Wrong Love, Final Goodbye: She'll Never Look Back
Chapter 15: A New Way to Catch His Attention
CHAPTER 15: CHAPTER 15: A NEW WAY TO CATCH HIS ATTENTION
Tanya, of course, guessed Joy’s thoughts. Her eyes, hidden behind sunglasses, dimmed slightly. Vincent, as always, allowed Joy to act freely.
"Alright, then let your brother accompany you. Dad will watch you walk into school from the car."
"Thank you, Dad." Joy smiled sweetly.
Uneasy, Tanya reminded them, "Caden, Joy, be careful on the road, watch out for your safety."
’Bang——’
Joy slammed the car door shut and walked away without looking back.
Caden took a few steps and turned back to glance at the car behind them. Tanya had one hand out the window, still waving goodbye.
He felt a little sorry, and even though he knew Tanya couldn’t see, Caden still waved back at her.
Tanya finally felt a bit of comfort in her heart.
At least Caden wasn’t completely rejecting her...
Vincent held the steering wheel with one hand, glanced sideways at Tanya, and said, "Tanya, a client will be visiting the company soon. I need to entertain them personally. I’ll drop you off at the corner and have the driver take you home."
Tanya refused, "No need, Vincent. I want to go to the company with you."
Vincent was slightly taken aback, clearly not expecting Tanya to be so eager to return to the company.
"Are you sure?" He asked, frowning.
"Yes, even though I can’t see, I can learn about the current research status and project progress from colleagues, which will help me smoothly integrate later."
Vincent tapped his index finger lightly on the steering wheel, lost in thought, and after a few seconds, he agreed, "Alright."
Tanya followed Vincent back to Zenith Group.
Five years had passed, yet the place still looked familiar to her.
Vincent, as soon as he walked in, drew all eyes on him. The employees he passed greeted him, calling out "President Hawthorne." Vincent slightly nodded in response.
Tanya walked beside Vincent, her hand hooked around his arm and holding a blind cane in the other, naturally attracting countless curious gazes.
It had been five years, and the old employees had forgotten her, while the new ones couldn’t have known her.
But Vincent had no intention of introducing her.
"President Hawthorne." His assistant Jonah Rivers hurried over. Seeing Tanya with Vincent, he was extremely surprised and couldn’t hide his excitement in his voice, "Mrs. Hawthorne, you’re awake!"
Tanya looked at the young man in a suit before her and smiled.
"Long time no see, Assistant Rivers."
She remembered Jonah Rivers.
Six years ago, he joined Zenith Group and was interviewed by Tanya personally.
She didn’t expect that he would now be Vincent’s chief assistant.
Vincent glanced at his vibrating phone and pressed it to mute the screen without a change in expression.
"Tanya, the client has arrived. I have to go over first. Let Jonah show you around the company, and call me if you need anything."
Tanya considerately said, "You go ahead and be busy, don’t worry about me."
Before leaving, Vincent leaned in close and planted a kiss on Tanya’s cheek, keeping up the image of a loving husband in the eyes of outsiders.
Tanya was already sick of his act but had to force a smile to cooperate.
Little did they know, Cindy Lynn, from the corner on the second floor, saw the scene clearly, gripping her folder tightly...
After Vincent left, Jonah Rivers sought Tanya’s suggestion.
"Madam, where would you like to go first?"
Tanya had a clear goal, "Take me to the R&D department."
It was the place she was most familiar with, and pharmaceutical research was her forte.
On the other side, Vincent stepped out of his private elevator, striding towards the office and pushing open the door to find Rhys Lucas’s figure, who had been waiting on the sofa for a long time.
"You’re late." Rhys took a sip of coffee.
Vincent replied with slight helplessness, "Tanya insisted on coming to the company, it took some time to arrange."
"Tanya Sinclair?" Rhys frowned at the thought of that woman, "Isn’t she still blind? Yet she insists on sticking to you?"
Rhys’s face was full of sarcasm, "She’s certainly consistent with her affections for you, like indelible glue..."
Recalling the things Tanya had done in the past, Rhys couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh, "Without such extraordinary means and thick skin, how else could someone like her marry into the Hawthorne Family?"
Listening to Rhys’s words, Vincent didn’t refute them. His expression gradually became intriguing.
Indeed, everyone around him knew that Tanya’s obsession with him for the past decade was to the point of no return, so how could she change?
Uprooting the tulips in the garden to plant yellow roses, maybe it was just a ploy by Tanya to re-attract his attention after waking up.
Understanding this, Vincent relaxed completely.
The vague discomfort on his mind for the past two days dissipated significantly.
He looked at Rhys and subtly said, "That’s enough. Tanya, after all, is my wife and the mother of my two children. Don’t say these things in front of her."
Rhys understood Vincent’s thoughts and curled his lips nonchalantly, "Don’t worry, I’ll save you face in public."
Naturally, Rhys wasn’t here today just to vent about Tanya to Vincent.
"Last night, I went back and probed with my family’s Old Master, and it’s not The Pierce Family’s famous young master, but the elusive second son of The Pierce Family, who’s behind the acquisition of Westgard Pharmaceuticals..." Rhys looked meaningfully at Vincent as he placed his coffee cup back on the table, and said the name, "Declan Pierce."
Vincent’s expression darkened slightly.
In their circle, The Lucas Family might not be the wealthiest, and compared to The Hawthorne Family, they might be slightly inferior. But The Lucas Family had been in politics for many years, and when Old Master Lucas was at his peak, he could enter The Presidential Palace without prior notice.
Thus, The Lucas Family’s status in the circle had always been high, enough to genuinely forge some connections with The Pierce Family.
Publicly, Justin Pierce was recognized as the heir of The Pierce Family. But in recent years, rumors began circulating that there was another illegitimate son of Old Master Pierce, who was Declan Pierce.
Vincent frowned.
If it were Zeke Pierce, it would be easy to handle. He could find an intermediary, get introduced, and meet Zeke Pierce in person to discuss future collaboration. He was confident in persuading Zeke Pierce.
But Declan Pierce...
Vincent looked at Rhys Lucas, "Do you know much about Declan Pierce?"
"..."
Rhys paused at the question, his mind flashing back to the scene he encountered Declan Pierce at an underground club in Country M over half a year ago.
That man, half his face covered in blood, smiled devilishly, slowly lifting his eyes. The glance was vicious and cruel, filled with bloodthirsty excitement... among ten thousand people, it’s impossible to find someone so mad and ruthless!
Rhys still had lingering fears to this day.
He solemnly warned Vincent, "Declan Pierce is someone you’re better off not provoking..."
