CHAPTER 333: CHAPTER 330 [YOU’RE IN DANGER]

Chapter Three Hundred and Thirty [You’re Very Dangerous]

"I’ll just embrace you for a while..."

"I’ll just touch..."

"I’ll just rub against you..."

Alright, none of these scenarios happened this morning.

Chen Yanluo was true to his word for once. He said he’d embrace her for just a while, and he really only did so for that long.

By the time one side of the English tape had finished playing, Old Sun knocked on the door again, calling Sun Keke out for breakfast.

"Okay, I’ll come in a bit," Sun Keke hurriedly responded.

Chen Nuo released Sun Keke, took a deep sniff near the ends of her hair, and smiled. "Okay, you go out and eat. I’m heading back."

Sun Keke was flushed with embarrassment and whispered softly, "You... um... I’ll go to school today and then come find you, alright? Are you feeling down? I can keep you company during the daytime and we can talk, how does that sound?"

Chen Nuo smiled, let go of Sun Keke, then walked to the window and opened it.

He turned back to glance at the somewhat flustered girl and suddenly smiled. "You’ve gained a little weight."

"No way!" Girls are very sensitive about their weight, and she immediately whispered defensively, "Where have I gained weight? How have I gotten fatter?"

"Well, when I was holding you close, I could clearly feel it."

Sun Keke’s legs went weak, her face turned crimson, and she felt like snapping back, but her gentle nature left her at a loss for words. She could only watch wide-eyed as Chen Nuo jumped out of the window.

After zoning out for a moment, she hurried to the window, only to see Chen Nuo already standing on the ground, waving at her. With his hands in his pockets, he swayed as he walked away.

In the morning, after breakfast, Sun Keke left for school right away.

But to Sun Keke’s dismay, that Chen Xiaoguo didn’t show up at school.

Chen Nuo, once again, had skipped classes.

DING!

Just as Sun Keke was wondering whether to call and ask, she received a text message from Chen Nuo.

"I have something this morning and won’t be coming to school. I’ll pick you up after your evening remedial class and take you home."

Sun Keke felt a stir in her heart.

It was as if... things were like before.

As if it was the same daily schedule as before their fallout, wasn’t it?

There was resistance in her heart—did he really just want to act like nothing had happened?

But, in the end, she couldn’t bring herself to be harsh.

After taking a deep breath, she replied with one word:

"Okay."

「Buenos Aires.」

In the north of the city. This area lies far from the slums and is known as a middle-class enclave.

The SUV rolled to a stop beside a house and parked in front of the garage. Sofia quickly jumped out of the vehicle and then opened the rear seat door, letting her daughter out.

The ten-year-old beauty of Latin descent was tall and slightly mature for her age but still visibly childlike, with dark golden hair and a facial structure that was unusually delicate for her heritage.

She helped her mother carry two huge paper bags out of the back seat, which were filled with household items they had shopped for. One of the bags contained long baguettes that seemed a bit unwieldy for the little girl to handle—not too heavy, but too long, constantly poking at her hair.

Sofia walked shoulder to shoulder with her daughter to the front of the house and then suddenly stood still, rooted to the spot.

There on the steps under the eave sat a lean, small figure. The small boy’s black curly hair had grown a bit long, and although his jacket was still oversized and ill-fitting, it looked clean. There was also a small paper bag by his side, obviously filled with... cookies.

"Hello~~"

The boy greeted them in Spanish, then stood up, smiling warmly at Sofia and her daughter.

After taking a deep breath, Sofia’s expression was complicated, tinged with a hint of barely concealed awe.

"Why... have you come?"

"To see you," the boy smiled. "I thought about it and realized I don’t really have anywhere to go lately, nor do I have anything to do."

Sofia looked grave, but her daughter, already curious, asked, "Who is he?"

"A friend’s... child," Sofia sighed. "His name is Seed."

The girl smiled amiably, then nodded to the boy. "Hello Seed, my name is Fox."

"I know. I’ve heard Sofia mention you. She has talked about having a lovely daughter, very beautiful and very cute... like a clever little fox."

