Sebastian froze on the spot. He opened his mouth to speak, but Kathleen beat him to it.

Kathleen looked nervous. “Maxine, what are you talking about? Sebastian and I are just friends, nothing more! Please don’t misunderstand!”

Sebastian remembered Brian was still standing in the hallway. His expression darkened with displeasure. “Maxine, stop talking nonsense.”

Normally, Maxine would have argued back. But now, she had no desire to do so.

“Fine, let’s say I’m talking nonsense. Come on in, both of you,” Maxine said calmly.

Kathleen was surprised that Maxine didn’t argue. She followed behind, narrowing her eyes slightly, subtly observing

Maxine.

Maxine led them to the living room and handed a prepared document to Sebastian. “Take a look. This is thetest draft of the divorce agreement.”

Then Maxine sat across from them, sipping warm water, her expression indifferent.

Hearing this, Sebastian was taken aback. He almost thought he misheard.

Sebastian had assumed Maxine invited him over for another reason. His temples throbbed, and his

eyes

darkened.

“Maxine, you called me here just for this?” Sebastian asked.

Maxine raised an eyebrow. “What else? To have soup? I know you probably tore up the previous divorce papers. I know your temper–you won’t do anything you don’t want to, and you hate being forced.

“So, I prepared a backup. I added a few new uses–nothing major. Like property, cash, that sort of thing. As for the Noxen Group shares and those billions in assets under your name, I don’t want a cent.

“What I’m asking for totals about eight million dors—not much. This house alone is worth over three million dors.”

Maxine nced around the well–decorated room and added, “I paid for this house, so I think it’s fair that it goes to me, as originally agreed.”

Sebastian’s gaze darkened. He seemed not to understand Maxine’s words. He asked again, “I said, you called me here just for this?”

Maxine narrowed her eyes. “Are you losing your mind?”

Sebastian almostughed in anger.

At that moment, Kathleen’s eyes shed with a hint of smugness.

Kathleen said, “Maxine, what ido /iyou mean by this? Are you unhappy with the previous terms and want more from Sebastian? Why are you doing this? You and Sebastian have been married for years.”

Maxine shot Kathleen a cold nce. “Shut up. Say another word, and I’ll hit you. Believe it or not?”

Kathleen looked frightened and moved closer to Sebastian. “Sebastian…”

Sebastian leaned forward slightly, appearing to protect Kathleen from Maxine’s perspective.

Maxine’s eyes showed mockery. She wondered what these two were pretending for–still unwilling to admit their affair.

Sebastian spoke coldly. “Maxine, this is between us. Why drag Kathleen into it?”

Maxine sneered. “Sebastian, did I not insult you? You know this is between us. So why bring your new lover here? What, is she your defense attorney? With her skills, she might not beat me. If she wants to win in court, she should

go undergrad.”

Kathleen’s face turned red, and she stood up abruptly. “Maxine, what do you mean? Are you mocking my legal knowledge?”
