Witch, Fireball and the Evil God of Steam
Chapter 596 25: Please Open Your Investigator Handbook_3
The news of the King of Gold's death had long spread within the guild. Supposedly, the other administrators should have known about it already, which made the headquarters' response very clear.
The other administrators didn't want to see him.
Yet, the station master "inadvertently" disclosed a bug-exploitation trick to Ethan.
Although the administrators' territories would be removed from the list and not available to other investigators, if one really wanted to investigate, they might still find some clues.
If a certain plane suddenly disappears from the list, it is most likely to have become the territory of an administrator.
According to the guild's rules, if an investigator "accidentally" enters an administrator's territory while exploring a plane, the guild would not pursue the matter.
Thus, a "friend" of the station master mentioned to Ethan a plane that had recently vanished from the headquarters' list and how to reach it.
Before setting off, Ethan made ample preparations and brought along trusted companions.
Miss Keroy, a cat, a bat, a wolf, and an octopus.
Rumor had it that the administrator was once a Summoner.
Administrators indeed have basic professions as well.
Merlin is an Elemental Shaper, the King of Gold is an Alchemist; their fundamental power systems still align with the basic framework of the extraordinary path.
In the plane where the administrator resided, there was a rule particularly unfavorable to Ethan — he couldn't engage in battle himself.
When the white light dissipated, Ethan found himself on a subway.
On the empty subway, it was just the Trainer and his companions.
The "train" was a special plane discovered by the guild, which functioned to connect different transfer stations. No one knew how they came into being, but the transportation routes constructed by the "train" lines were ingeniously crafted, capable of reaching almost any plane recorded by the guild.
Because of this, guild members firmly believed in the existence of the Goddess. In their view, only a deity could create something so intricate.
Exiting at different platforms would lead to different planes or transfer stations.
But the place they were heading to was somewhat special, requiring a bit of trickery, such as jumping off in the middle of the journey.
"Are you ready, Miss Keroy?"
Ethan opened the map in the investigator's manual, which actually showed a dead end.
"Goo goo!"
With a determined look, Miss Keroy's feathers puffed up, and she then lowered her head, resolutely carrying Ethan and the other companions as they charged into the tightly closed subway door.
With a "thud," the scene before their eyes rapidly changed.
Beyond the subway was a solid wall, yet Ethan and the others somehow embedded themselves into it.
As their distorted vision gradually cleared, an acrid atmosphere engulfed them.
"What are you standing there for?"
Before Ethan could react, he heard a hurried voice, "If you don't retreat now, she'll be back soon!"
It came from a brawny man with a white headscarf and a bushy beard. Ethan felt this person surely had a knack for jinxing things because just as he finished speaking, a sharp screech descended from the sky. A massive claw snatched the entire man in its grip, and before he could let out a scream, he was flung down from the treetop over a hundred meters high.
The reason Ethan wasn't attacked was obvious as well.
Ethan felt an unexpected weight in his arms, and looking down, he realized at some point he was holding a giant white egg.
The massive creature that descended from the sky lowered its body, bringing its face close to his, its amber lizard-like eyes locked onto him.
Ethan admitted that the situation was somewhat awkward, and he could only muster a very awkward smile.
Because theoretically, when you're caught red-handed trying to steal someone's child by the child's mother, it tends to be really awkward.
"If I say, this egg appeared in my arms by itself, would you believe me?"
Ethan cleared his throat.
Unexpectedly, the "giant lizard" spoke, its voice full of authority.
——"Think again."
