CHAPTER 375: 147 87 GOD’S GRACE COINS (PLEASE COLLECT)_2

「Before long.」

The corner of the room flickered with light and shadow, as if that area had been pixelated. As the pixelation dissipated, two peculiar creatures quietly emerged.

"What are these?"

"Crocodiles? Lizards?"

"Why is their skin that color? And it looks so smooth, just like a mirror."

Ayala, Yana, and the others showed surprised expressions as they looked at the large, lizard-like, strange creatures.

Carl’s expression, however, became extremely bizarre.

"Mr. Karl."

Conni, noticing the odd expression on his face, couldn’t help but ask, "Do you know them?"

"No," Carl shook his head. "It’s my first time seeing them as well. It’s just... their form, it resembles something. By the way, do they need to eat?"

"No need," Conni shook his head. "It seems Mr. Karl knows something about them. I just found out there are life forms that can survive without eating. No wonder they could live on after the Pirate King’s death."

Life forms?

Carl gently shook his head.

The two large lizards in front of him probably weren’t the life forms the others imagined. They were... mechanical creations! Large lizards composed of an unknown liquid metal, with sharp fangs and claws, and skin that could turn invisible. Their life force was difficult to detect. Cold, silent... These definitely weren’t the traits a living creature should possess!

"Who created them?" Carl asked. "The Divine?"

"No," Conni shook his head. "It was humans."

He lit the oil lamp in the room, walked to the wall, and, pointing to the carved images on it, said, "Come look. These images here most likely illustrate the process of making Erdis."

There were many images on the wall, most of which were hard to make out. One of them depicted a ’human’ pulling a longsword from something resembling a large furnace. The blood-red blade was Erdis. Near Erdis in the image, two prone figures were marked with dotted lines. These were likely the two peculiar creatures present.

Carl lightly touched his forehead.

If the Divine had created these ’invisible machines’, he might have accepted that. But humans creating them? The technology required for such things would demand a long period of development; it couldn’t have just suddenly appeared. That being said, if the humans of this world had once created advanced technology, why wasn’t it preserved?

"This story on the painting..." Ayala frowned. "It seems like it’s desecrating gods?"

Everyone turned to the imagery. Although most of it was vague, the clearer parts appeared to depict humans rebelling against the Divine. The creation of Erdis was also for confronting the ’Divine’.

"Yes," Conni nodded. "It seems that long, long ago, there were humans who did not worship the Divine, and could even kill Divines."

Saying this, he pointed to the last image. It depicted a spear piercing a ’Divine’.

"This is blasphemy!" Yana growled. "A human can never kill a Divine!"

WHOOSH!

She suddenly drew her sword, Sword Qi erupting towards the wall, and its ferocious power instantly erased the images there. Her action evidently angered the two invisible creatures in the room, and they lunged at Yana with a shimmer.

TING...

CLANG!

The three figures crisscrossed in the air. After landing, the two invisible creatures instantly vanished from everyone’s sight, but their offensive did not cease.

"Stop!"

"Everyone, stop!"

Carl frowned. A stream of water mysteriously appeared, swirling violently to separate the belligerents.

"Stop," Carl commanded. "These are just some murals whose authenticity is unknown; there’s no need to raise weapons against our own people."

He turned to Conni, changing the subject. "Ayala mentioned you’ve found the Pirate King’s treasure?"

"Yes."

Conni calmed the two invisible creatures, walked to a corner of the room, then pressed a stone pillar there.

HUMMM...

The house trembled slightly. Numerous interlacing beams of light ultimately formed a huge, three-dimensional hologram in the center of the room. The hologram was none other than a miniaturized Tortuga Island.

Uh... Virtual imaging technology! Carl’s expression was peculiar.

Stepping away from the others, Carl suppressed the turmoil in his heart and looked toward the icy-faced Yana.

"Why were you so impulsive just now?"

Yana remained expressionless. "I wasn’t."

"You weren’t?" Carl shook his head. "To suppress the Bloodline within you, your emotions are usually subdued, but just now you went beyond your threshold. Yana, why? Like I said, those are merely murals from an unknown era."

Yana’s eyes flickered. After a long pause, she spoke slowly, "I’ve seen the spear in that mural before. It was in the hands of the Moon Goddess, piercing the Supreme Will and replacing Him as the ruler of the Gods."

Hmm?

Carl raised an eyebrow.

This world harbored numerous Divines, and at the highest seat of the Temple of Gods sat the Supreme Will. He is the Father of Gods, the Mother of All Creatures.

"Isn’t it said that the disappearance of the Supreme Will allowed the Outer Realm Evil God to invade this world?"

"No!" Yana shook her head. "At least, that’s not what they say in the Holy Hall. The Supreme Will enslaved all creatures, and the Goddess, unable to bear their suffering, drove the God Slaying Spear into Him on the Pillar of Betrayers."

"As for the invasion of the Evil God... it was because the Death God, Chronos, assassinated the Goddess and destroyed the Sealing of the Temple of Gods, which unleashed the Evil God."

"Interesting," Carl narrowed his eyes. "According to your version, the Goddess killed the Supreme Will, and the Death God betrayed the Goddess, leading to the current state of this world?"

"Essentially."
