CHAPTER 387: CHAPTER 387: THERE’S SOMETHING WRONG WITH HIS BLOOD

"Victor Grant, do you believe I’ll cut that thing of yours off?" May Morgan’s face darkened as she couldn’t help but reprimand him.

"Go ahead and cut it off, it’s not like you’ll be using it in the future..." Victor responded shamelessly, giving May a glance and acting like a rogue.

Damn it...

May really wanted to slap this guy against the wall so hard that he’d stick there and not come off. Apparently, his injuries weren’t serious enough since he still had the mind to joke around?

"I’m going to get the nurse!" May couldn’t be bothered to argue with him any further and turned on her heels to call a nurse for assistance.

In the instant she opened the door, she realized Jacob Jennings was still standing outside, waiting for her. Seeing her come out, Jacob’s voice turned slightly somber as he addressed her, "May, do you feel anything strange?"

May glanced down at her own hands, furrowing her brows slightly, and honestly replied to Jacob, "I can’t quite put it into words, just that it feels a bit odd. Especially these hands, they have an indescribable feeling."

Her hands seemed to be sealing some sort of strange power, making it an inexplicable oddity—not that she couldn’t move freely, it was that the ease of movement was what felt strange to her.

Jacob’s eyes darkened. He looked inside at Victor Grant for a moment, then said to May, "Although Victor is awake, he was after all injured by the insect curse, so there is some residual poison in his system, just like the young master now. Would you see if your blood can heal his wound?"

May gave Jacob a surprised look, "Are you saying that the reason Vincent Vance can’t stand is because of the poison in his system?"

Seeing that he couldn’t hide it from May anymore, Jacob truthfully told her, "That’s right, otherwise, with the young master’s physical strength, he wouldn’t still be in a wheelchair. Mr. Landry helped to remove some of the poison before, but his ability is limited, so to completely dispel it, we need your Dragon Insect blood."

"Then why didn’t you tell me sooner?" May complained, giving Jacob a glare, while pulling his hand, planning to find Vincent, "I’ll go help him now."

Jacob, however, didn’t move: "May, should you try to help Victor Grant first?"

May glanced up at him, suddenly feeling a bit uncomfortable; what did he mean by this? Was he using Victor as an experiment?

"Vincent got hurt by the poison because of me, but Victor was also injured by the poison to save me. Jacob, saying it like this makes me feel uncomfortable. Victor has deep feelings for me, and I shouldn’t keep using him."

Jacob silently stared at May’s face, deliberately asking, "So, does that mean you’re not planning to return to the young master’s side?"

May clutched her fingers, not saying a word. This was a question she dared not contemplate, for it was an unsolvable equation.

Whether returning to Vincent’s side or staying with Victor, both would bring her pain. Victor and Vincent were equally important to her, both irreplaceable in her heart, and she couldn’t bear to harm either one.

"I don’t know, I know nothing..." May leaned hopelessly against the wall, sighing softly, refusing further discussion on the subject with Jacob.

Jacob gazed at her complexly, finally saying, "Even if you decide to stay by Victor’s side, please use your blood to help the young master once. He shouldn’t be confined to a wheelchair; he deserves a better life."

"I know... I’ll consider it..."

After sending Jacob off, May turned back into the hospital room. The nurse had just finished assisting Victor. Seeing May return, Victor hurriedly complained, "Next time, don’t bring the nurse in, I can go to the bathroom by myself."

May rolled her eyes at him, sarcastically retorting, "Aren’t you the notorious flirt? Where else would you find such fortune?"

"Cut it out, I’m more than willing if you’re the one helping me, but them, I don’t even want them looking, okay?"

"Alright, stop pretending. Even injured, you can’t stay still!" May pushed Victor’s restless head back into place to lie down and then pulled up a chair to sit down.

She looked down, staring at the bandages on Victor’s chest, then at her own hands, her mind replaying Jacob’s words.

Seeing her zoning out staring at her own hands, Victor couldn’t help but ask, "May, what are you thinking?"

May glanced at him with a hint of embarrassment, asking, "Um, I want to discuss something with you."

In Victor’s eyes, there was no need for May to discuss anything with him, only to direct, "You speak, no need to discuss. Even if it costs my life, I’ll give it to you."

Rolling her eyes at his flippancy, May suddenly grew serious, "I’ve been thinking, you were hurt by Logan Vance’s vines before, so could there be residual poison in you? My blood seems like it can remove the poison, should I give you some?"

Hearing this, Victor immediately panicked, "No way, are you joking? I’m fine now, I can’t let you use your blood to heal me—are you crazy?"

To prove his body was fine, Victor quickly propped himself on the bed, struggling to stand. But with too much exertion, his wound tore open, and he collapsed back down, pained.

"Look at you, showing off for what?" May felt a pang of heartache seeing Victor sweating profusely, and she tenderly wiped his sweat with a towel.

Victor, suppressing the agony, quickly grabbed May’s hand, earnestly saying, "I can’t bear to see you hurt, don’t give me your blood, I don’t believe that—I’m fine, look!"

Just as Victor finished speaking, he suddenly felt a metallic taste climb up his throat. His face turned pale as he violently coughed up a mouthful of blackened blood.

Seeing Victor spit blood, May was terrified. She hurriedly wiped him with a towel, only to find that the blood was not only dark brown but also contained strange thread-like substances.

What was this? How could Victor’s blood have such things?

Frightened, May looked down at Victor, only to see that the lively man just now had turned ashen, losing consciousness quickly.

"Doctor!" May daredly rushed out to call a doctor in to assess the situation.

Victor was quickly pushed to the emergency room for rescue. To uncover the truth, May firmly followed into the emergency room.

The doctors examined Victor’s body, finding nothing abnormal, yet his face looked terrible, and he repeatedly slipped into unconsciousness, which was bizarre.

They conducted a full-body examination, internal organs were fine, all normal. Recalling the blood Victor coughed up, and the thread-like substance within it, May urged the doctors to perform a blood test on Victor.
