CHAPTER 232: 109 ANGEL REMILLER (PLEASE FAVORITE)

One after another, ships appeared near the waters of Flame Island and, under the guidance of the two major trade associations, moored in an orderly fashion.

Nearly a thousand crew members flooded the island, beginning to eliminate the islanders and scavenge for materials.

Without Cherry, the Island Master and the main source of combat power, the other people on Flame Island were unable to stir much trouble.

「The Great Hall.」

After a great battle, it had almost turned into ruins. Debris scattered, and lava flowed. There was hardly any place to set foot on.

"Honored Guardian, I am pleased to meet you." The white-haired Holy Knight approached Carl, performed an ancient courtesy, and spoke with excitement, "Holy Knight Brown, at your service."

Carl’s face was somewhat pale. Although he had succeeded in slaying the monster in the end, he was not feeling well himself. His chest felt tight, his breathing obstructed, and his hands trembled lightly of their own accord. Fortunately, his foundation was not damaged, and he could recover after a few days of rest.

It seems that I’m still struggling to contend with beings of Legendary rank.

"Guardian?"

He looked at the other, "Since when did I earn such a title?"

"Before the Gods had fallen, the Moon Goddess had four Guardian Knights from the Sky Sanctuary by her side." Brown’s voice was hoarse as he slowly said, "They were the Giant Spirit, the Celestial Wolf, the Gemini, and the Holy Crab, also known as the Guardians of the Gods. You must be this generation’s Giant Spirit!"

"Oh!" Carl raised an eyebrow, "And why would that be?"

"Because you practice the Giant Spirit Breathing Technique."

"That simple? Are there no Holy Knights who practice the Giant Spirit Breathing Technique?"

"...No." Brown shook his head lightly, explaining, "Only the most devout believers are qualified to enter the Holy City to become Holy Knights. Only the most gifted among the Holy Knights can enter the Sky Sanctuary. Only after defeating other competitors in the Sky Sanctuary is one allowed to practice the four great inherited Magic Doors. And to become a Guardian of the Gods, one must be the most outstanding individual within the Sky Sanctuary. Honored Guardian, you must be aware that practicing the Giant Spirit Breathing Technique requires the blessing of a god, so..."

His eyes blazed with fervor, "The God! Has not fallen!"

Carl stroked his chin. Indeed, as he practiced the Giant Spirit Breathing Technique, he did receive the Moon Goddess’s blessing. Though the Goddess seemed in a dire state, she had not fallen.

"So..." he inquired with some surprise, "You were not able to affirm that the Moon Goddess had not fallen?"

"Yes." Brown nodded, "The Divine Realm has shattered, and from certain signs, the Holy Hall deduced that the Goddess should still be alive. There simply had been no means to prove it until now, and your existence, Guardian, is the evidence."

No wonder he was so agitated. For hundreds of years, the Knights of the Holy Hall had been wandering across this continent. Although they claimed to be searching for the Goddess, how many of them had never doubted in their hearts whether she was still alive or if she had already perished?

Now, having evidence that the Goddess is alive is akin to reconstructing their faith for the Holy Knights.

"Over the years, the Holy Knights have explored many ruins, and the Holy Hall has also compiled the inherited Magic Doors of the Giant Spirit and the Holy Crab." Brown spoke, "But in hundreds of years, no one has ever truly mastered them; those practiced are merely weakened versions that do not require a blessing. Not just the Goddess’s legacy, but other inheritances left by the Divines are the same, unable to be truly practiced."

Carl raised an eyebrow.

No wonder! No wonder his strength far surpassed that of an ordinary Great Knight; the breathing technique was a significant factor. No matter how high the Tier of other people’s breathing techniques was, they couldn’t top those left by Divines.

Carl had indeed pondered that his breathing technique was formidable, but after encountering the laws of the Furnace, he discarded the thought. The complete version of the Furnace Hundred Forms was not inferior to the Giant Spirit Breathing Technique; it was likely even superior.

But, if no one has mastered it, that changes the conversation.

Just by practicing the Giant Spirit Breathing Technique to the pinnacle of a Great Knight, one could probably crush the top powerhouses of Freedom Port, possessing the ability to combat Legendary Creatures.

"Guardian." Brown spoke again, "Please join me on a journey to the Holy Hall; the Holy Knights of this world will look to you as their leader and rescue the trapped Goddess."

"Go to the Holy Hall?" Carl shook his head, "I’m not interested at the moment."

"Ah!" Brown’s expression stiffened, "Why... why not?"

To receive the Goddess’s blessing, one ought to be the most devout believer, yet Carl did not seem so. Moreover, his tone clearly lacked reverence for the Goddess.

"No reason," Carl shook his head, "I just don’t want to."

What a joke. Divines! Those were entities even Second Circle Wizards dared not meddle with; for him to approach now was tantamount to seeking death. Perhaps the Moon Goddess bore no malice towards him, but what if? What of other Divines? And those beings, the so-called Evil Gods, that caused the downfall of many Divines? These were far beyond what he could grapple with at the moment.

"Guardian!" Brown hastily said, "You don’t need to do anything; just come back to the Holy Hall with me. The Holy Hall will find a way to discern the Goddess’s traces from you."

Such were his words, rendering Carl even more reluctant to visit this so-called Holy Hall. Who knew what methods they might use?

Bleeding?

Dissection?

...

Given the Holy Knights’ zealous faith in the Goddess, if they needed to kill in order to save her, they wouldn’t hesitate.

"Forget it!" Carl waved his hand dismissively and turned to leave.

"Guardian." Brown hurried after him, "The Holy Hall has inheritances left by Divines, many powerful individuals to ensure your safety, supreme Dharma Seals, and even the Great Divine Grace you desire..."

Carl paused mid-step, then shook his head again.
