Worldwide Awakening: My Soul Kinds Are Lost
Chapter 51: Can’t Even Listen to Music Peacefully_1
CHAPTER 51: CHAPTER 51: CAN’T EVEN LISTEN TO MUSIC PEACEFULLY_1
"When you bought the tickets, didn’t you consider this situation?" Wang Linchi looked at the massive pillar in front of him and couldn’t help but comment.
Ruan Tian was resentful as well. Their seats actually had a pretty good view, provided a massive pillar wasn’t blocking them.
This was likely a load-bearing pillar, and their seats were right behind it, perfectly obstructing the view they should have had.
"How was I supposed to know there’d be a pillar here..." Ruan Tian was also speechless but quickly offered some consolation, "Don’t worry, we’re here for the music, not to see the performer."
"I’d love to watch, but the problem is I can’t see a thing," Wang Linchi added.
What’s the point of coming to Yi Hong Building just to listen to music? People come here to see their risqué performance, and now we can’t see the most important part. These tickets were a total rip-off.
"Next time, I’ll choose better. There’s another show, and I’ll book early," Ruan Tian said, though he was also unhappy.
The ticket prices hadn’t dropped at all, and the seating hadn’t improved one bit.
Soon, after some opening remarks, the host announced the arrival of the renowned music artist. However, even after waiting for ten minutes and seeing various staff members bustling in and out, the artist hadn’t appeared.
This made the audience restless.
"What’s going on?" Ruan Tian was also puzzled.
Wang Linchi, however, didn’t care about any of that. He had already polished off a large fruit platter and then signaled the waiter to bring two more.
The waiter didn’t comment. Considering each ticket cost ninety-nine yuan, it wasn’t a big deal if they ate a little extra fruit.
"Who knows? Maybe that music artist eloped with someone," Wang Linchi commented casually. Without Yan Ming King in the picture, such a thing would be unlikely. But now, the possibility was quite high.
"Don’t be ridiculous. She signed a contract. If she really eloped, she’d have to pay a hefty compensation," Ruan Tian said, not believing it at all.
To put it nicely, she was a ’music artist’; to put it bluntly, just a singer propped up by patrons.
Fortunately, the host quickly arranged the next act. However, it wasn’t the music artist; instead, Yi Hong Building’s top performer took the stage. And the replacement act was even more flamboyant, but Wang Linchi couldn’t see, which was rather frustrating.
However, this didn’t satisfy the audience. Did they come here for the top performer? Seeing the top performer wasn’t out of the question, but it usually didn’t cost this much! The regular price for Yi Hong Building, even with the top performer, was only thirty-three yuan a ticket. Now, they were paying ninety-nine to watch content worth thirty-three. Who would agree to that?
Even Ruan Tian felt swindled.
The original advertisement was for a solo show by the music artist. Now, forget a solo show; the music artist herself was gone, leaving only... well, a show.
"This one’s my fault, Wang. I made you waste ninety-nine yuan. I’ll treat you to dinner tonight as an apology," Ruan Tian said, his expression clearly displeased.
His displeasure wasn’t directed at Wang Linchi but at Yi Hong Building.
Ruan Tian didn’t care about the money. He was reasonably well-off, and ninety-nine yuan was pocket change to him. What truly bothered him was the loss of face.
"In that case, I won’t stand on ceremony. But as for Yi Hong Building, Brother Ruan, you’d best not come back. This place is just... mediocre," Wang Linchi said, shaking his head.
He was sure the music artist had likely become one of Yan Ming King’s acquisitions. Otherwise, how could Yi Hong Building just swallow this indignity? Compared to offending Yan Ming King, it was far preferable to offend them—Awakeners with non-combat type Soul Resemblances.
Time ticked by. Many people left early, including Wang Linchi and Ruan Tian. Their seats were terrible to begin with, and then this debacle happened.
Why would they stay any longer?
As they were leaving, Yi Hong Building showed no sign of apology, seemingly unconcerned about its reputation.
It figured. To run a place charging meat prices for vegetarian dishes in Yi Ning Prefecture, where every inch of land was gold, and to stay in business for so long—they had to have powerful backing.
The two didn’t go their separate ways. Ruan Tian took Wang Linchi to a restaurant, handed him the menu, and said, "Order whatever you like, Brother Wang."
Wang Linchi glanced at it and ordered a few simple home-style dishes. Seeing this, Ruan Tian added several signature dishes to the order.
He could see Wang Linchi was being considerate, but he couldn’t fail to reciprocate the courtesy.
The dishes arrived quickly. Ruan Tian wasn’t a tea drinker, and they weren’t the type to rely on alcohol to oil their interactions. So, it was genuinely just a simple meal and conversation.
"The more I think about that whole mess, the angrier I get," Ruan Tian complained to Wang Linchi as they ate.
Wang Linchi listened quietly, occasionally making a brief comment.
Just as Ruan Tian was getting worked up, a loud bang echoed from not far away, making him jump in fright.
"What was that? Who dares cause trouble in Yi Ning Prefecture?" Ruan Tian exclaimed, shocked, once he’d collected himself.
"Well, the Baylong Religion dared to," Wang Linchi retorted.
"That was different. The Baylong Religion was uprooted right after they caused trouble," Ruan Tian said.
The incident in Qinghe City had been hushed up and suppressed.
If it had been something minor, the Governor wouldn’t have gone to such lengths. If the news of the Baylong Religion’s massacre in the city got out, he would lose his position. Under the weight of absolute power, there was simply no way for this news to leak.
Wang Linchi had also been warned not to speak of it.
As for Wang Linchi, he couldn’t care less.
It was their business to manage their own affairs. However, once he gained enough power, he would definitely not let the Baylong Religion off the hook. After all, they had wronged him. If his strength proved insufficient in the future, then so be it. He was a rather flexible person and wouldn’t risk his life just to vent his anger. As for the blood debt of Qinghe City, truth be told, even the Court didn’t care, so why should he? He was an orphan, had no close friends, and wasn’t even from Qinghe City. He’d be willing to help if it were within his capabilities, but without enough strength even to protect himself, how could he possibly seek revenge?
"They’re fighting... That scene looks familiar," Ruan Tian said, standing at the window and watching the commotion in the distance.
"We just came from there, of course it looks familiar," Wang Linchi retorted. Based on his calculations, the fight was happening right at Yi Hong Building’s location.
"Yan Ming King, you dare steal my woman!!!" an enraged roar echoed.
Hearing this, Wang Linchi was speechless. Good thing they’d left quickly; otherwise, they really might have been caught in the crossfire.
"This fellow is certainly bold, daring to shout something like that. Now the entire Yi Ning Prefecture will know Yan Ming King cuckolded him," Ruan Tian marveled.
He had no idea who this person was, but anyone who could confront Yan Ming King couldn’t be simple. For starters, their status wouldn’t be low.
"Or maybe he’s just a simp," Wang Linchi mused. In this kind of situation, the chances of actually being cuckolded were far less than that of a simp being dumped by his goddess.
