CHAPTER 235: CHAPTER 235: EVERY WORD CUTS HIM TO PIECES

Ms. Sinclair’s words suggest that she plans to completely sever ties with President Pierce.

Janne: "Ms. Sinclair, our President Pierce, he..."

"Oh, by the way, you don’t need to settle the final payment for this project with me. Consider it something I owe President Pierce. Even if you pay me, I won’t accept it. I’ll donate it to those in need in President Pierce’s name."

Over the past five years, Declan helped maintain and care for her mother’s grave, and Tanya Sinclair has always been grateful. She inquired with the cemetery’s staff, calculated all the costs plus interest for Declan, but he did not accept them.

With Tanya Sinclair having said this much, Janne, as an assistant, couldn’t say much more, so she just said, "I will report this to President Pierce."

"Alright, thank you, Special Assistant Hayes."

"Ms. Sinclair, is there not even a little, a slight chance of having feelings for our President Pierce?"

Janne couldn’t help but ask.

But before hearing Tanya Sinclair’s response, the phone was suddenly no longer in Janne’s hand.

Who the heck dared to snatch his phone!

Janne turned his head, about to get angry, only to see Declan standing behind him, looking icy.

Janne: "..."

Declan initially came to find Janne to handle something, learning from the anxious executive being reprimanded that Assistant Hayes was on the phone outside the door.

Then, as he walked over, he heard this phrase...

Tanya naturally did not know the phone had changed hands and still thought the person on the other end was Janne.

Is there no possibility of her having feelings for Declan?

It would be false to say she is not grateful; since she woke up, Declan has been helping her in many ways.

It’s not useless verbal concern, after all, she knows that his words are sharp-tongued; he sincerely considers her by being there for her when she needs it, as if he always appears just in time.

But to say she is moved, it’s way too soon...

She’s just stepped out of a fifteen-year entanglement with Vincent Hawthorne, having no intention to consider these matters. Yet, between her and Declan, it’s just not possible.

"No, I only have gratitude for President Pierce, no romantic feelings." Tanya said calmly, "There were none before, none now, and I think there won’t be any in the future either."

Every word was like digging into his heart.

Just like that, she sentenced him without leaving any room.

Declan closed his eyes, hiding the surge of emotions beneath them.

Ha, there indeed exists a person, who with just a few simple words, has such a lethality towards him...

Good job, Tanya Sinclair.

Tanya Sinclair remained completely unaware of what had happened.

She finished speaking, waited for a few seconds, but didn’t hear a response from Janne, naturally suspecting, "Special Assistant Hayes?"

At last, from the other side came Janne’s voice.

"Ms. Sinclair, I have a bit of an urgent matter here, so I’ll need to go first."

His voice was rushed and it sounded urgent.

"Alright, you go ahead, I won’t disturb you."

Tanya Sinclair hung up the phone.

After being busy for a while, the doorbell rang, and Tanya, upon glancing through the video intercom, saw a delivery guy standing at the door holding a large bouquet.

She was a bit puzzled, "Hello, is this delivered to the wrong address?"

The delivery guy checked the receipt.

"Does Ms. Tanya Sinclair live here? Someone ordered flowers at the store, to be sent to you."

Tanya Sinclair: "..."

She opened the door, looking at the large and vibrant bouquet of red roses, feeling a bit of a headache.

"I’m Tanya Sinclair, may I ask who sent the flowers?"

It couldn’t be from Daisy Bell, she knows Tanya dislikes red roses.

But before the delivery guy could speak, Tanya received a message from Julian Poole on her phone.

Julian: [Did the flowers arrive?]

Tanya Sinclair: "..."

Tanya, apologetically, looked at the delivery guy: "I’m sorry, could you help me return them?"

The delivery guy looked troubled: "I don’t have the authority to cancel a customer’s order, and if you don’t sign for it, I might get complained about..."

Tanya Sinclair: "..."

She took a light breath, "How about this, I’ll sign for it, but could you please leave them at the door of unit 102 on the 7th floor? Thank you."

Julian Poole lives there.

"Alright."

After the delivery guy left, Tanya Sinclair sent a message back to Julian Poole: [Don’t waste money like that anymore, I won’t accept it.]

Julian Poole didn’t respond immediately to this message.

Tanya Sinclair didn’t bother with him either.

In the evening, when Belinda invited her for dinner, Tanya Sinclair took the opportunity to drag her along to pick out a birthday gift for her teacher’s wife.

She remembered visiting the teacher’s wife’s house in the past; the lady didn’t wear many accessories but had a particular fondness for pearls.

