Witch, Fireball and the Evil God of Steam
Chapter 229 - 171: Telepathy_2
CHAPTER 229: CHAPTER 171: TELEPATHY_2
"What were you thinking just now?"
"Feeling the sea breeze."
"Sea breeze?"
"Didn’t you mention that the emotional essence corresponding to the wind element is freedom? I think this voyage is a good opportunity."
Lindong blinked at him in surprise, "Your electric elemental magic has been upgraded? When did that happen?"
She felt that Ethan’s cultivation speed was getting faster and faster; what other Elemental Shapers sought all their lives seemed as simple as solving a regular problem for him.
"I owe it all to you, teacher."
Ethan felt that his proficiency with electric elemental magic was basically thanks to Lindong, even the trigger for the upgrade came from her.
It was only after that day that he realized the flickering arc of electricity wasn’t an illusion.
Lindong’s voice in his heart wasn’t just a figment of his imagination.
’Lightning Chain (Emperor), proficiency: ∞, you gradually can hear the voices of all things’
"You waited so long to tell me!"
Lindong straightened her face, her aura becoming much more assertive, "Show it to me!"
She was always curious about Ethan’s elemental magic.
The fire element corresponded to the sun, making him look like a god descending to the mortal world; the blood-red ice element made him appear as the Evil God Bajatos’s spokesperson on this world. Lindong couldn’t imagine what phenomena Ethan’s upgraded electric elemental magic would manifest.
"...Um, I’ve already used it."
Lindong vaguely saw a few arcs of electricity flicker in the air, then Ethan lowered his head, leaving her baffled and looking around for quite a while.
There were no celestial phenomena; it seemed more like weak currents from a beginner’s failed attempt at casting electric elemental magic.
"Is this your upgraded magic? What did you do with it?"
"I call it ’telepathy,’ with that explanation, you should understand now, right, teacher?"
Ethan listened nervously to the footsteps of crew members coming and going behind him, while he lowered his voice.
"Telepathy? Explain it more clearly."
Ethan braced himself and spoke of the information he unexpectedly overheard earlier, "’Disobedient disciple, you’ve been hiding this from me for so long, let’s see how I deal with you tonight!’"
"Hmm, oh, ah, so this is telepathy."
Lindong awkwardly diverted her gaze, stopping it on the shimmering sea surface as she hesitantly asked, "It’s just hearing heart’s voice, you shouldn’t be able to see thoughts in the mind, right?"
This reminded Ethan that he hadn’t had a chance to develop this ability yet.
If unnecessary, he didn’t like eavesdropping on people’s inner thoughts. To him, this was quite a dangerous ability; he might inadvertently hear incredible secrets, especially in a place like the imperial capital, where he could never know what those outwardly glamorous people were thinking inside.
Even Lindong wasn’t exempt.
Telepathy was completed in an instant; once the content was realized, it was too late.
And when Lindong spoke, he tried to activate the magic.
Another arc of electricity cut across the deck.
It turned out Lindong was a good teacher, but the image in her mind was one of those "once seen, it’s too late" situations.
"...Now I see."
The electric element seemed very excited.
Ethan always felt that these electric Elemental Elves had a huge compositional problem, quite different from the dignified, high-up image that Lindong described in "Fireball Ice Arrow Magic Theory."
Lindong instantly felt a chill on her scalp, closed her eyes, and buried her face in her arm.
Time ticked by slowly; after an unknown duration, she finally rallied herself and turned her face, "So, what do you think?"
Lindong’s skin was very white, so it flushed bright red very clearly.
Ethan decided to follow his heart, "Somewhat looking forward to it."
"I brought some books about the Western Continent, do you want...huh, what happened to you two?"
Ave’s voice came from behind.
Ave dragged a box full of books, looking at the two with curiosity.
The 8 to 9 days of sailing time were exhausting; sailing on the sea made time flow extremely slowly.
Lindong adjusted her somewhat disordered breathing, straightened her face, and turned around, trying to look as much like a calm protector of a diplomat as possible, "We are discussing the matter after heading back to the cabin for me to change into the maid outfit tonight."
(We are discussing the safety of the voyage.)
Time seemed to freeze at that moment; passing crew members widened their eyes, as if hit by the Immobile Curse.
Ave froze on the spot, her golden hair on top swirling back and forth between the two in shock.
Much later, she finally said, "I didn’t bring such books."
"Eh?"
Lindong sent a plea for help via her gaze to Ethan, questioning if she...had just misspoken?
Ethan’s expression had already solidified on his face, "Teacher, you just, must have said it wrong."
You see, this was why he rarely activated the upgraded electric element ability; even for someone like his teacher, words and heart’s voices got mixed up.
Ave picked up the suitcase, cleared her throat, "Take care of yourselves."
She immediately headed towards the cabin without turning back, but the golden hair on top that turned back at every step betrayed her current feelings. The stiff crew members also woke from a dream, laughed heartily, "You have great taste; honestly, I also love maid outfits, they’re the greatest invention of this era... uhh, carry on, I heard nothing, I know nothing."
Under Lindong’s annoyed gaze, the crew member ran away in a puff.
The atmosphere turned silent, and awkwardness quickly took over the deck.
