Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife
Chapter 41: So Good It’s Enviable
CHAPTER 41: CHAPTER 41: SO GOOD IT’S ENVIABLE
She had known for a long time that he married her for that Jade Pendant. No matter how well he treated her, it was all for the Jade Pendant and its secrets—she had known this long ago.
But, why did her heart still feel a little sour when she saw him acknowledge it? A little swollen?
When Vincent opened the door and came in, May was so startled that she immediately pulled up the quilt to cover herself completely, hiding inside and deliberately avoiding him.
She quietly waited for a while, but didn’t hear any movement outside. She thought Vincent had left, and curiously lifted the quilt to check. As soon as the quilt was lifted, Vincent’s big hand immediately grasped her small paw.
"Are you hiding from me?" Grabbing the woman’s slender wrist, Vincent slightly exerted force, pulling her out of the quilt, and then swiveled her onto his lap to sit comfortably.
He just liked hugging her like this; this woman’s body was soft, and holding her in his arms was as comfortable as holding a piece of soft jade.
May was sulking with him, so she kept wriggling in his arms, trying to wriggle out of Vincent’s embrace. The more she squirmed, the tighter he held, until she could hardly breathe.
"You, ease up, I can’t breathe." May gasped, reaching out to hit the damned Vincent.
With a mischievous smile at the corner of his lips, Vincent gripped her delicate chin and lifted it high: "Can’t breathe? Let me help you."
With that, he leaned over, fiercely pressing against her soft lips, invading deeply.
In the midst of their lip and tongue entanglement, May’s eyes suddenly widened, punching Vincent’s chest lightly. Though not strong, it ultimately made Vincent release her from his hold.
"You jerk, let go of me!"
Once Vincent released his arm’s grip, May promptly took the chance to leap off his lap and with a swish sound, darted back under the covers.
Vincent sighed helplessly, turned around and touched her exposed head, teasingly saying: ’Not showering again tonight?’
A muffled voice retorted from under the covers: "If you think it’s dirty, sleep somewhere else!"
"How could I think that? Even if you became a pig, I’d still like you." With a doting smile at the corner of his lips, Vincent got up from the bed and headed straight for the bathroom: "I don’t mind you, but I fear you mind me, I’ll go shower first."
After waiting a while under the covers and not hearing Vincent’s voice again, May climbed out and looked around, finding that he indeed wasn’t in the bedroom.
Remembering Melanie’s questions to Vincent, she felt so conflicted inside, yet who could she talk to about these words?
Secretly reaching under the pillow, May sent a text to Monica Lambert, spilling all her frustrations.
Monica felt she was being a bit melodramatic and advised her: ’You’re just overthinking, I see Vincent being pretty good to you, better than Adam was back then.’
"Oh, please, you’re just saying nice things because you’re comfortable spending Vincent’s money, right?"
"Come on, details tell the story, don’t you know? Say no more, just that new set of toiletries in my bathroom, wasn’t it Vincent who bought them for you early in the morning?"
May scratched her head, embarrassedly replied: "Maybe it was bought when he went to get breakfast?"
Monica immediately rolled her eyes and mercilessly jabbed at her: "Get real, the man’s a Vance Group CEO, making money every minute. If he didn’t have you in mind, would he be bored enough to buy you toiletries? I certainly wouldn’t."
"Well... Adam also bought me a lot of things back then, didn’t he?" May argued, unconvinced.
"Yes, I admit Adam bought you loads of stuff—flowers, snacks, the works. But let me ask you, who told me Adam pretended to be drunk to take advantage of you? You think about it, has Vincent ever forced you?"
Well...
Seems not.
Even if they had relations twice, it seemed both times she asked for his help?
Oh, how did they end up discussing this? So embarrassing.
"Forget it, I can’t argue with you, not going to talk about it anymore."
Worried that talking too much with Monica would lead to revealing her initiative in seducing Vincent to bed, May hurriedly ended the topic.
Just as she sent Monica away, Vincent emerged from the bathroom, startling her to quickly hide her phone under the pillow and pretend to sleep.
Vincent quietly walked to the bed, sat down and watched her for a while, then said to her: "I’ve prepared the bath water for you."
Feeling a bit embarrassed, May lifted the quilt to smell herself. Having not showered for two days, after being kidnapped and nearly assaulted, not saying she stank, she was certainly unpleasant.
"Th-thank you."
Embarrassed, she climbed out of the quilt, circled around Vincent, and obediently went to the bathroom to shower.
Watching May go into the bathroom, Vincent reached out and grabbed her phone from under the pillow. Due to her rush, the conversation with Monica was still open, so Vincent almost saw all their exchanges.
When May emerged from the bathroom, Vincent was sitting on the bed, working on his laptop. He seemed particularly busy, sometimes even dining while reviewing documents.
As May wiped her hair, she gently sat at the other end of the bed, watching his focused expression, with a small feeling of appreciation.
Monica was right; he was so wealthy, had such a status, yet was so busy, earning money every minute. But he would actually help buy her breakfast and also get toiletries, though he could easily ignore or have a subordinate send them over, yet he didn’t and instead went downstairs to buy them himself, showing she isn’t entirely insignificant in his mind, right?
After all, during his engagement with her sister, she seldom saw him proactively visiting the Morgan Family or formally giving her sister anything substantial.
Speaking of giving things, Vincent hadn’t given her anything either, had he?
As soon as this thought popped up, May shook her head, warning herself: their marriage is a business exchange, how ridiculous to talk about gifts?
May casually wiped her hair and was ready to rest, Vincent glanced at her once, noticing her wet hair still dripping water, he set aside his laptop, turned around and went to the cabinet to get a hairdryer.
"Come here!"
He stood at the edge of the bed, gesturing to May.
May hesitated seeing the hairdryer in his hand, but eventually obediently crawled over.
"You need to dry your hair before sleeping after a wash, otherwise you’ll have headaches, and... hair loss!" Vincent deliberately tousled May’s hair, smiling as he teased her.
