CHAPTER 281: CHAPTER 281: GIVEN A RUTHLESS BEATING

Tanya was taken to a room, the door was closed, and the nurse didn’t dare go in.

"Ms. Sinclair, Mr. Pierce is inside. I’ll leave first."

After speaking, she turned and quickly walked away.

It seems Declan Pierce isn’t a very cooperative patient...

Tanya knocked on the door first, just about to speak, when suddenly a loud ’bang—’ came from inside, like something was smashed against the door.

Then, she heard Declan’s angry voice.

"Get out."

Tanya: "..."

Alright, definitely not cooperative.

Tanya pressed down on the door handle; it wasn’t locked, so she just pushed the door open.

It was a metal ornament that had been thrown at the door, both the door and it were sturdy.

Tanya bent down, picked up the small ornament, and casually placed it aside.

On the bed, Declan hadn’t even opened his eyes. He was already unusually annoyed by the sound of the door opening and said in a hoarse voice, "Get out, or else..."

Tanya slowly walked over to him.

"’Or else’ what will you do?"

The woman’s gentle and familiar voice quietly echoed in the empty room.

Declan was startled for a moment, thinking he was dreaming. He slowly opened his eyes, and in the bloodshot depths, the face of the person in front of him was reflected.

It was the person from his dreams, now before him.

Declan was momentarily dazed, then came to his senses and almost immediately sat up, frowning as he asked, "Who brought you here?"

His voice was severely hoarse, and the wound on his chest, wrapped in gauze, seemed torn due to his large movements, with blood seeping out.

Tanya frowned, "Don’t move around."

She reached out to support him, but Declan grabbed her wrist tightly and coldly said, "Was it Zeke?"

In the middle of speaking, Declan first noticed the bruises on Tanya’s neck.

Her skin was fair, neck slender, making the finger marks and bruising sharply visible.

Declan’s aura instantly turned icy, a murderous intensity surged in his eyes.

—That damned cripple, how dare he?!

"I’m fine, you should lie down first." Tanya gently said.

Declan slightly relaxed his grip on her hand but didn’t let go completely and didn’t move.

His dark, sharp eyes stared outside the door.

The sound of a wheelchair rolling on the ground came from afar, getting closer.

Seth Yates pushed Zeke Pierce inside.

"I hope I’m not interrupting?" Zeke smiled; he ignored the murderous look Declan gave him and turned to Tanya, "Now that you’re here Ms. Sinclair, why not stay for a few days? There are plenty of rooms, and with you around, my unruly brother might be a bit more obedient."

Tanya frowned, just about to speak, and Declan tugged her hand lightly.

Perplexed, Tanya looked back, meeting Declan’s deep, dark gaze.

His eyes were so profound, hiding everything, leaving only a trace of tenderness for her.

"There should be ingredients in the kitchen downstairs." Declan said hoarsely, "I’m hungry, I’d like some pork rib soup."

"..."

Tanya knew well he meant to send her away deliberately.

"Declan..."

"I’m immobile right now, so could Secretary Yates assist?" Declan lazily looked at Seth.

Seth naturally wouldn’t be ordered around and looked to Zeke’s expression.

Zeke smiled insincerely, "If that’s the case, Secretary Yates, go assist Ms. Sinclair."

"Yes." Seth was clearly obedient to Zeke’s words.

Tanya was worried about Declan.

Declan enjoyed her concerned look, his bloodless lips curling up slightly, pulling Tanya in front of him with some force.

So close, he could hear her unsteady breathing, Declan chuckled lightly.

His thin lips moved to Tanya’s ear.

"Don’t worry, one on one, I can crush that cripple with one hand."

Tanya: "..."

Truth be told, she believed in Declan’s combat prowess.

Tanya glanced sideways at Zeke, covering her lips, worriedly asked, "What if he has a gun?"

Declan looked at her serious, worried expression, amusement deepening in his eyes.

"He wouldn’t dare."

He’s not afraid of death, but Zeke clings to life dearly.

"Go on." Declan released her hand, softly said, "Let Yates do the prep work."

Only then did Tanya leave the room, looking back repeatedly.

In the bedroom, only Declan and Zeke were left as brothers, Declan’s gentle, harmless smile completely vanished, expressionless as he dismantled the monitoring tube connected to his arm.

Zeke smiled, "See how considerate I am as your brother? The one you’re longing for, I’ve brought before you. If you wish, I can ensure she never leaves Phoenix Court."

Declan lowered his gaze, slowly buttoning his shirt.

He raised his eyes to Zeke, "Come closer, my hearing’s damaged from the explosion on the mountain, can’t hear well."

Zeke moved his wheelchair closer to the bed, but without waiting to speak, Declan kicked him fiercely.

His right foot was temporarily unusable, using the less powerful left foot, yet even so, Zeke and his wheelchair were flipped to the ground.

With a thud.

But Declan wasn’t worried that Tanya would hear downstairs, Phoenix Court, soundproofing of doors and walls, was top-notch.

Declan got off the bed expressionlessly, walked to Zeke, grabbed him by the collar, and swung his fist down hard.

"Didn’t I say, don’t touch her."

Declan’s handsome face was cold, his words dripping with intense killing intent, chilling to the bone.

"If you dare lay a finger on her again, Zeke Pierce!" Declan yanked the man’s collar, pulling him close, his gaze wild and ferocious.

The wound on his arm opened, blood oozing, dark red, trickling into Zeke’s pristine white collar.

Declan smiled sinisterly, hoarsely said in madness, "Then neither of us will live!"

He released his grip coldly, wiping the blood in his palm on Zeke’s expensive suit.

Zeke chuckled lowly.

"Declan, you truly are a madman..."

Two Shadow Guards silently entered from outside, lifting Zeke up.

Within ten meters of Zeke, Shadow Guards were always present.

Only a madman like Declan would dare to assault him so rashly.

Zeke took out a handkerchief, elegantly wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth, "Does Tanya know how mad you are?" He suddenly thought of something, squinting and laughing softly, "Oh, does she know about the deal between you and her grandfather?"

Declan’s face turned cold.

Zeke’s laughter grew more intriguing, "Does she know...what means you used, what price you paid, to bring her back from a vegetative state?"

Declan moved his lips slightly, coldly said, "She doesn’t need to know."

Zeke clapped his hands.

"I never thought, there’d be a romantic soul in our Pierce Family." Zeke signaled to a Shadow Guard, who took out a bottle of medication and tossed it to Declan.

Declan reached out and caught it.

"Dr. Finch will regularly draw blood, so you need to up the dosage on this medication." Zeke said sympathetically, "I’ll pray to God that you live to see the day Tanya falls in love with you."

In the kitchen downstairs, Tanya had just blanched the pork ribs and put them into the pot to stew.

Hearing a sound, she turned around and saw Zeke coming out in his wheelchair.

But this time, Zeke wore sunglasses, though they couldn’t hide the bruise at the corner of his mouth, and his clothes were stained with blood.

This was clearly evidence of a severe beating!