Belinda also loved pearls and was somewhat of an expert. With her keen eye, they finally bought a pearl necklace of exceptional quality.

At checkout, Belinda noticed Tanya Sinclair seemed preoccupied and teased her, "Are you feeling the pinch?"

Tanya Sinclair smiled wryly and explained, "I don’t even know if the teacher’s wife will see me and accept my gift. In previous years, I always brought gifts for holidays, but she never saw me..."

Belinda comforted her, "Everyone has a heart. I’m sure your teacher’s wife will meet you this time."

Tanya Sinclair: "I hope so. Whether she accepts it or not, I must deliver my regards."

With that, Tanya Sinclair took the packed gift box, nodded at the sales associate, and with Belinda on her arm, turned and left.

Just as they walked away, Cindy Lynn and Nina Leslie appeared around the corner.

Nina Leslie rolled her eyes at Tanya Sinclair’s back.

"What bad luck, why does she keep hanging around!" Nina protested on behalf of Cindy Lynn, "Her own mother was unfaithful, cheated on Uncle Lynn, and yet she has the nerve to play the victim at The Kendall Family! Fortunately, Cindy, you’re righteous and not afraid of shadows. A wild hen like Tanya will never become a true phoenix!"

Nina Leslie, holding Cindy Lynn’s arm, gleefully said, "Cindy, I’m just waiting to drink at your and President Hawthorne’s wedding! No, I should start calling you Mrs. Hawthorne."

Cindy Lynn was delighted by the title ’Mrs. Hawthorne,’ but pretended to be reserved, "The date isn’t set yet. We can only confirm after my parents meet Uncle Hawthorne and Aunt Hawthorne tomorrow night."

"Oh, that’s just a matter of time. Mrs. Hawthorne." Nina flattered Cindy Lynn on purpose.

Cindy Lynn appreciated this, and the two walked into the store Tanya had just come out of. While Nina was browsing nearby, Cindy Lynn asked the sales associate, "I saw two female customers leaving with a beautifully packaged gift box just now, which one was it?"

"Oh, that lady said it was a birthday gift for an elder, so we wrapped it nicely."

"An elder?" Cindy Lynn raised an eyebrow.

What elder does Tanya have? Could it be that sly woman has found a new benefactor?

She probed further, "What kind of elder, did that woman mention?"

The sales associate realized Cindy Lynn wasn’t truly interested in pearls but in the pearl purchaser.

"I’m sorry, we can’t discuss customer matters in detail."

Cindy Lynn pointed at the row of five-digit-priced pearl necklaces in the display case.

"I’ll take them all."

"You... you’ll take them all?" The sales associate’s eyes lit up.

Cindy Lynn smiled slightly, "Would you be able to spare a little more information for me now?"

...

Tanya Sinclair and Belinda shopped a while longer before heading home separately.

On the way, she called Daisy Bell to check on her.

"Don’t worry, I’m tough! What doesn’t kill me only makes me stronger!" Daisy Bell, after one time of indulgence, had truly come back to life.

"Did Boss Warner continue to trouble you?"

"No, and for that, I have to thank Julian Poole. He’s a genuine person; he got in contact with some acquaintances, and mediated with the guy named Warner. Not sure who he involved, but Director Langdon invited me back. Although I can’t play the previous lead female role, they offered me a supporting role instead."

Daisy Bell remained unfazed, "Anyway, that lead role was too similar to me, playing it wouldn’t prove my acting skills. I’ve never played a secondary role of such a pure character, it’s more challenging."

Daisy Bell’s slump lasted only a short while; she could always see the positive side of things.

Tanya Sinclair: "In the future, let me know first if anything happens."

"Alright, once I pay off my debts, I’ll cling to you tightly, my dear!" Daisy Bell joked, remembering something, "Oh, and Julian Poole messaged me this afternoon, asking what flowers you like. He seemed nice, so I told him... hope that’s alright?"

Tanya Sinclair: "..."

She felt a bad premonition.

Sure enough, when Tanya Sinclair got home, she saw a large bouquet of yellow roses at her door.

She felt a headache coming on.

"Daisy, no matter what Julian Poole asks about me in the future, just ignore him."

Daisy Bell sounded disappointed, "Tanya, he seemed nice. Just keep him as a friend for now. I know you’re not thinking about love right now, but you can’t stay single forever. Vincent Hawthorne was a complete jerk, but there are good men out there..."

Tanya Sinclair paused for a moment and then said, "Julian Poole has been secretly helping Cindy Lynn all along."

With one sentence, Daisy Bell’s hope of matchmaking was completely dashed!
