CHAPTER 286: CHAPTER 286: WANT TO SAY SOMETHING?

Abby obediently responded, "Okay. Aunt Sinclair, let me have Uncle Kendall talk to you."

The phone was handed to Felix Kendall.

Felix Kendall’s voice was very distinct, "Ms. Sinclair, are you feeling better today?" He chatted with her leisurely.

Tanya Sinclair: "Thanks for your concern, I’m alright. Mr. Kendall, why did you take Abby away?"

On the other side, Felix Kendall was in the living room of one of his spacious apartments. He sat on the sofa, while little Abby knelt on the carpet, playing with a puzzle.

In the kitchen, an auntie was preparing breakfast. Life was peaceful.

Except...

Felix Kendall glanced down at the bruises on Abby’s arms, clearly pinched.

No wonder that family had her wear long sleeves to school to hide it and forbade her from telling anyone.

A hint of pain flashed in Felix Kendall’s eyes.

He had a female doctor come to check her last night. When the doctor asked how it happened and if it hurt, Abby didn’t dare answer directly, instead instinctively looking at his expression.

Seeing him frown, Abby thought he was mad at her, so she shrank her neck and shook her head, saying it didn’t hurt...

This was clearly a reaction from living long-term in a severely oppressive environment.

"Mr. Kendall?" Tanya Sinclair waited on the other end of the line for a while, not hearing Felix Kendall’s response, and frowned, calling him again.

Felix Kendall: "It’s hard to explain over the phone. When are you being discharged, Ms. Sinclair? Abby has been really worried about you. I’ll bring Abby to pick you up. Besides, Grandpa has been asking about you too; we’ll meet so I can report back to him."

He gave Tanya Sinclair two reasons she couldn’t refuse in one breath.

Tanya Sinclair hesitated for a few seconds, then conceded, "Alright, I can be discharged this afternoon."

Felix Kendall glanced at his watch, "Then I’ll book a restaurant and pick you up at the hospital at six in the evening, okay?"

"Okay."

The time was then settled.

Felix Kendall silently smirked and handed the phone back to Abby.

"Abby, tell Aunt Sinclair we’ll see her tonight."

"See you tonight, Aunt Sinclair."

"See you tonight, Abby."

Caden, who had been listening for quite a while, couldn’t help but speak, "Abby, aren’t you going to school today?"

Ever since Caden tutored Abby, she had started seeing him as a little teacher and was a bit afraid of him.

Abby mumbled, "I took a leave today."

Caden declared strictly, "Your grades are so poor. Joy said you rank eighth in your class! Yet you’re taking a day off? Finals are approaching, what if you drop to ninth place?"

...But isn’t eighth place not too bad?

Abby couldn’t refute and after a pause, she reluctantly said, "Sorry..."

Caden sighed, reluctantly saying, "Bring your books tonight, and after dinner, I’ll tutor you."

Abby sighed too, "Alright..."

Caden was satisfied, "Okay, goodbye."

"Goodbye."

Tanya Sinclair and Aunt Tawny exchanged a glance, trying hard not to laugh.

"Caden, why are you tutoring Abby?" Tanya Sinclair pretended to be curious.

Caden was a bit puzzled, "She only ranks eighth. Shouldn’t she be tutored? I can’t have an eighth place friend."

Aunt Tawny caught the key point, "Caden, Abby is already your friend?"

"Sort of." Caden scratched his head, feeling it was hard to explain to adults. "Mom, Abby and I have two different curricula, I need to prepare."

"Okay, off you go."

Tanya Sinclair had almost restored all the data on her phone when she logged into WeChat and received many messages asking about her condition.

Tanya Sinclair and her fellow disciples, Cameron Wenworth, Celine Nash, and Harrison Langdon, had a private group chat.

Tanya Sinclair reported in the group that she was safe.

Cameron Wenworth immediately called, "How’s your health? Are you hurt anywhere?"

"No, just a minor injury. I’ll be discharged this afternoon."

Hearing she was okay, Cameron Wenworth was somewhat relieved.

"That’s good. Take good care of yourself. Don’t worry about The Veridia Project. The most crucial issues you’ve effectively solved already, everything is progressing smoothly, and Celine is holding down the fort there just fine."

Tanya Sinclair: "Okay, I have a very important personal matter to handle these two days. Thanks for taking the trouble, senior sister."

"Personal matter?" Cameron Wenworth became perceptive, asking seriously, "Don’t tell me it’s related to Vincent Hawthorne?"

Cameron Wenworth was usually gentle and mature with a good temper, but his mood soured whenever Vincent Hawthorne was mentioned.

He earnestly informed his junior sister, "Tanya Sinclair, if you dare to soften and get back together with Vincent Hawthorne, I’m attending a confidential project next week and can bring a graduate student with me. I’ll bring you along!"

Tanya Sinclair was amused but felt helpless.

It was rare for her senior brother to call her full name, and the impact was no less than being called out by a teacher for sleeping in class.

"Senior brother, it’s not about Vincent Hawthorne. We’ve divorced, and even if I remain unmarried for life, I won’t forgive him."

Cameron Wenworth was somewhat satisfied with this answer. As long as it wasn’t about Vincent Hawthorne, he wouldn’t interfere in his junior sister’s personal affairs.

"That’s good. If there’s anything I can help with, let me know."

Tanya Sinclair felt warmth in her heart, "Okay, thank you, senior brother. I won’t hesitate to ask."

"By the way," Cameron Wenworth said, "Professor Truman and Professor Carter were invited overseas for a lecture, and they won’t be in the country for these few days. Since you’re fine, I’ll skip mentioning your incident to avoid scaring the teachers."

"Okay." Tanya Sinclair agreed.

After hanging up, Tanya Sinclair also reached out to Belinda to assure her she was fine. Daisy Bell, filming in a remote area with terrible signal these days, likely hadn’t heard about what happened to her, or else she’d already have rushed back.

After assuring a circle of people, Tanya Sinclair looked at Declan Pierce’s icon in her contacts, her finger paused, but she clicked in.

She wanted to ask how he was doing today? Also wanted to know if he slept well last night?

Tanya Sinclair typed a line but felt awkward, so she deleted it.

Just then, a message suddenly appeared in the chat from Declan Pierce: [?]

Tanya Sinclair was startled. Did he sense something?

The next message followed.

Declan Pierce: [What do you want to say?]