After greeting them, Seed smiled at Sofia. "May I come in? I’ve been waiting here for a full two hours."

Sofia sighed. "Of course..."

Sofia’s home wasn’t very big but could still be considered middle-class: a wooden two-story house. It had four bedrooms, a kitchen and dining room, a living room, two bathrooms, a basement, and a garage.

After entering the house, they placed their things in the kitchen. While her daughter went to her room to change clothes, Sofia eyed Seed gravely in the kitchen.

"Is there something you need by coming to my place?"

"Nothing at all," Seed shook his head, casually surveying the room’s furnishings. Then he said slowly to Sofia, "I wasn’t lying. I just suddenly remembered I’ve got nothing to do, nowhere to go—recently. So, I thought I’d come to see you. After all, you’re the only... well, the only friend I have. By human standards," he added.

"Of course, friend," Sofia nodded solemnly. "I thought you needed help..."

"No, no, Sofia," Seed said seriously. "Perhaps one day I’ll need help, but there are very few in this world who are qualified to help me, to whom I could turn. As of now, you’re not one of them."

"So..."

"Just a visit, visiting a friend," Seed smiled.

Sofia relaxed a bit. Although she was an adventurous traveler, she still had a minor daughter at home. By Western values, anything that could endanger the safety of the family was absolutely not allowed, especially when dealing with a mysterious and odd non-human entity like Seed.

"You can stay here. There’s a spare room. Do you need it?"

"Thank you, that would be great," Seed nodded. "I’ll only stay for two or three days. I won’t bother you for long."

"That’s alright, as long as you don’t bring any danger or trouble to my daughter."

Seed sighed. "Trust me, Sofia, being by my side might just be the safest place in this world."

Dinner was beef, with a bit of boiled beans. Sofia’s cooking skills were mediocre, neither particularly good nor bad. Seed wasn’t very interested in the food itself but was quite pleased with the dessert that followed the meal.

After dinner, Sofia cleaned up the dishes in the kitchen. Seed and Sofia’s daughter were in the living room watching TV. The girl evidently saw Seed as a peer and was curious about his origins.

"How do you know my mom?"

"I met her during a trip; she did me a favor."

"All right, but you are too young..."

"What do you mean?"

"If you were a decade or so older, I’d think you were one of my mother’s dates. She hasn’t dated any men for a year now," the girl said with an easy laugh.

"Your father?"

"Don’t know. He might be alive, he might be dead, only God knows." The girl’s tone remained light as she casually picked up some fruit from the table and offered a piece to Seed. "How old are you?"

"Hmm, ten years old, maybe eleven."

"Okay, I’m twelve."

Pointless and vapid conversation continued, while a TV show played on the television at the same time—the kind of Latin American telenovela in Spanish where the plot was melodramatic, and the performances were exaggerated. However, it was obvious that the TV was old, probably an issue with the antenna. The screen kept flickering with static.

"Fox, turn off the TV. Watching that kind of static can hurt your eyes," Sofia called out from the kitchen, poking her head around.

"Okay, Mom, I’ll try adjusting it, and if that doesn’t work, I’ll turn it off."

Fox sighed, walked over to the TV, and after her eyes darted around, the girl suddenly raised her hand and gently tapped the TV twice. After a few sudden jumps on the screen, the picture cleared up out of the blue.

"You see, when there’s a problem with an appliance, you just tap it a few times. My father used to do that when I was little," Fox said, pretending it was no big deal, as she settled back onto the couch.

A smirk appeared on Seed’s lips as he watched Fox for a moment and chuckled softly, "You really are a clever little fox."

Ordinary people like Sofia might believe that the TV was malfunctioning and that tapping it somehow fixed it... But Seed knew very well. Just now, the TV’s static was due to a problem with the antenna’s worn-out contact.

After the girl tapped it twice...

Miraculously, it was repaired!

「In the middle of the night.」

Seed lay in bed, calmly listening as the room’s door was slowly pushed open. A figure moved silently to the front of the bed, maintaining a safe distance of two steps away. The person seemed very patient. After entering, they locked the door behind them. When they stood in front of the bed, they adjusted their stance carefully. Without a sound, the jacket lying nearby was picked up, and every pocket was methodically searched.

