Worldwide Class Change: An Invincible Swordsman
Chapter 41, Besieged_1
CHAPTER 41: CHAPTER 41, BESIEGED_1
"Boss, I leveled up, to Level 16."
"How much experience do you need now?"
"60,000 experience."
Jiang Chen nodded. "Sixty thousand experience points. I need one hundred thousand to Level up. I heard that after the First-stage, the experience needed is even more terrifying, requiring a million experience points."
"A million? How many years would that take to Level up?"
"That’s not certain. By then, the experience from Level 50 monsters will definitely be high, not just a hundred points."
Wang Gang nodded.
The higher the Level of the Demonic Beings, the more experience they provide.
In the beginning, leveling up is fast, but later it will gradually slow down, to the point where it might take ten days, or even months, to Level up.
The two continued walking forward...
CLICK...
Jiang Chen turned his head, paying close attention to the movements around them.
Wang Gang asked, puzzled, "What’s the matter?"
"It’s nothing. Keep walking."
In three years, Jiang Chen had become quite familiar with various occupations, including Skills that allowed one to go into Stealth. That means it has to be an assassin or a Thief.
Are we being targeted?
The Thief Occupation didn’t have high Offensive Power, but it possessed a very overpowered Skill: Stealth. This Skill allowed them to hide their presence. It was an occupation meant for scouting information and was the Krypton Star of Priests and Magicians, posing a great threat to them.
The two continued forward.
Jiang Chen whispered, "It’s very possible we’re being watched."
"What’s going on?"
"I’m not sure. It might be an assassin or a Thief, skilled in Stealth. Someone wants to kill me."
Wang Gang frowned deeply. "Who?"
"I don’t know yet, but we might encounter danger. When we reach the Goblin Territory, you should use a Town-return Scroll immediately."
"How can I do that? How can I leave you alone to face the danger?"
"Good brother, the other party might be a Level 40 Thief. If you try to block them and die, I’ll burn paper money for you."
Wang Gang was startled. A Level 40 Thief? How the hell can I block that? Wouldn’t I die with one strike?
Wang Gang shuddered. "Boss, how about we both head back to town? This... this Thief is really formidable. We should go back and get someone to take him down."
"It’s too late to find someone. You go back; I can handle it."
"But that’s a Level 40 Thief!"
"Don’t worry, I have it under control."
The two conversed cautiously and continued walking. This was Jiang Chen’s speculation. Based on the sound of something breaking earlier, he felt it was highly likely.
Thieves were a branch of the Occupation as an Assassin, excelling in assassination attacks.
With his Shield, Jiang Chen wasn’t afraid of Thieves. He even had Jianqi Zongheng, a passive attack Skill that affected anything within two meters. If any Thief dared to come close, they were sure to be struck.
The two walked on, pretending nothing was amiss.
Wang Gang’s heart was filled with unease, fearing being killed by a high-Level assassin.
Jiang Chen gave Wang Gang a meaningful glance.
Wang Gang nodded slightly. "Boss, we’re in the Goblin Territory. I think I should leave first; the Level here is too high for me."
"Fine, you go back to town."
Wang Gang crushed the Town-return Scroll. A surge of white light enveloped him. This glow lasted for ten seconds, and after those ten seconds, Wang Gang disappeared from sight.
The Town-return Scroll required ten seconds to activate and couldn’t be used just anywhere. It was only usable if a Town-return altar was nearby, and it only functioned within the same world.
It could not be used across different worlds.
Wang Gang’s Town-return Scroll could only take him back to Naga Rift Town.
Jiang Chen watched Wang Gang leave and breathed a sigh of relief. With a sneer, he thought, I really want to see who is after me.
My Shield’s 600,000 HP... it isn’t enough, Jiang Chen thought. I’ll consider things after upgrading it to one million HP.
Jiang Chen looked at the Goblins on the grassland.
[Demonic Goblin]
[Level: 24]
[HP: 24,000/24,000]
[Physical Attack: 120-160]
[Physical Defense Power: 100-120]
[Magical defense power: 110-130]
[Introduction: Goblin, the King of the grasslands]
Jiang Chen walked towards a Demonic Goblin and struck it down with his sword. The Demonic Goblin didn’t even have time to scream before it was killed, its body cleaved in two.
The Thief stood atop a hill, watching Jiang Chen’s movements. What a monstrous Skill! Such high Offensive Power! he exclaimed inwardly. To one-shot a Demonic Goblin with 24,000 HP... That’s definitely Silver-grade equipment, and the Weapon in his hand must be at least Silver-grade too!
Zhuang Xingguo arrived with a dozen men in tow.
"Where is he?"
"Just ahead."
Zhuang Xingguo nodded. "Good. Everyone spread out. Attack as soon as you see me throw away my cigarette butt, and be careful."
"Don’t worry, Brother Zhuang. He’s just a newbie; it’s not a big deal."
"A Level 20 Swordsman? I can kill him instantly."
"He’s just a recent graduate. Even with Silver-grade equipment, so what? We’re all Level 40; equipment alone can’t bridge that gap in Levels."
Zhuang Xingguo said, "Even when a lion fights a rabbit, it uses all its strength. Be careful. Don’t let him have a chance to use a Town-return Scroll."
"Understood."
Fifteen Archers dispersed in an instant...
Grouped in threes, they headed towards the great grassland.
As Jiang Chen was hunting Demonic Beings, he noticed Archers appearing nearby, also hunting. Seeing them kill Demonic Goblins with just two arrows, he understood these people were after him.
The Archers gradually formed an encirclement. Each one seemed to be focused on Demonic Goblins, but Jiang Chen knew they were there for him.
Their Levels were too high; killing Demonic Beings in three arrows wouldn’t upgrade their experience.
Jiang Chen observed their actions.
If Jiang Chen wanted to leave, the Archers couldn’t stop him. But he had no intention of leaving; he wanted to know who was trying to kill him.
Jiang Chen saw someone approaching from directly behind him: it was none other than Zhuang Xingguo.
Zhuang Xingguo smiled. "Young man, hunting Demonic Beings alone?"
Jiang Chen turned around. "So, it’s you who wants to kill me?"
"Not bad, you figured it out. I admire your courage. Knowing we want to kill you, yet you didn’t run away. But sadly, you can’t escape now."
Jiang Chen sneered, "Just with you trash?"
"Trash? You really think too highly of yourself. You’re just a Level 20 youngster. The equipment on you must be quite valuable."
Meng Zhenghao stepped out from behind. "Why bother talking to him? Just kill him."
Jiang Chen looked at Meng Zhenghao. So it’s this guy, he thought.
Jiang Chen remembered Wang Gang mentioning that Meng Zhenghao had framed him for cheating, resulting in his expulsion. He hadn’t expected this person to bear such a grudge and want to kill him.
"So, it was you."
"Hmph! If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have been expelled. But so what? I didn’t want to go to that school anyway. Expelled is expelled. The equipment you’re wearing must be really nice—a Silver-grade Suit. Just right for me."
Zhuang Xingguo flicked away his cigarette butt and shouted, "Attack!"
SWOOSH! SWOOSH! SWOOSH! SWOOSH!
More than a dozen Archers instantly launched an assault on Jiang Chen. Various arrows—Demonic-breaking Arrows, Explosive Arrows, and Speed Arrows—raced towards him with the speed of thunder.
Just then, Jiang Chen disappeared...
All the Archers were dumbfounded. Disappeared? How is that possible? Could he have used a Town-return Scroll? No, that’s not right. Using a Town-return Scroll takes ten seconds, and it can’t be interrupted. If it’s disrupted, all effort is wasted. But how could someone just disappear without a trace?
