CHAPTER 378: 148 TEMPLAR KNIGHTS (PLEASE BOOKMARK)
If Source Material is added to spiritual power, one’s own strength can hardly be significantly enhanced in the short term. Spiritual power needs to be applied to witchcraft. So far, the only One-Circle Witchcraft Carl had mastered were the Force of Tides and the incomplete Thunder God’s Fury. He hadn’t even had time to cultivate the Flash Body Spell, a spell that didn’t require the construction of a complex Magic Model.
Adding to Constitution, however, could quickly be converted into strength.
Moreover, once a single attribute broke through the critical point of 10, allowing his Cultivation to reach the First-order Middle Stage, his strength would double.
As the Source Material flowed into his body, his flesh, fascia, internal organs, and blood vessels all underwent transformations.
Instantly, the originally chaotic and perilous scene became traceable in Carl’s perception.
Drifting Phantom Bubbles and various witchcraft attacks were reflected into his ’perception’ through the stimulation of his flesh.
Six Flying Arrows would land on his body after half a Breath, two Fireballs would explode nearby after one Breath, and a torrent of negative energy carrying other attacks was about to clear a path in front of him...
The chaotic situation still held a sliver of hope for survival.
Below, to the side!
SWOOSH!
Carl’s body twisted, and he surged forward like a fish gliding through water, propelled by the air.
BOOM!
RUMBLE...
A series of explosions erupted behind him as Carl’s form darted through the Fierce Flames, rolling to dodge several stray Flying Arrows.
He looked up. A Wizard clad in a fiery red Wizard Robe held a ring of flames, incessantly shooting Fireballs downward.
A First Rank Late Stage Flame Wizard!
There were quite a few potent presences in the area, but most Wizards, when they took action, would subconsciously avoid ordinary people. Although it could not be completely avoided, they would be as cautious as possible. Only this person showed no hesitation; the Fierce Flames fell like torrential rain onto the ground.
In just over a dozen Breaths, who knew how many people on this street had died by his hand.
HMPH!
Carl let out a low grunt. Finding no way to avoid it, he suddenly leaped high, throwing a punch at a Fireball.
Break!
His Battle Aura, strengthened by Divine Power, possessed a powerful magic-breaking effect, tearing the Fireball apart with his fist.
"Open for me!" Carl shouted, his expression grave. He parted his hands left and right, freeing himself from the attacking circle while deflecting the Fierce Flames.
Even though his Constitution had just surpassed 10, placing him in the First-order Middle Stage, he was not completely helpless against the attacks of a First Rank Late Stage Wizard. At least he could resist the weakened power of area-affecting witchcraft.
AH!
A familiar scream came from not far away.
Inid was desperately fleeing amid the chaos, holding aloft a vibrantly colored Magic Carpet with one hand. Explosions erupted continuously to her left and right, and the Spirit Light of the Magic Carpet flickered wildly, seemingly at its limit.
"Over here!" Carl shouted, drawing his Magic Wand and pointing from afar.
One-Circle Witchcraft—Force of Tides!
Water materialized from thin air, rushing towards Inid. Although not very powerful, it could at least block various stray attacks.
"Carl!" Upon hearing his voice, Inid looked over, her face filled with elation, and quickly moved towards him.
"Let’s go!"
Once the two of them met up, Carl looked back. "Let’s get out of here first," he said.
"Yes." Inid nodded. Together, they fled swiftly into the distance, only stopping after running several miles.
"Who would have thought the Vortex Spirit Butterfly would appear so close to the market?" Looking back at the still tumultuous scene, Inid said, her face showing her lingering fear, "I owe you my thanks, Carl. Without your help... I might not have made it out."
She said with a pained expression as she glanced at her Magic Carpet. This Magic Carpet was the only Inheritance Witchcraft she possessed; its defensive power was remarkable, but now it was nearly ruined. However, it was also thanks to it that she had been able to escape today.
"It’s what I should do." Carl waved his hand dismissively. "What now?" he asked. "Just let them wreak havoc like this?"
The distant battle was still ongoing. Countless people could be seen hastily fleeing the battlefield, yet very few had the courage to go against the tide.
The patrol team formed by the three major families now seemed like a complete joke.
"That’s a hundred-year-old Vortex Spirit Butterfly, after all. It can enhance the chances for a First Rank Late Stage Wizard to break through."
"For Wizards who have reached the First Rank Late Stage, their lifespan is practically at its limit. They would be driven mad by such a thing."
Inid shook her head. "If the Capet family were still here, perhaps they could suppress them," she said. "Now... we can only wait for it to be over."
Carl shook his head slowly, his hands clenching into tight fists.
By the time Daniel, the representative of the Tower, arrived at the market, it was the next day, and the chaos had already ended.
The edges of the market had turned into ruins. Hundreds of houses were destroyed, and corpses littered the ground.
"The Second Circle Wizards are all away, so..." He spread his hands helplessly. "With so many First Rank Late Stage Wizards going berserk, even we from the Tower must keep our distance."
"Hmm..." Daniel mused. "Actually, if I had been there, I probably would have joined the fray. After all, that was a hundred-year-old Vortex Spirit Butterfly."
"Yes," Carl said with a wry smile. "During the beast tide, I was striving to become an Official Wizard. This time, I’ve truly witnessed the chaos of the Magic Forest."
HAHA..." Daniel laughed heartily. "This is already quite good. I remember some years ago when a Magic Plant that could help a Second Circle Wizard advance appeared—that was truly terrifying."
"Several Second Circle Wizards fought openly. The scene... I was haunted by nightmares for a very long time back then."
SIGH! Carl sighed lightly. "So, what happened in the end?"
"What happened?" Daniel looked puzzled for a moment, then his eyes cleared. "The Vortex Spirit Butterfly was eventually seized by the two Sanchez brothers. They’re twins, and both are First Rank Late Stage Wizards."
