CHAPTER 96: CHAPTER 96, THE COLLEGE SENIOR’S DRIVING SPEED IS SO FAST_1
"That’s a battle of a hundred thousand, not a solo fight. Anyone who charges in alone is doomed. Do you think the others will just stand there and let you chop them down?"
Ruo Li chuckled. "Raising my spear and joining the fray without hesitation, I’m all for that idea."
Jiang Chen laughed too.
Senior Sister is quick with the innuendos.
This is getting racy, I can’t keep up!
Jiang Chen nodded. "Charge through their ranks seven times, fight them for a thousand rounds, battle them for three days and three nights..."
HEHEHE...
Ruo Li burst into wild laughter.
Black Phoenix’s face darkened. "I’m discussing battle strategies and how to secure victory, and you two are here flirting? Do you even take me seriously?"
Black Phoenix was momentarily speechless. "Can we please be serious?"
Ruo Li coughed, then said earnestly, "Let’s discuss business. We can talk more about ’raising the spear and taking to the field’ later."
Black Phoenix looked at Jiang Chen and said, "Jiang Chen, I know you’re formidable, but this is a battle against a hundred thousand. Can you face a hundred thousand soldiers?"
Jiang Chen nodded. "I should be able to."
Black Phoenix rolled her eyes. "Before the main battle, there will be a ’solo showdown.’"
"What do you mean?"
"It’s a battle for morale. Each side will send out one person, typically the champion of the individual alliance tournament."
Jiang Chen understood. So, it’s just a duel!
When it came to duels, Jiang Chen had never feared anyone.
Black Phoenix continued, "So I want you to prepare thoroughly. When the solo showdown happens, I truly hope you can participate. As the commander, I cannot enter the fray myself."
Jiang Chen nodded; that wasn’t a problem.
He also knew Black Phoenix wouldn’t fight. If she participated and lost, the entire Dragon Zone Union would likely face a devastating setback. A force of one hundred thousand suddenly without their commander—the implications were unthinkable.
It was like two armies clashing, and one side suddenly losing its general. How could such a battle even be fought?
Black Phoenix continued, "The Nordic European Union and Mei Zone’s Union are very likely to join forces. They’ll probably try to cripple the other three alliances before facing each other."
"I plan to ally with the Han Union and the Sakura Alliance to counter them."
Jiang Chen frowned; he didn’t like the sound of those names at all.
Jiang Chen said, "There’s no need. I’ll handle the Nordic European Union and Mei Zone’s Union by myself. You can deal with the Sakura Alliance when you find the time."
Black Phoenix didn’t know how to dissuade him.
Does he really think he’s that incredible? Taking on two hundred thousand soldiers alone? That’s sheer, boundless arrogance!
Black Phoenix had figured it out. Jiang Chen wasn’t the commander type. He couldn’t grasp the bigger picture or control the overall situation; he was a lone wolf.
Ruo Li chuckled. "Junior, don’t you think you’re being a bit overconfident?"
Jiang Chen remained silent. Thinking it over, he realized he might indeed be too confident. These were a hundred thousand warriors, not Demonic Beings, but intelligent fighters.
He then thought of the Dragon Knights.
"I have a Dragon Egg. How can I hatch it?"
The two women exchanged a glance.
A Dragon Egg?
How did this guy manage to get his hands on one of those?
When Dragon Knights awaken their specialized profession, they are automatically assigned a Dragon Egg. This is their Covenant Beast, which grows alongside them, and it’s the Dragon Knight’s greatest advantage.
Other professions wanting a Covenant Beast must complete the First-stage advancement and then unlock a contract quest to obtain their own unique beast companion.
There are many kinds of Covenant Beasts, but the best are naturally dragons.
Ruo Li asked, "Did you get the Dragon Egg from a Secret Realm?"
Jiang Chen remained silent.
Seeing his expression, they understood. It really was a Dragon Egg from a Secret Realm! Could that mean it was a Golden Dragon’s egg?
The Golden Dragon is an incredibly potent Covenant Beast. It masters Five Elements Magic, including the formidable Destruction Magic. Its Breath of Destruction can make even Heroes tremble in fear.
Black Phoenix explained, "To bond with a Covenant Beast, you need to start the quest during the First-stage, and you also need the Heart of the Red Dragon."
