately, the mall was crowded enough that the man never noticed they were quietly tailing him nearby.
Maxine studied the man’s face, a nagging sense of familiarity tugging at her. ‘Why does he look so familiar? Where have I seen him before?‘ she wondered, but she couldn’t quite ce him. Turning to Lisa beside her, she asked, “Did Vivian ever mention this guy’s name?”
“What?” Lisa asked, her eyes glued to Vivian and the man. She was so focused that it took her a moment to register Maxine’s question.
Lisa narrowed her eyes, struggling to recall. “I think… something like Hugh…” she said haltingly.
Lisa wasn’t really good with Hathndian, so it was already quite something for her to manage even a single character. But that one character alone was quite distinct. Still, Maxine couldn’t recall knowing anyone whose name contained it.
Lisa said breezity, “With your huge social circle, it’s totally normal you can’t remember right away.”
Hearing this, Maxine didn’t dwell on it further. After all, those were pre–ident memories, so much time had passed, and so much had happened since then. It was only natural that her memory would be a little fuzzy.
From the looks of it, everything between them seemed perfectly normal. Gradually, Lisa rxed and yawned tiredly. “Let’s grab a bite to eat and head
back, Lisa said, “I’m starving.”
Maxine thought the same. There was no point in following them any longer. She took out her phone to check for good restaurants nearby. Just then, she heard Sebastian call out, “Maxine? What are you two doing here?”
Lisa froze for a second when she saw him, then her face lit up. “Mr/Breakfast!”
Sebastian merely paused briefly at the nickname but made noment.
Maxine nced at the two people chatting nearby and exined, “Vivian’s been seeing someone new Lately. bLisa /band I were a bit concerned, so we came
to check it out.”
Following her gaze, Sebastian frowned slightly “Jeffrey Rowe?”
“Wait, what?” Maxine asked reflexively, thinking she must have misheard
“I know this guy, he even Sebastian paused, shooting a quick nce at Maxine. “He attended our wedding. He used to work at Urban’spany, but a few years back, he apparently offended sorpe higher ups and got transferred out of headquarters Ng idea why he’s showing up here now.”
Before he could finish speaking, he noticed Jetfly shift slightly, take the bag from Vivian’s shoulder, and effortlessly sling it over his own arm.
Sebastian’s expression grewplicated for a moment Hesitating slightly, he asked. When did be thest your friend?”
Lisa’s eyes lit up as she eximed, “14r. Breakfast, you know huo?”
Sebastian patiently exined, “Well, I can’t say I really bknow /bhim, but he does seem somewhat famibar.”
