Work Prophet
Chapter 687 - 13 Flawless Action
CHAPTER 687: CHAPTER 13 FLAWLESS ACTION
After more than ten days of trekking, Shajia and his group finally arrived in the western territory.
They rested beautifully for one night in the estate of a young knight, accepting the host’s warm hospitality in return for a ground littered with corpses.
However, this time around, Balan and the others were relatively restrained, and even though the young knight’s wife was quite beautiful, they did not act as recklessly as they had before.
As the most elite warriors of the Wing Tribe, they knew when to indulge and when to tighten up.
Although they verbally despised Irelia, she was, after all, the champion of the martial contest, having successively defeated Gabriel, Moen, and Jacob and achieved the feat of slaying a dragon.
Faced with such a formidable enemy, Shajia and his men were also very cautious; to avoid revealing their whereabouts, they didn’t stop for food or lodging in the towns they passed, flying directly to Green Field in one breath.
The Wing Clan warriors descended in a forest under the cover of night.
Shajia sent out scouts to check the surroundings, finding no guards from the Alias family or warriors from the Double Rest Sect.
Not far from them was a mine, buzzing with Dwarf miners. If Shajia remembered correctly, those always drunken little Dwarves had an agreement with them.
When they attacked Lion Heart Castle, the Dwarves would also launch a comprehensive offensive in the western territory.
Now that the impregnable Lion Heart Castle had long been conquered by the brave Wing Clan warriors, these Dwarves had suffered a defeat in the western territory and could only run off to Golden Valley with their tails between their legs.
Although Shajia had never held high expectations for these so-called allies from the start, the uselessness of the Dwarves still irked him.
If he was not mistaken, these miners were the prisoners from that previous battle; their numbers were large. Shajia gave their tents a brief glance, estimating there were nearly ten thousand.
What Shajia found most incomprehensible was the lack of dejection and shame in these Dwarves after their defeat; instead, they were all grinning and laughing, finishing their day’s work and then drinking and singing merrily, appearing quite joyful.
To the uninformed, it might seem as if they were on holiday—a sight that infuriated Shajia so much, he was tempted to slaughter them all.
Fortunately, this champion of the Winged Men hadn’t forgotten the real purpose of his visit this evening.
So, he diverted his gaze from those shameless Dwarves back to the town before him.
Clearly, it was a town that had been recently established. Its walls were not built of stones but mounded up with dirt instead.
To the Wing Clan warriors, both were the same—insignificant.
Their wings had turned the proud castles and fortresses of the Continent into a joke.
Shajia looked up toward the tallest structure in the city, a fortress built upon a small hill.
"That there is Teacup Castle, Lord Shajia," Yaxu spoke beside him, "Your prey for this hunt, that Lady of the Empire, resides there."
Shajia nodded slightly, "Let’s wait a little longer. Once everyone inside has fallen asleep, we’ll make our move."
As he spoke, he glanced at the night sky overhead. Tonight there was no moon, it seemed the god named Saturday had abandoned its faithful in the castle.
Balan and the others shed their previous lazy demeanors, bowing their heads to check their weapons as a tense atmosphere filled the woods.
Suddenly, a rustling sound erupted from the bushes; almost simultaneously, Caleb also raised his bow and arrow, aiming in the direction of the noise.
"Who?"
The Wing Clan Warrior lowered his voice and his tone revealed an unabashed murderous intent.
The next moment, the unwelcome guest emerged from the bushes, and it was actually a gray old mouse.
Caleb laughed and cursed under his breath, putting away his bow and arrow.
Balan joked, "You should have killed that little rat to prevent it from taking news of our arrival to that Lady."
"That being said, there sure are a lot of mice in this forest," Sedya spoke up, "I ran into two myself when I was relieving myself just now."
"It seems the creatures here all live quite comfortably, they give wine to prisoners and even breed so many mice."
"Indeed, such weak races occupy such vast and fertile lands, that in itself is a crime."
"Not to worry, we’ve already arrived, and we will soon set things right," Lord Shajia declared.
At the mention of conquest, the blood of the Wing Clan Warriors began to boil like that of starved beasts.
Meanwhile, back at Teacup Castle, Miss Rabbit was also getting a little hungry.
She had a Maid fetch some leftover bread from the kitchen from the night before and broke half to hand to Greta beside her.
The latter wasn’t too hungry, but she still took the bread and tore off a couple of pieces to feed a tailless old mouse that had just entered.
She then lifted it to her ear.
"How is it, how is it, have those guys in the forest set out yet?" the Lady leaned in to ask.
"Not yet," Greta said, "They’re probably waiting for us to go to sleep before they make a move."
"Hiss, how despicable!" exclaimed Miss Rabbit discontentedly, "Didn’t Kieren say the leader named Shajia wants to defeat me to prove he is the strongest champion on the Continent? If he plans to attack while I’m asleep, what kind of proof would that be?"
"Kieren also said that those people from the Wing Tribe are very savage, even their Nobles won’t care about any knight spirit, and in comparison, their Commander, Solomon, is considered more reasonable among them," Ruby joined in the conversation.
"But even Solomon didn’t give Gars a fair chance to duel. Even though he had already agreed to it before, these Wing Tribe people really are not good," continued the Lady, growing angrier, not even caring to nibble on her bread anymore. "According to messages from the Double Rest Sect, these sixteen Wing Clan Warriors have committed many atrocious acts on their way to the western region.
"These hooligans are no different from wild beasts!"
Miss Rabbit was genuinely angry this time, because the tragedies described over the radio were enraging one by one.
Greta felt obligated to remind her, "Sir Ireya, Prophet Merlin had instructed before he left to spare the lives of some among them if possible, because they are all samples that the Prophet needs."
The Lady nodded, "I’ve already given orders to aim for their limbs and wings on their backs during the fight, avoiding vital areas, but that leader named Shajia, I want him killed to avenge those who died at their hands earlier."
"No problem," Greta replied, "The Prophet only needs some of the Wing Tribe for experiments, he has no specific requirements for their status."
