Worldwide Awakening: My Soul Kinds Are Lost
Chapter 359: Instead of Stalking, Gets a Slap in the Face_1
CHAPTER 359: CHAPTER 359: INSTEAD OF STALKING, GETS A SLAP IN THE FACE_1
"The taste of this thing was like rotten wood slathered with paste and then grilled," Wang Linchi remarked, dragging the Shadow of Gluttony while chewing on the core of the Human Skin Inn.
After dismantling the Human Skin Inn, the dungeon naturally collapsed. He then decisively unleashed a Fanciful and Fickle, empowered by a Golden Core Illusion and the Philosopher’s Stone, as a diversion before heading towards the next dungeon.
With Wang Linchi’s current recovery rate, he could restore this depleted Golden Core Illusion in about ten minutes.
"Ugh... choking..."
Wang Linchi reached into his throat, forcibly pushing the object down his esophagus. This sight was particularly terrifying to the Shadow of Gluttony. If he’s so rough with himself, he must be even more brutal to others, it thought.
"Whew~ Finally swallowed it." Wang Linchi couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief. The core of the Human Skin Inn was too large; it would have been strange if he hadn’t choked on it.
"Alas, I still don’t have enough Golden Cores," Wang Linchi sighed. He possessed three Golden Cores, but this wasn’t nearly enough for continuous bombardment. One option was to enhance his recovery rate, allowing him to regenerate a Golden Core Illusion instantly after using one. However, this was incredibly difficult, as it would require ten million points of spiritual power—no easy feat. The alternative was to acquire more Golden Cores. But that didn’t seem like a good solution either. If he had more Golden Cores, he’d likely grow extravagant, using them like submachine gun bullets instead of grenades. In that scenario, not only would he still run short, but he’d also burn through them much faster. Besides, where was he going to get so many Golden Cores anyway?
The two additional Golden Core Illusions he possessed were thanks to the Soul Seed·Spirit Corridor.
Hearing Wang Linchi’s words, the Shadow of Gluttony curled up even tighter. It had witnessed Wang Linchi’s methods against the Game System. That terrifying burst of power would have reduced it to a large smear of paste if Wang Linchi hadn’t been suppressing it.
"Are we almost at that large dungeon you mentioned?" Wang Linchi quickly shifted his attention to the Shadow of Gluttony.
His earlier Fanciful and Fickle had indeed dealt another heavy blow to the Game System. The System was still pursuing him, but it couldn’t match his speed. Wang Linchi, however, felt considerable pressure. The Game System was likely still wary of his devastating attacks; if it caught up to him, Wang Linchi would genuinely have to reveal more of his trump cards.
"Soon, just around the corner!" the Shadow of Gluttony called out obediently.
"Left turn or right turn?" Wang Linchi asked. He felt this creature was truly deceitful.
"Left turn," the Shadow of Gluttony replied. It didn’t dare mislead Wang Linchi. After all, if it tried any tricks, Wang Linchi would probably devour it before the Game System could even finish it off. It never doubted Wang Linchi’s eating efficiency.
"Now, turn! ...Wrong! That’s right! Can’t you tell left from right?!" The Shadow of Gluttony’s expression was one of utter disbelief. What the hell?! How can someone so powerful get the direction wrong?
"I’m not wrong. Your senses are mistaken," Wang Linchi muttered. Was the Game System a fool? Would it let him enter another dungeon to wreak havoc? Every time he entered a dungeon, the Game System lost a resource point. Consequently, it had set up a left-right inversion effect at the location of this large dungeon. If he had truly turned left, he would have fallen into its trap. Wang Linchi’s Soul Vision and Thought Field weren’t just for show.
Once Wang Linchi passed through the inverted area, the Shadow of Gluttony also recognized it. "Damn, that’s truly insidious!" it exclaimed.
"Hehe, this time I’ve outsmarted it again..."
CLANG!
Before Wang Linchi could finish his sentence, he slammed headfirst into the dungeon. Normally, he should have entered, but an invisible barrier now blocked him.
"Well, well, this thing has a backup plan. It’s not letting me in directly," Wang Linchi said, getting up and rubbing his nose.
"What do we do now, Boss? The Game System is catching up!" The Shadow of Gluttony was terrified.
Opposing the Game System never led to a good end.
"Don’t worry, I have a plan," Wang Linchi said, taking out a Philosopher’s Stone.
