CHAPTER 59: CHAPTER 59: PUTTING HER IN HER PLACE

On Monday, Tanya Sinclair and Vincent Hawthorne took the car together to the office.

The driver was on leave today, so special assistant Jonah Rivers acted as the driver and came to pick them up.

Seeing Tanya Sinclair in her professional attire, a trace of amazement flashed in Jonah Rivers’ eyes. Realizing his stare was too direct, he immediately lowered his head and opened the back car door for Tanya Sinclair and Vincent Hawthorne.

On the way to the company, Jonah Rivers couldn’t help but remark, "It’s nice to see you and President Hawthorne going to work together again, ma’am."

Tanya Sinclair smiled faintly and said, "Special Assistant Rivers, during workdays, please call me Manager Sinclair."

The title "ma’am" now sounded particularly jarring to Tanya Sinclair.

Only work and competence were her greatest sources of confidence and reliance!

Half-bowed, Vincent Hawthorne, who was checking emails, heard Tanya Sinclair’s words and turned to look at her.

The makeup on Tanya Sinclair’s face was light, and her hair was simply tied up. It wasn’t much different from five years ago, yet Vincent Hawthorne inexplicably felt that Tanya Sinclair at this moment seemed more charming in temperament than the Tanya Sinclair he remembered.

"Tanya, you look very beautiful today."

It was said with genuine sincerity.

Vincent Hawthorne reached out and tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear.

Tanya Sinclair could feel the warmth of his fingertips lingering ambiguously on her face.

The space inside the car was too cramped to avoid, and dodging too much would inevitably seem deliberate.

Tanya Sinclair lowered her eyes and shyly pulled down Vincent Hawthorne’s hand.

"Stop it," she said in a playful tone.

She found herself thoroughly disgusted,

Yet Vincent Hawthorne seemed to appreciate it; he chuckled softly and took the opportunity to hold her hand, not letting go all the way.

Tanya Sinclair: "..."

What bad luck.

Jonah Rivers, driving, saw this scene in the rearview mirror and revealed a gratified smile, his face spelling relief.

The lady and the gentleman, seven years married, indeed still deeply in love, finally reconciled!

Finally getting out of the car, Tanya Sinclair walked briskly, fearing Vincent Hawthorne might take another chance to touch her.

"Vincent, I’m going directly to the R&D department to prepare the project proposal."

Her eager manner actually put Vincent Hawthorne in a great mood.

Tanya Sinclair’s race-against-time investment in work was all for him.

With one hand in his pocket, Vincent Hawthorne walked unhurriedly behind Tanya Sinclair. Upon entering the company’s main doors, he heard Cindy Lynn’s helpless voice.

"President Hawthorne..."

Tanya Sinclair was a few steps ahead of Vincent Hawthorne, and upon entering, she immediately saw Cindy Lynn standing pitifully in the corner.

But she couldn’t be bothered, treated Cindy Lynn as air, and walked past her straight to the access point for facial recognition to enter.

The R&D department had a separate elevator, opposite the lobby. As Tanya Sinclair stepped into the elevator, she was compelled to turn back to look at the lobby.

She saw Vincent Hawthorne had already reached Cindy Lynn, and Cindy Lynn said something that made him frown with concern. He then turned his head and glanced in her direction, as if he had something to say.

Tanya Sinclair responded with an innocent smile, her index finger pressing the close door button firmly.

Only when the elevator doors closed did the corners of her mouth drop.

She had no time for Cindy Lynn’s antics.

The mysterious second son of the Pierce Family, who could, upon returning to the country, immediately acquire Westgard Pharmaceuticals, must be ruthless and keen. To deliver a satisfactory collaboration plan within a week, she had to give it her all.

As soon as the elevator doors opened, Tanya Sinclair saw Serena Holloway greeting her, along with... an empty R&D department.

"Boss."

"What’s going on?" Tanya Sinclair frowned.

Although she hadn’t planned to use the people Cindy Lynn recruited for her project, for her to be there as department head and the whole R&D department to be absent during working hours was absurd!

Tanya Sinclair glanced at the time; it was three minutes before work started.

"It’s that sycophant Nina Leslie under Cindy Lynn!" Serena Holloway angrily took out her phone to show Tanya Sinclair the chat from the R&D department group.

Last night, Nina Leslie @everyone in the group.

Nina Leslie: [Everyone, please make an effort to come to the company tomorrow morning. Let’s gather directly in the multifunctional meeting hall for a morning meeting. I’ve ordered breakfast for everyone.]

Serena Holloway: "Boss, I muted this group after work. I only saw the message this morning. Nina Leslie is obviously rallying her group against you, trying to give you a hard time!"

Serena Holloway got more furious, "I’ll go get them back right now! I’ll say President Hawthorne knows and is very angry! They’ll surely fear President Hawthorne!"

"No need for such trouble," Tanya Sinclair refused the suggestion.

Bringing in Vincent Hawthorne to suppress them would not only provoke their rebellious instincts but also, Vincent had always played nice, maintaining a stance of self-preservation.

If Cindy Lynn were the one wronged, Vincent might stand up for her, but Tanya Sinclair was sure he would never wade into these troubled waters for her, the ’Mrs. Hawthorne.’

Tanya Sinclair entered the control room of the R&D department.

The R&D department used a separate system.

While operating the computer, Tanya Sinclair instructed Serena Holloway, "Send a message in the group saying it’s from me, notifying them to be back at their stations within fifteen minutes. Otherwise, they’ll bear the consequences."

"Okay, boss."

Having done that, Tanya Sinclair grabbed the file folder she brought and headed straight into the drug development lab.

The instruments and chemical materials needed for research were all there, except for one core piece of equipment that required three hundred million. She needed Vincent Hawthorne to spend some money.

As if conjured by thought, a call from Vincent Hawthorne came in at that moment.

Tanya Sinclair put her phone on silent and then immersed herself in her experimental work. Serena Holloway assisted her, occasionally glancing worriedly at her own phone.

Since sending that notification in the group, not one person had responded.

Serena Holloway was a bit worried, "Boss, what if none of them come back?"

Focused on her work, Tanya Sinclair indifferently replied, "It’s simple, just let them never come back."

Serena Holloway: "?"