"Don’t you know it’s rude to search through other people’s things?" Seed sighed softly.

!

The figure immediately turned around, their first reaction to step back rapidly, then raise the object in their hand!

It was a gun!

The barrel was steadily pointed at Seed on the bed.

Seed sat up in bed and slowly reached out to turn on the bedside lamp. As light filled the room, it illuminated the girl standing three steps away from the bed.

"Little fox, what brings you to me in the middle of the night?" Seed shook his head. "And that gun in your hand, that doesn’t seem like something a cute little fox would do."

Fox’s face was devoid of any panic. With a calmness that did not match her age, she slowly said, "Of course a fox can be cute, but don’t forget, foxes are carnivores, excellent predators."

Seed looked at the girl in front of him with great interest.

"Who exactly are you?" Fox asked coldly.

"A friend of your mother’s... Pointing a gun at your mother’s friend isn’t very nice, is it?"

"No," Fox shook her head. "You’re not her friend. From the moment you appeared at the door today, I could read an emotion in my mother’s eyes as she looked at you: fear.

"Although I don’t know why, my mother is actually very afraid of you.

"Moreover, during dinner, she had me sit to her left, which separated us, while she sat to her right. And I happen to know that the right side is closest to the cupboard—where my mother always secretly keeps a gun.

"She deliberately chose the seat closest to the gun while having dinner with you.

"And throughout the meal, her dinner knife was always within reach.

"From what I know about her, that’s the position and stance from which she’s most skilled at striking.

"After dinner, while we chatted in the living room, my mother stealthily observed you from the kitchen at least five times. Though she always turned on the faucet to mask any sound, I happened to see her reflection hiding behind the kitchen partition in a picture frame on the wall.

"In short, my mother has been constantly vigilant around you.

"My mother is a brave traveler and has even served in the army.

"According to any normal logic, an adult like her would never be so cautious and fearful of a ten-year-old child like you."

CLAP! CLAP CLAP CLAP...

Seed began to applaud with a smile, admiringly looking at the girl, "So you’re not just a cute little fox, you’re a genius little fox."

"And a hunter unafraid to see blood," the girl shook her head, speaking indifferently, "Who exactly are you, and why have you come to our home? Did my mother get into some trouble outside?"

Seed was about to say something when the girl coldly added, "Let me remind you, we’re less than 3.5 meters apart. I chose this handgun myself; its recoil and precision are perfectly suited for a girl my age. At this distance, my shooting accuracy is enough to be lethal with a single shot."

"So would you kill me?"

"No, I just want to remind you that I don’t like being lied to."

Looking at the girl’s calm face, she truly was calm, not just pretending. Seed could feel her heartbeat, breathing rate, and the steadiness of her hand holding the gun. Everything was very stable.

"Have you ever killed anyone?" Seed suddenly asked, out of curiosity.

"No... But I once cut a portion of a man’s calf muscle off—while he was conscious. He was a scumbag who tried to deceive my mother. It happened one year ago. So don’t think I’m afraid to harm you."

"If you fire that gun, your mother will wake up, then..."

"My mother is asleep. I used some methods to put her into a deep slumber. She won’t wake up for at least an hour, not even if someone sang ’Ode to Joy’ right next to her ear." The girl’s tone was very light. "Seed, listen carefully. I can deal with you and even have time to dig a hole in the yard to bury you temporarily. Tomorrow, I can tell my mom you left on your own in the middle of the night."

Seed laughed, his smile growing more and more pleasant, "Just because you think I’m suspicious, it doesn’t justify coming at me with a gun in the middle of the night, does it? That’s a bit much."

"No, it’s not an exaggeration," Fox said coldly. "I didn’t hear your name for the first time today, Seed."

"Oh?"

"Just a few days ago, I overheard my mother having a nightmare. In her dream, she mentioned your name.

"She said, ’Don’t kill, Seed...’"

The girl sneered, yet her gun pointed steadily at the boy, "So, you’re dangerous!"
