Wrong Love, Final Goodbye: She'll Never Look Back
Chapter 300: He’s Not the Only One Who Used Declan Pierce as a Blood Source
CHAPTER 300: CHAPTER 300: HE’S NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO USED DECLAN PIERCE AS A BLOOD SOURCE
Tanya followed Janne Hayes into the arranged private room, and after a while, Seth Yates pushed Zeke Pierce in, sitting in a wheelchair.
He glanced at Tanya, his gaze drifting toward Janne Hayes behind her, and couldn’t help but laugh.
"Declan Pierce really has a lot of faith in you, having his right-hand man Janne Hayes at your disposal." Zeke Pierce applauded, "Ms. Sinclair, impressive skills."
Tanya replied calmly, "Mr. Pierce, can we talk alone?"
"Sure." Zeke Pierce agreed readily.
Tanya was not surprised.
Zeke Pierce was someone highly narcissistic and with a strong sense of control, a person like that wouldn’t naturally regard a woman seriously.
Janne Hayes leaned down, slightly closer to Tanya: "Ms. Sinclair, I’ll be right outside."
This was not said for Tanya, but for Zeke Pierce.
Zeke Pierce snorted lightly, gave Seth Yates a look: "Leave us."
"Yes."
Only Zeke Pierce and Tanya were left in the room.
"Speak, what do you want to talk about with such urgency?" Zeke Pierce looked at Tanya condescendingly, as if looking at something amusing and novel.
Tanya: "Mr. Pierce, mind if I take your pulse?"
Zeke Pierce slightly narrowed his eyes, unable to ascertain what Tanya was up to for a moment.
Tanya: "I know Declan is under The Pierce Family because of me. To you, Declan’s greatest value is providing blood for your survival. But clearly, Declan’s blood can’t cure your illness, it merely keeps you barely alive."
Tanya observed Zeke Pierce’s slightly frozen expression and knew she guessed right. She tossed out a lure, "My grandfather is Horace Sinclair, arguably one of the best doctors. Unfortunately, he cannot practice due to illness now. But as his direct descendant, I am his sole heir in medical skills. Zeke Pierce, maybe I can save you."
When mentioning her grandfather Horace Sinclair’s name, Tanya keenly observed Zeke Pierce’s expression, noting he showed no surprise. Clearly, Zeke Pierce was aware of her grandfather’s existence.
Tanya’s heart slightly stirred.
Maybe the experiments Grandfather conducted at the sanatorium really had something to do with The Pierce Family...
After pondering for a moment, Zeke Pierce decided to give it a try.
He was used to being served, carrying the demeanor of someone accustomed to power. He rolled up his sleeves, casually placing a hand on the armrest of the wheelchair, lowering his eyes to glance at Tanya.
Only to see the woman walk over, kneel slightly, and earnestly take his pulse.
Her fingers were beautifully slender, slender but not bony, pressing on the skin of his wrist. Long years of illness and lack of blood had made the skin on his wrist almost translucent, making the pink on the woman’s fingernails stand out vividly.
Zeke Pierce’s gaze shifted from her hand to Tanya’s face.
She was a beauty, though not the type he preferred, but the more he looked, the more pleasing she appeared. Zeke Pierce tugged at his bloodless lips.
What a pity, if she weren’t Declan’s person, he’d indeed be a bit interested.
Tanya focused on diagnosing the pulse without distraction and then returned to her seat.
Zeke Pierce leisurely tidied his cuffs.
"So Ms. Sinclair, what did the pulse diagnosis reveal?"
Tanya: "Your pulse is floating and weak, depleted of energy and blood. It’s a long-standing weakness. You need fundamental adjustment to let your body repair itself. I have a prescription here, you can try it out."
"..." Zeke Pierce raised his eyes to look at her, seemingly considering, "How do I trust that you’re giving me medicine, not poison?"
"You have experts all around you. Whether there’s an issue with my medicine, they would know after testing it. Trusting me is just a chance for survival. If it fails, you won’t lose anything. Besides, I’m not risking my life for yours." Tanya bluntly stated, "My goal is not to save you, it’s to save Declan. I owe him too much and I can’t just watch him being used as a blood bag, drained by you."
This reason was acceptable to Zeke Pierce.
