Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife
Chapter 35: Is My Husband Too Old?
CHAPTER 35: CHAPTER 35: IS MY HUSBAND TOO OLD?
"There’s a beautiful bridesmaid dress, right? The Vance Family is so rich, let alone the bride’s gown; even the bridesmaid dress is probably custom-made!" Just thinking about wearing a gorgeous bridesmaid dress made Monica Lambert’s eyes sparkle.
May Morgan watched her in exasperation, unsure of what to say, when suddenly there was a knock on the door.
"Huh, who could be visiting this late?"
Upon hearing the doorbell, Monica quickly climbed off the sofa, took a look through the peephole, and then looked back at May with a mischievous grin, asking, "Guess who’s here?"
Seeing her excited expression, May wondered if Adam Owens had come.
"Is it... Adam?" May’s face turned pale as she hurriedly stood up from the sofa.
She didn’t want to see Adam, especially not right now; she wanted to avoid him altogether.
"See for yourself." Before May could speak, Monica had already swiftly opened the living room door.
The man who appeared wasn’t Adam Owens but Vincent Vance, who had driven off only to return again.
Vincent held a large bag of snacks and didn’t seem to intend to come in. He handed the big bag of snacks to Monica, saying in a low voice, "Please take care of May tonight."
Monica looked excitedly at the pile of treats in her arms and deliberately turned back to ask May, "Hey, May, didn’t you say your husband is too old to make young girls happy? Yet he seems pretty considerate to me?"
Too old?
Vincent’s previously mild expression darkened instantly due to Monica’s words.
May had never said such a thing, and she was so angry that she threw a cushion over, yelling, "Monica, why are you so vicious? When did I say he’s old?"
"Oh, so you mean he’s boring?" Monica scratched her head, teasing May further.
Another cushion was thrown over. May was so infuriated by that scoundrel Monica that she could hardly stand it. How could she have said something so embarrassing to her? Dammit!
"Didn’t you say I could stay at Monica’s and you’d leave me alone? Why did you come back?"
With such an unreasonable friend, May had no choice but to deliberately change the subject and ask Vincent.
Vincent had planned to leave after delivering the snacks, but after hearing Monica’s earlier words, he decided not to go.
No fun? Tonight he’d show her what fun was.
As he lifted his long legs, Vincent boldly walked into Monica’s living room, casting a cold glance that immediately put a tense pressure on May.
"Is this how you talk about me to others?" Vincent rolled up his sleeves, already having the impulse to teach someone a lesson.
May noticed his intention to confront her and quickly stood up from the sofa, hiding behind Monica.
"Don’t, don’t do anything rash. This is my friend’s house." Remembering the sound of the belt striking the table earlier, May felt a shiver down her spine. Even though he hadn’t actually hit her, that terrifying feeling was something she could never forget.
Even with Monica’s protection, Vincent boldly took another step forward, scaring May into grabbing Monica’s shoulders and hiding behind her.
"You jerk, I’m warning you, this is my friend’s home. Show some respect."
Vincent’s eyes slightly narrowed, his voice turning cold, "Respect? Did you respect me outside?"
"That—that was all Monica’s nonsense. I never said you’re useless or boring." Faced with power and intimidation, May could only back down to avoid a real confrontation where she might end up beaten.
Monica turned to look at May, then at Vincent, who was a head taller than her. Out of sympathy for her friend, she quickly cleared her throat and explained to Vincent, "Uh, I was just joking earlier. May didn’t really..."
Before she could finish, a black and gold card suddenly appeared in front of her, almost blinding her.
"This card has no limit; buy whatever you want." Vincent waved the card in his hand, gesturing for Monica to take it.
Monica gulped dryly and grabbed the card without a second thought, saying, "This is really too much..."
"I remember there’s a mall nearby that’s open 24 hours?" With an enticing smile, Vincent gestured slightly towards the door.
Of course, Monica knew what he meant. An unlimited card! Forget clothes; even cars could be bought freely. Was she dreaming? She couldn’t believe she’d get to use an unlimited card.
"Well, I’ll go buy some things then. I won’t be back tonight. You two enjoy!"
Having received such a benefit, Monica quickly pocketed the card and rushed out to experience the life of the rich without even changing her clothes.
May stared speechlessly at the untrustworthy Monica, gritting her teeth angrily. So hateful, friends are indeed meant to be sold out!
Such a small temptation had thoroughly bought her out, and May finally saw the world for what it was.
"Now it’s just the two of us. Shall we talk about whether your husband is interesting or not, hmm?" As soon as Monica left, Vincent’s expression turned stern. With a swift motion, he pulled May into his arms.
May was so scared she stammered, looking at his murderous face. "I—I didn’t say it; don’t hit me!"
Vincent raised an eyebrow, thinking how effective the belt was; just one time and the troublemaker remembered it well.
"Want me not to hit you? Fine, make me comfortable, and I’ll let you off tonight." His fingers slightly pressed into her small waist as he flashed an evil smile, "Otherwise, the belt will serve."
"You, you’re going to abuse me again, and I..."
"Going to report me again?"
May’s face turned red as he interrupted her and, knowing this tactic wouldn’t work, she simply turned her face away in defiance, saying nothing further.
Oh, giving him the silent treatment?
"Come, it’s chilly at night; let’s discuss this on the bed." Vincent bent down, scooped May up horizontally, and walked straight to Monica’s bedroom.
"No way, this is someone else’s house. Don’t, don’t!"
Thinking about being in Monica’s house and how embarrassing it would be if he overpowered her again, May was frightened and struggled, almost falling from his arms due to her vigorous movement.
Vincent paused his steps, looked down at her, and said, "Then shall we find another place?"
Here we go again? She just didn’t want to do that with him, okay?
"No, you said I could stay at Monica’s tonight. Are you going back on your word?" Clutching onto his earlier words, May confidently glared at him and asked.
