World-saving Plan: The Only Savior
Chapter 110 - 110 8 The Crisis of the Expedition Team
110: Chapter 8 The Crisis of the Expedition Team 110: Chapter 8 The Crisis of the Expedition Team Summer mornings always come a bit faster.
When Zhang Xiaoman stepped out of the Original Realm Space, the sky outside was already brightly lit.
He looked around at his surroundings, and everything seemed the same as before, except that the ground within the Stone Array seemed a bit flatter and lower.
“Eh?
Where is everyone?” Zhang Xiaoman looked around but did not find Yang Yangyang and the others.
After searching around the Stone Array again without finding any trace of them, Zhang Xiaoman couldn’t help but hesitate.
“These guys, they wouldn’t have left already, would they?
Could it be that a whole night passed inside while actually quite some time has elapsed out here?”
He felt that what he was seeing might be a morning after several days or even months.
“Forget it, if they have already left, then I’ll just rub the hearthstone and go back.
Anyway, that was my initial plan, and if I had to spend another ten or more days on the sea, I really couldn’t stand it…”
Muttering to himself, Zhang Xiaoman walked towards the ruins on the outskirts of the Stone Array, intending to take a look around and familiarize himself with the environment.
After all, according to his previous plan, he wanted to use this island as a base to develop well, so naturally, he wanted to understand it better.
Walking a short distance towards the direction of the mountain shaped like a maiden, after leaving the clearing near the Stone Array, Zhang Xiaoman stopped by a damaged wall.
It was night when he had previously visited these ruins.
At that time, he could only rely on a flashlight for illumination and many areas were not very clear.
Now that he had the opportunity, Zhang Xiaoman naturally wanted to take a good look at the situation here.
Looking at the Seven-pointed Star pattern engraved on the wall, his heart couldn’t help but emit a wave of emotion.
“Who would have thought that these things I talked about casually would become reality in the end…
and even many details have been perfected by the System.
Like these ruins, I wonder whether they were generated because of the System, or if they were already there and were just utilized by the System?”
Zhang Xiaoman shook his head, feeling that he couldn’t come to any conclusion regarding these causal questions.
As his gaze wandered, a streak of dark green stood out, catching his eye.
“Is that, a tent?”
Zhang Xiaoman quickly walked over and looked at the damaged tent on the ground, filled with confusion.
“Isn’t this the tent we used when we camped before?
How did it end up in such a state?”
He squatted down, flipped over the tent fabric and upon seeing a huge gash, he couldn’t help but narrow his eyes.
“These are claw marks!”
Zhang Xiaoman spread the fabric out, and what was revealed before him was a huge claw mark, looking to be at least 15 centimeters wide, which was quite terrifying.
“Did Yang Yangyang and the others encounter some danger?
But that’s wrong, this island is not supposed to have any fierce beasts…
Could it be…
monsters!?”
At that thought, he bolted upright in shock.
At the same time, a scream also echoed not far away.
“Help!!!”
Zhang Xiaoman immediately turned his head to look into the depths of the ruins—that was Yang Yangyang’s voice.
He sprang to his feet and without a moment’s hesitation, dashed towards the direction from which the voice had come.
Summon the Star Guardian!
While running, Zhang Xiaoman invoked this skill which had been modified by the System once more.
Around him, a burst of dark spots abruptly appeared and then coalesced in mid-air, forming shapes in just the blink of an eye, and two tall figures appeared on the spot.
These two were the Star Guardians, the Yellow Sand Soldiers Zhang Xiaoman had previously commanded.
The equipment they were wearing had turned from yellow to blue-purple.
The cloak on their back, which originally bore the pattern of Shurima, had now changed into the Seven-pointed Star, the emblem of the Star Alliance.
Their sturdy figures stood nearly two meters tall, their faces completely hidden by helmets, revealing only a pair of eyes glowing with purple light.
As soon as the two Star Guardians appeared, they understood their master’s intention and started running, one on each side of Zhang Xiaoman, heading towards the place from where Yang Yangyang’s screams had come.
Zhang Xiaoman took a glance at the two who had switched to new skins, then turned his attention back to the front, as he was busy with a rescue and had no time to admire their new look.
“Speed up!”
With a command in his mind, the two guards quickened their pace and rushed to the front.
“Brother Man, save me!!!”
The scream from Yang Yangyang came again, and looking towards the sound, Zhang Xiaoman saw a figure clinging to a tall Stone Pillar not far ahead.
Below him, something seemed to be jumping vigorously, trying to grab and pull the person from above down.
Zhang Xiaoman ran forward a short distance and immediately made out the monster’s appearance.
It was a humanoid monster covered in black hair, standing at least 50 centimeters taller than the Star Guardian, looking like a werewolf from a horror story.
However, unlike a werewolf, its head was smaller, its snout much shorter, and its tail was long and thin like a tiger’s; its overall shape leaned more towards beast than human.
The werewolf-like creature had jumped several times without success in grabbing Yang Yangyang.
Realizing this, it lowered its head and violently rammed into the Stone Pillar, nearly breaking the already-damaged pillar with a single hit.
“Ah ah ah ah ah ah!!!!!”
Yang Yangyang let out a continuous string of screams, his eyes shut tight, not daring to look at the situation below.
Seeing this, Zhang Xiaoman knew he was short on time and immediately ordered his two guards to charge at the monster, attempting a surprise attack.
The monster’s reflexes were sharp.
When the Star Guard approached for a sneak attack, it sensed the danger and whirled its head around to look behind, jumping away with a twist.
Witnessing this, Zhang Xiaoman frowned; this creature seemed quite difficult to handle.
The Star Guards’ assault failed to hit, and they quickly launched a pursuit.
In this true combat, they actually didn’t need Zhang Xiaoman’s detailed instructions.
They naturally possessed a strong combat awareness; if Zhang Xiaoman tried to command them forcefully, it would backfire.
Soon, the battle between the Star Guard and the monster intensified, with both sides fighting for life and death, each strike delivered with full force.
“Howl!!!”
The monster let out a pained howl as it was stabbed in the stomach by a Star Guard’s spear, the tip penetrating deeply, causing its eyes to turn blood-red with pain.
“Clang!”
The monster retaliated with a backhand slap on the Star Guard that attacked it, sending the guard flying several meters away.
A terrifying wound was clearly visible on the armor covering its chest.
If it were an ordinary person, they would undoubtedly be unable to stand by now and would probably perish in pain soon afterwards.
But the one struck by the monster was a Star Guard summoned by Zhang Xiaoman, and strictly speaking, it was an energy body formed by Dark Energy.
After being knocked away, it quickly got up as if nothing had happened.
Watching from a distance, Zhang Xiaoman couldn’t help but marvel secretly, although it was a serious battle scene, he suddenly felt like he was watching “Werewolf vs.
Zombie”.
The monster’s physical condition was clearly superior to that of the Star Guard, but outnumbered and overpowered by the Star Guard’s tough, damage-resistant attributes, it quickly began to falter after several rounds.
“Roar!!”
The monster let out an angry roar.
By now, it was covered in deep red blood, and its figure seemed unsteady.
It pushed aside the two Star Guards and suddenly fixed its gaze on Zhang Xiaoman, who stood at a distance watching the battle, confirming that he was the weakest one present.
With another furious howl, the creature didn’t wait for the Star Guards to regroup but thrust its front paws into the ground and charged straight towards Zhang Xiaoman.