"Fine, if you really can cure me. I won’t have to rely on a bastard’s blood."
Neither he nor others in The Pierce Family had ever regarded Declan as human...
Tanya: "Then that’s settled. I cure you, and you let Declan go. I will prepare the medicine and notify you to send someone to collect it. I’ll give you a follow-up once a week."
"However, I will need Ms. Sinclair to prepare two doses of the medicine for me, although I trust you, I still need to have the medicine verified."
"That’s not a problem." Tanya knew Zeke Pierce was suspicious, which she expected.
Zeke Pierce extended his hand: "Looking forward to our cooperation."
Tanya did not respond, but Zeke Pierce wasn’t embarrassed, casually pressing a button on the wheelchair, and Seth Yates immediately opened the door and entered, followed closely by Janne Hayes, who quietly approached Tanya.
Seth Yates pushed Zeke Pierce’s wheelchair out, stopping at the door.
"Ms. Sinclair." Zeke Pierce turned to look at her, with a meaningful expression, "There’s something to remind you of. The first person who used Declan as a blood bag to stay alive wasn’t me. But thanks to that person, I found out that Declan’s blood is indeed life-saving medicine."
Tanya was stunned, frowning as she asked, "What do you mean by that?"
But Zeke Pierce did not elaborate further, chuckled, and had Seth Yates push him away.
Janne Hayes comforted her: "Ms. Sinclair, don’t mind him. His body is handicapped, so his brain isn’t like a normal person’s either. He might just be saying that on purpose to irritate you."
Tanya forced a smile at Janne Hayes.
"Special Assistant Hayes, thank you for your help today. I’ll take my leave now."
Janne Hayes escorted Tanya to the door and only after she left, he called to report to Declan.
"President Pierce, Ms. Sinclair has already left. I’ve kept a watch on Zeke Pierce’s side; he didn’t pull any tricks."
"Alright."
"President Pierce, are you okay?" Janne Hayes couldn’t help but ask.
Although he had always known Zeke Pierce wasn’t a good person, much of what came out of his mouth was likely true.
That sickly scoundrel, having no taboo, feared nothing.
Janne Hayes hesitated, slowly saying: "Before Zeke Pierce left, he mentioned that before him, you used your own blood to save someone else’s life..."
Declan ignored Janne Hayes’ words and hung up directly.
On the other side, Tanya drove on the road.
Zeke Pierce’s words before leaving lingered, hard to disperse in her mind.
’The first person who used Declan as a blood bag to stay alive wasn’t me...’
According to Declan’s character, unless he was willing to make a deal, no one could force him.
He acted as a blood bag for Zeke Pierce, in exchange for The Pierce Family’s power and wealth... so what did the other person offer Declan in return?
Unintentionally, Tanya caught sight of her face in the rearview mirror.
Not far ahead was the hospital she was all too familiar with, where she had spent five years lying in a bed!
Tanya turned the steering wheel, heading there!
At the hospital entrance, Dr. Thorne had just finished his shift, said goodbye to the security at the door, and was walking toward his car.
"Dr. Thorne!"
Upon hearing the voice, Dr. Thorne turned and looked at Tanya coming quickly, utterly surprised.
"Mrs. Hawthorne!"
Dr. Thorne was her attending doctor.
Tanya now couldn’t bother correcting Dr. Thorne’s address, emphasizing that she and Vincent had divorced. She said solemnly, "Could I take a few minutes of your time? I need to ask you something."
Dr. Thorne’s eyes visibly dodged: "Mrs. Hawthorne, I have things to do, how about another day..."
He spoke as he attempted to unlock the car, but Tanya placed her hand on the car door.
"Dr. Thorne, I know someone asked you to keep secrets. Rest assured, only you and I will know I came to see you today."
"Oh Mrs. Hawthorne, don’t make it difficult for me..."
"Dr. Thorne, as a patient, I have the right to know what treatment I received during my hospitalization! If you say nothing today, I can only file a complaint." Tanya didn’t genuinely want to make things hard for Dr. Thorne, her tone softened, her eyes pleading, "Dr. Thorne, you just need to tell me if the person who revived me was Declan!"
"..."
Under Tanya’s earnest and pleading gaze, Dr. Thorne slowly nodded.
