Not far away, the Man in Black had stripped off his clothes and floated behind a plank, posing as a corpse, hoping to deceive Li Xuan.

The enormous monster appeared; its claws moved gently, and the jet ski flipped over.

Things did not unfold the way the Man in Black had hoped. Before the Giant Beast killed Song Shandian, it reached out a claw toward him.

The sharp talon pierced the man’s chest; the pain of shattered bones and damaged organs twisted his face into a hideous mask. He let out a guttural, meaningless hiss, veins bulging on his forehead as if they would burst through his skin.

“Good disguise, but it’s a pity. I never planned to spare anything suspicious in the vicinity. Even zombies, I will grind them all to death,” the Prehistoric Colossus spoke, words dripping from its mouth.

Blood welled from the man’s mouth and choked off whatever he wanted to say. His eyes gradually lost color. On the brink of death, he looked in the opposite direction from where Song Shandian hid and, with great effort, stretched out his hand as if pleading for help from whoever was over there.

With a casual flick, the Prehistoric Colossus tossed the man’s body aside. Its massive tail sliced through the air with a cutting wind, sweeping across the water’s surface.

Song Shandian had nowhere to flee. He rose from beneath the water and raised both hands. “Don’t kill me, I give up! I’ll do anything! I have lots of food! I’ll give it all to you! Enough to eat for ten years!”

“No need.” The cold voice issued from the beast’s mouth.

Song Shandian felt as if plunged into freezing water. Before he could continue begging, the massive claw came down.

Song Shandian vanished into the water. Not long after, the surface bloomed with a large pool of blood.

The Prehistoric Colossus shifted and rapidly shrank, taking human form.

Li Xuan climbed onto the jet ski and glanced at the black depths below. The blood from Song Shandian and the other man would surely attract many zombies. He could not stay here any longer.

The jet ski roared, broke through the water, throwing up a spray of waves, and in a flash it was gone.

In an abandoned high-rise, a dazed woman sat motionless. She was very beautiful—her height rivaled Yun Lan’s, her legs even longer, her skin fairer, her features delicate, as if an artist had crafted her from a comic panel. Her only flaw was her vacant eyes; she looked dumb and helpless.

Yun Xiuzhi stood on top of the dazed woman. “Don’t move. He’ll be back soon.”

The dazed woman was Fire Lingling transformed from Little White Snake. Her red lips parted slightly, and she spoke in a voice devoid of emotion, “I’m hungry. I want something to eat.”

“Li Xuan will be back. You can eat as much as you want,” Yun Xiuzhi said.

Fire Lingling made a small sound and then grew still, staring stupidly ahead.

When humans transform into animals, they gain animal traits; when animals transform into humans, they naturally gain benefits as well. After Little White Snake became Fire Lingling, she awakened intelligence—she was no longer an animal with a pitiful brain.

She had acquired wisdom, but she didn’t know how to use it.
