CHAPTER 221: CHAPTER 168: BUTTERFLY EFFECT_3
"Don’t worry about me, I was just thinking about something... Is there any news from the Empire?"
Lily bit her lip, falling into hesitation.
Yue grasped her wrist and pleaded, "This is important."
"The Lofic Consortium’s fleet arrived at the capital port today, and it’s said the head of the consortium came too."
Lily said softly, not knowing if this would help with the young master’s condition, though the master had instructed everyone not to tell Yue about this news.
Because... Young Master Yue’s recent behavior was disappointing, openly confronting the other members in the council chamber, which naturally posed a significant obstacle to the recommendation of Yue joining the council.
As punishment, the young master was confined to the house, the construction of the Teleportation Magic Array project was halted, and all Great Mages from the Astrology Guild he had invited were expelled from the country. Until Yue made a deep reflection and realized his mistakes, he’d be kept at home.
"Thank you, Lily."
The hand grasping her wrist slid down, finally pressing against her palm. The two intertwined their fingers, and Yue suddenly said, "Lily, let’s have a grilled fish feast this afternoon; go get someone to prepare it for me!"
"Understood, I’ll get right to it. You have a good rest."
After the maid left, Yue’s smile faded. He lay flat on the bed, staring up at the ceiling.
He had another nightmare, dreaming of sinking into the deep sea, some force dragging his body, making him unable to stop descending. The length of the fall and the depth of the sinking grew longer and deeper, but each nightmare ended similarly.
He saw an eye in the deep sea, and again, a tentacle writhing like a mountain range.
There was something hidden in the depths of the ocean he couldn’t understand, and Yue could feel that as his nightmares occurred more frequently, the signs of that creature awakening became more apparent.
These dreams seemed to be awakening that colossal entity.
Yue had never seen the creature entirely; just one eye filled his entire vision, making him wonder what terrifying disaster would come if it were to awaken.
However, his warnings were ignored; the members of the council thought he was crazy, not even willing to send an exploration ship.
Yue was intercepted before secretly setting sail, and the Glory Sailor under his name was also taken over by the council. In his 26 days of confinement, he completely lost contact with them.
Lily said they set out to sea and never returned.
Yue didn’t believe it was just a dream; it had to be a forewarning of something. The issue was, how could he convince others? What made him even more uneasy was that ever since the voyage, the atmosphere in the council felt strange, his father included.
Now, with the Lofic Consortium’s fleet arriving at the capital, something big was definitely about to happen.
A week ago, he entrusted Lily to send a letter to Heisenberg, but after the council seized his Glory Sailor, outside contact became extremely difficult. Although Lily ensured the letter was sent aboard a departing merchant ship, getting it to Heisenberg was not easy. He couldn’t even confirm if the news about Henry VI’s passing had been successfully delivered to Old Sen’s Magic Scroll Shop.
The clouds still loomed outside, as they had for several days.
Finally, a flash of lightning split the sky, bringing the capital its first rain.
He mentioned in the letter hoping to purchase thousands of Ice Arrow Scrolls from Heisenberg, enough to arm a battalion. If the army wielding Ice Arrow Scrolls launched a NB attack on the creature soon to awaken, perhaps it could be forever sealed in the depths of the sea.
But...
Was it too late to place such a large order now?
Was there still time?
And even if Heisenberg completed the order, how would it be delivered here?
The Great Mages he painstakingly brought had been driven away, leaving only sea transport for bringing the scrolls to the capital, but such a vast number of Magic Scrolls would be detected by the council as soon as they entered the port.
Yue clenched his fist in frustration. At the moment of his internal conflict, Lily, who had just left, suddenly returned. She held a peculiar object in her hands, her face full of horror.
It looked like some kind of palm-sized shell creature, making a continuous "dulu-lulu-lulu" sound as Lily held it.
Suppressing her fear, she finally exclaimed "Ah!" and tossed the shell onto Yue’s bed after bringing it into the room.
The shell’s noise grew louder, constantly worrying her that the strange thing might suddenly open its mouth and bite her.
Lily quickly warned, "Young Master, get up quickly and be careful not to be bitten!"
"What is this thing?"
Yue, however, was not fazed at all. He picked up the strange creature with interest, recalling the wondrous shells from coastal city markets that preserved sounds, usually children’s toys.
"This... This is the ’Old Sen Magic Technology Phone 2.0 Beta Version.’"
Lily reported the shell’s name as it was written on the accompanying list. If it hadn’t mentioned "Old Sen," she would never have brought such a suspicious thing into the young master’s room.
She couldn’t understand what "phone" meant, only warning Yue based on the literal meaning, "Be careful, Young Master, don’t talk to it—you’ll get shocked!"
"Talk?"
Lily’s warning reminded Yue, and he finally found the shell’s opening part, speaking into the other end, "Hello, hello, can you hear me?"
Young Master Yue had gone mad, talking to a shell!
But something eerie happened; a voice replied from the other side of the shell.
"Hello, hello, I can hear you."
It was a girl’s voice.
Yue and Lily exchanged glances, Yue cautiously asked, "Who are you?"
"I’m Rowena, a customer service representative from Old Sen Magic Technology Store! Please provide me with your name to complete the registration."
"Yue."
"Alright, Yue, hmm, a VIP customer, it seems the goods have successfully reached you. This is a token of appreciation for VIP customers from our store. Please refer to the instructions on the back of the list, and have a pleasant day... Hey! That’s my guava juice, don’t steal it!"
In the midst of the noise, the communication was cut off, leaving only the two staring at each other.