"Boss, wait! At this close range, we’ll also be caught in the bla—" The Shadow of Gluttony didn’t get to finish. He saw the Philosopher’s Stone in Wang Linchi’s hand crumble to dust, followed by Fanciful and Fickle manifesting and unleashing a terrifying Impact. The Shadow of Gluttony’s entire form was stretched thin like a noodle by the shockwave.
If Wang Linchi hadn’t been holding onto it, it would have been blown away. As it was, it was in a sorry state; a large layer of its shadow had been stripped away by the force of the blast.
And that was without taking a direct hit; otherwise, it would have been reduced to a puddle on the spot.
Under the Impact of Fanciful and Fickle, the nearest invisible barrier rapidly spiderwebbed with clearly visible cracks.
Wang Linchi looked up and saw another barrage of meteors hurtling down.
"Is that all you’ve got? Hurling meteors, and then more meteors?" Wang Linchi scoffed, then turned and kicked the heavily cracked barrier.
That kick was the last straw. The invisible barrier shattered like glass.
Just as Wang Linchi, dragging the noodle-like Shadow of Gluttony, was about to dash into the large dungeon, he abruptly stopped.
"Too late."
The meteors were falling much faster than he could enter the dungeon.
Although dealing with meteors might have seemed easy for him, a direct hit would still leave him severely injured, not to mention there was more than one.
He fumbled for another Philosopher’s Stone, but he had no more of those created with ten million spiritual power left.
"Go, self-destruct," Wang Linchi ordered the Saint Master, sending it to intercept the attack.
The Saint Master didn’t hesitate for a moment, transforming into a streak of light and rushing towards the meteor shower descending from the sky.
Wang Linchi turned and fled.
Fire Light erupted in the sky. While not as potent as his Fanciful and Fickle amplified by a Golden Core Illusion and a Philosopher’s Stone, it was still powerful enough to directly intercept the meteor rain.
The Shadow of Gluttony’s heart lurched. That was one of Wang Linchi’s own underlings, yet he had sacrificed it without a second thought.
Am I going to be next?!!! The Shadow of Gluttony felt a wave of despair.
Fortunately, it was safe for now. Thanks to the Saint Master’s delaying tactic, Wang Linchi successfully entered the large dungeon.
The Game System’s power arrived an instant later but couldn’t penetrate, blocked by the interwoven defenses of other Erroneous Sins from the outside.
Unless the Game System had lost its mind, advancing further would mean it, an Erroneous Sin itself, would become entangled with all the other Erroneous Sins in this large dungeon. Escaping then would be incredibly difficult. If things went wrong and it was overthrown, it would be tantamount to losing everything.
Otherwise, why would the Game System bother with ’farming’ operations? It was precisely this method that allowed it to gain high profits with low risk.
Entering this dungeon was like entering a meat-processing plant. The Game System had built the outer shell, but not the interior. If it entered, it too would become one of the processed.
After Wang Linchi entered, a vague figure emerged. Its form, gender, age, or even whether it was animal or plant, was indiscernible. It then stood silently, evidently planning to ambush Wang Linchi there.
Wang Linchi intended to wreak havoc. Once finished, he would undoubtedly have to exit. Even if he chose not to, should he disrupt too many of the ’error rules,’ the Game System could intervene with its power and let him taste its might.
...
Deep in the third subterranean level, Ye Tian sat cross-legged on the ground. Everything around him was distorting, showing signs of being assimilated.
"Cough! This is so difficult," Ye Tian coughed up a mouthful of blood, his internal organs twisting violently.
Although he had become an Erroneous Sin, he still maintained a human bodily structure. He wouldn’t die, but the associated agony was no less—a price he paid to maintain his sense of self.
After all, he had employed special means when he became the Erroneous Sin known as the Fallen Player.
"The subterranean world is fundamentally the body of the Sky God. It won’t be easy, even with my help," a hazy figure spoke from behind Ye Tian.
The Fate Devil God was currently aiding Ye Tian in his Qi Luck Form. This was, after all, a gamble of life and death. If they won, not only would the Fate Devil God survive, but he would also achieve a great leap in power—a heavenly ascent, so to speak. After all, he and Ye Tian were Twinning.
He had never considered usurping or betraying Ye Tian. If he usurped him, he would be the one facing the Game System. Betray Ye Tian and defect to the Game System? He’d likely be devoured down to the last scrap.
"I never thought the underground world had such origins! If we succeed in Refining it, we can definitely stand against the Game System!" Ye Tian exclaimed, enduring the agonizing pain. Immediately after he spoke, his eyeballs seemed to burst under the immense pressure, but because he was an Erroneous Sin, they regenerated instantly.