"The Heart of the Red Dragon? What kind of material is that?"
"It comes from a Red Dragon found in the Dragon’s Den, which is in another world. Many Heroes venture into the Dragon’s Den after their First-stage advancement to find precious Dragon Eggs and acquire Covenant Beasts."
"However, for hatching and raising it, it’s best to find a Beast Tamer from Shenlong Academy. The instructors there will help you hatch the golden egg. You definitely shouldn’t try to hatch it yourself. If you end up with a sickly dragon, you’ll be out of luck."
The three of them chatted for a while longer. Jiang Chen didn’t understand the Alliance War at all. When Black Phoenix asked for his input, he didn’t have any good suggestions. He wasn’t a commander, had never fought in a war, and knew nothing about tactical formations.
His idea of strategy was simple: warriors in the front, Mages in the back, with Archers mixed in. Any Hero would understand that much; Black Phoenix couldn’t possibly be unaware of it.
The three then parted ways.
Black Phoenix said, "With him participating, the individual Alliance battles won’t be a problem."
Ruo Li nodded. "Definitely not a problem. This guy killed a Golden Dragon all by himself. Such a formidable being, defeated by him... Isn’t his sword a bit too long?"
Ruo Li mused to herself, could other parts of him be long too?
Black Phoenix was equally astounded. To single-handedly challenge a Golden Dragon—what an incredibly powerful existence he must be!
This was precisely why Black Phoenix had sought out Jiang Chen: for the individual duels of the Five Alliances.
「The next day.」
「In the square.」
Dean Zhang Wenchen looked at the many students. Three years had passed again—the time for the Five Alliances’ war had arrived, and it had been years since they had clinched first place.
"My fellow students, the time for the Alliance War has come!" he announced. "I see the future in you. I see honor. The honor of the Dragon Zone Union rests upon your shoulders."
"Let us fight for the Alliance!"
The other students were exceptionally excited, chanting, "Fight for the Alliance!"
"Fight for the Alliance!"
"Fight for the Alliance!"
Dean Zhang Wenchen nodded. "Go!"
The rest of the students walked into the Teleportation Array one after another, with Jiang Chen following behind Ruo Li. He was a member of the Dark Legion, and in fact, its sole representative participating in the Alliance War.
The Alliance War officially began.
The group entered a huge city; other students were also arriving.
"It’s the students from Shenlong Academy!"
"Look at their equipment! All of them in Heavy Armor—such dazzling gear!"
"Worthy of being the top institution in the Dragon Zone. Truly impressive."
"I heard the commander this time is a woman named Black Phoenix."
"You don’t even know her? She’s Black Dragon’s sister, an HP Recovery Warrior who has awakened her Talent. In close combat, she’s practically invincible."
"All ten Legions of the Dragon God Academy have arrived."
Everyone gathered in the square. Standing there was a beautiful woman in a particularly conspicuous blue Heavy Armor set, watching them. It was a Gold set of equipment, and she seemed completely unafraid of anyone coveting it.
Jiang Chen asked in a low voice, "Who is that woman?"
"A Divine Envoy."
"A Divine Envoy? What’s she doing here? Is she also participating?"
"Of course not. She’s a Divine Envoy of the Dragon Zone Union. Since she’s part of the Dragon Zone Union herself, she naturally hopes we can win first place. Divine Envoys don’t intervene in any battles; they only observe."
Jiang Chen pondered this. If a Divine Envoy were to join the fight, the whole meaning of the competition would change. That woman was clad in a Gold level set; she was clearly a powerful figure, probably a powerhouse who had completed her First-stage advancement.
Ruo Li chuckled. "Isn’t Divine Gods beautiful?"
"Yeah."
"You like teasing women, don’t you? Go on, try teasing her."
Jiang Chen shot her a sidelong glance. Senior Sister, you must have some misunderstanding about me! What do you mean I *like* to tease women? I’ve only ever teased one person, and that was during a conflict, which led to my actions!
Besides, she’s Divine Gods; I wouldn’t dare approach her.
Joking is one thing, but you don’t mess with your life.
The other students looked at Divine Gods, all of them excited.
Some even knelt on the spot to pay homage to Divine Gods. Most of them were Heavy Armored Warriors; even Black Phoenix knelt.
