World-saving Plan: The Only Savior
Chapter 730 - 533: The Projection Over the Town (Two in One)
CHAPTER 730: CHAPTER 533: THE PROJECTION OVER THE TOWN (TWO IN ONE)
About the Containment Department, naturally it was not something that could be easily judged.
Although Lune also knew that what Beelu said made sense, the entire Containment Department had a huge investment and had consumed a large amount of manpower and resources from the Hurricane Bureau, it was not something that could be shut down immediately.
Even as the director of the Hurricane Bureau, Lune could not directly decide to shut it down.
He had to call a meeting, and then get the matter approved through a vote.
Fortunately, although the Containment Department had hidden risks, they were not imminent, giving them time to prepare.
Just as the two had finished this topic, the office door was suddenly pushed open.
An agent rushed in, the first sentence out of his mouth startling Lune.
"Director, come and see! We’ve found something in Nebraska!"
The agent, panting heavily, clearly had just engaged in vigorous exercise.
Lune frowned.
He knew the temperament of his subordinate, and the fact that he looked so distressed implied that the matter was probably unusual.
Without a second word, he immediately signaled for the agent to lead the way.
Seeing this, Beelu, very consciously, followed behind them.
The three of them moved forward and arrived at the ground-level intelligence control center.
By then, the intelligence center was already a hive of activity.
Personnel were moving back and forth, various phones ringing non-stop.
The agents, even upon seeing the director himself coming over, were too busy to greet him.
"General Moore, we are investigating, I will send you the detailed intelligence over a secure frequency later..."
"Congressman Hamilton, please don’t worry, we just heard about the situation too, Pratt Town’s location is really remote, it’s difficult for us to notice anything right away..."
"Ms. Hanna, we have a branch in South Dakota, if a new target is indeed captured, we will immediately transfer it to the containment department there..."
"..."
The surrounding agents and intelligence staff were continuously answering phone calls, apparently all from other departments of the American Government.
Lune walked directly to the main console.
There, a middle-aged Black man who was still on a call, seeing his boss arrive, promptly apologized and hung up the phone temporarily, rushing to greet him.
"Director, you’re here."
Lune stood where he had just been standing, looking at the screen in front of him, and asked,
"Glass, what’s happening? What’s the emergency, and why is it so chaotic here?"
The Black man Glass leaned over the keyboard and brought up a map interface.
"Director, we just received a report saying that something unusual was spotted in the skies over Pratt Town, classified as an orange-level warning, requiring us to investigate immediately."
"Pratt Town?"
Lune was unfamiliar with the name.
However, Glass had already zoomed in on the map, revealing the place.
It was a small town at the border of Nebraska and South Dakota, covering a small area, unknown, so it was normal for Lune, the director, to not know of it.
"Pratt Town is located on the north side of Nebraska, has a small population, less than 500 people."
Glass was zooming in on the town in the map, while explaining the situation there.
"Most of its population are elderly, rarely engaged with the internet, so although the incident occurred a few days ago, it has not been reported."
"We had an agent passing through there on a road trip who noticed the anomaly and reported it immediately."
As he spoke, he brought up a video footage on another screen.
The footage appeared to be shot with a mobile phone, somewhat blurry and not very clear.
In the footage, the sky above the town seemed engulfed by a small shadow, within which it seemed something was moving.
"Zoom in, let’s see what it is."
Lune said.
Then, as the image zoomed in, the details of those shadows became clearer.
"Is this... lightning...?"
In the edges of that shadow, hundreds of small air currents spread through the air, appearing almost like streaks of small lightning.
The sight in the sky was too conspicuous, and although there was no danger perceived yet, anyone with eyes could see the anomaly there.
"When did this shadow appear?"
"About three days ago, the residents there had seen it but didn’t pay attention, thinking it was just a strangely shaped dark cloud."
Glass explained.
"By the time our people noticed it, the shadow had already expanded quite a bit, and there seemed to be something else inside."
As he spoke, he paused the video and zoomed in.
In the sky, besides those traces resembling lightning, there were also some strange figures.
"Alien Species! It really is them!"
Lune whispered, recognizing the true identity of that shadow.
Because its appearance was exactly like one of the monsters in their Containment Department!
Stone Statue Demon!
Lune’s expression turned grim.
No wonder, no wonder those guys were so panicked.
From the number of figures within those shadows, there were probably at least over a hundred Stone Statue Demons.
