Wrong Love, Final Goodbye: She'll Never Look Back
Chapter 7: As a Wife, She Is Flawless
CHAPTER 7: CHAPTER 7: AS A WIFE, SHE IS FLAWLESS
After Vincent Hawthorne dropped off his two children at school, he drove straight to the company.
As soon as he stepped through the company doors, his assistant Jonah Rivers approached him.
His expression was somewhat grave: "President Hawthorne, breaking news, the major shareholder of Westgard Pharmaceuticals has changed!"
Vincent’s face slightly changed upon hearing this. He took the tablet Jonah handed over and saw the headline of the financial morning news: A major change in the ownership of leading pharmaceutical company—Westgard Pharmaceuticals! Reportedly, former Chairman Kane Abbott sold 25% of his shares last night, but the buyer’s identity remains undisclosed!
Jonah followed closely behind Vincent, continuing to report.
"President Hawthorne, according to my findings, this mysterious buyer, apart from acquiring Kane Abbott’s 25% share, has also been purchasing stakes from some small shareholders over the past six months. Altogether, he should possess more than 50% of the shares now!"
Owning more than 50% of the shares means that this mysterious person has already become the ultimate boss of Westgard Pharmaceuticals!
Jonah adjusted his glasses: "President Hawthorne, Westgard Pharmaceuticals is currently one of our biggest partners. It was Mrs. Hawthorne who negotiated our strategic partnership with Westgard Pharmaceuticals five years ago, and it expired last month. However, they’ve been stalling the renewal. With this new boss in place, we haven’t even been able to uncover any information about their identity..."
Vincent stepped into the elevator, his sullen face reflected off the glass walls.
"What about Kane Abbott? He won’t give us any information?"
Jonah braced himself and said, "Kane Abbott took his entire family on a flight abroad this morning to lay low. His private contact information is probably only known by Mrs. Hawthorne. But Mrs. Hawthorne’s current situation..."
Vincent’s expression grew more unsightly.
He hadn’t disclosed Tanya Sinclair’s awakening to the public, nor did he plan to.
The reason Westgard Pharmaceuticals initially chose to partner with Zenith Group among many companies was because of Tanya Sinclair.
She once saved Kane Abbott’s wife’s life, and Kane Abbott was willing to give Zenith Group a chance. Despite being pregnant, Tanya Sinclair managed the pressure and delivered an exceptional new drug development proposal, earning Kane Abbott’s admiration and respect, which led to a five-year contract being signed with Zenith Group.
Vincent’s eyes were cold, emitting a chilling intensity: "Without Tanya Sinclair, would Zenith Group not survive? No matter what it takes, find out about the new owner of Westgard Pharmaceuticals in three days!"
"Yes." Jonah had no choice but to comply.
Suppressing his anger, Vincent walked into his office and upon opening the door, saw Cindy Lynn bent over, tidying up his desk.
She was dressed in business attire, a white pencil skirt, accentuating her shapely curves due to her bent posture.
Vincent’s Adam’s apple moved slightly, and he disciplined his gaze away.
Upon hearing footsteps, Cindy turned around and greeted Vincent with a gentle, sweet smile: "Good morning, President Hawthorne."
Vincent didn’t get a chance to speak as his phone rang—it was a call from the villa’s landline.
It didn’t take a guess to know it was Tanya Sinclair.
Whenever he thought of her, Vincent immediately thought of Westgard Pharmaceuticals, causing a surge of annoyance.
He took a deep breath, composed himself, and then answered the call.
Speaking in his usual gentle tone, he asked, "What’s up, Tanya?"
Tanya Sinclair spoke: "Vincent, I forgot to mention something to you. I want to get someone to spruce up the garden, any objections?"
Vincent frowned impatiently.
Her so-called garden sprucing was probably just pulling some weeds.
After all, that entire garden of tulips was personally planted by Tanya for him, she couldn’t possibly bear to make any changes.
Vincent found it laughable—just because he casually mentioned liking tulips, Tanya single-handedly planted an entire garden, carefully tending to it, her hands covered in wounds.
And all he had to do was smile at her, and she would feel it was all worth it.
All her joy and sorrow revolved around him. At first, Vincent was indeed touched.
As a wife, Tanya Sinclair was impeccable.
She helped him establish a foothold in the company, and also cared for him wholeheartedly in family life.
But someone as easy to read as Tanya Sinclair was too boring for him.
"You handle the matters at home," Vincent replied nonchalantly, "I’m here to work."
Cindy Lynn walked over, aligning with his pace: "President Hawthorne, it’s time to prepare for the meeting."
Tanya on the other end heard Cindy Lynn’s pretentious voice, prompting a cold laugh internally.
At this hour, Vincent should have just reached the office, and already the two couldn’t wait...
She ’considerately’ said, "Alright, then go to your meeting. I won’t disturb you."
Vincent murmured an acknowledgment and was about to hang up, but was instead met with the sound of a busy tone.
For once, he was taken aback, staring at the disconnected call initiated by Tanya, frowning slightly.
Tanya Sinclair actually hung up on him first?
Previously, Tanya always waited for him to hang up first...
"What’s wrong, President Hawthorne?" Cindy’s voice brought Vincent back to reality.
She raised her delicate face, looking at him with concern, the soft curve of her chest seemingly brushing against his arm.
Yet, Vincent neither moved forward nor retreated.
Cindy arched her lips slightly, taking a step closer, tenderly reaching out to smooth Vincent’s furrowed brows.
"Did Ms. Tanya upset you?"
Truthfully, Tanya indeed upset him.
But the reason seemed too unsubstantial to say—it was simply because she hung up first...
For some reason, Vincent had a vague sense that the awakened Tanya seemed somewhat different from before.
Irritated without reason, he was about to push Cindy’s hand away when someone pushed the door open behind him.
"Oh, I’m here at a bad time." came a man’s casual and teasing voice, "Interrupting little sis-in-law and Vincent’s moment."
Cindy blushed, pulled back her hand, and greeted, "Senior Brother Crawford."
It was Cody Crawford who entered, the Crawford and Hawthorne families being long-time friends, Cody was not just a childhood friend but also a university roommate of Vincent’s.
After Cindy left, Vincent slightly reproachfully glanced at Cody: "What are you calling her?"
Cody lazily slumped into a seat opposite Vincent.
"There’s no one else here, besides, we’ve always called her that since college..."
Vincent picked up a file and tossed it over.
Cody deftly dodged, putting away his carefree demeanor, he earnestly said, "Vincent, about serious business. You’ve heard about the new owner of Westgard Pharmaceuticals, right?"
Vincent felt a headache coming on: "I have someone looking into the new owner’s identity."
Cody leaned forward, drawing close to Vincent and whispering mysteriously: "I heard from my old man, there’s an eighty to ninety percent chance that the new owner of Westgard Pharmaceuticals is The Pierce Family!"
Upon hearing The Pierce Family, Vincent’s expression slightly changed.
