CHAPTER 42: CHAPTER 42: ADAM OWENS’ CAR ACCIDENT

The warm breeze gently blew on May Morgan’s scalp, and it felt incredibly comfortable. Vincent Vance’s hands were not only pleasant to look at but also exceptionally nimble—the sensation of his slender fingers gently massaging her scalp was even more soothing than the shampoo boy at the salon.

May couldn’t help but close her eyes, leaning back into Vincent’s arms with a contented hum.

Her heart, in that moment, was slowly melted by the man behind her.

"If I had met you earlier, perhaps there would have been fewer misunderstandings between us."

After drying her hair, Vincent put down the hairdryer, but he didn’t leave immediately. Instead, he opened his arms and gently embraced May from behind, pulling his beloved woman into his embrace.

"May, I want you to understand one thing—engaging with your sister was indeed for the sake of gaining control of the Vance Clan, but marrying you, I just want us to have a good life together."

Vincent sighed softly, his voice carrying a hint of resignation. He lowered his head slightly, gently resting his handsome chin on May’s head, and couldn’t help but tighten his arms around her a little more.

"Because it’s you, I no longer care about the Jade Pendant or the Vance Clan. I just want you to live well and have a good life with me. If anyone doesn’t allow it, I’ll overcome whatever stands in our way."

May reached out and tightly held his hands that embraced her, then looked up at him. Despite looking up, she still saw the determination in his eyes.

"Thank you, Vincent."

She broke free from his embrace, suddenly turned around, and hugged him, drawing his broad body into her arms.

Vincent patted her shoulder appreciatively, taking the opportunity to tease her: "How can you call me by my name?"

May blinked, looking at him rather blankly: "Then what should I call you?"

"Of course... call me husband!" He smiled, playfully pinching her delicate little nose.

"You’re annoying!" May’s face turned red, and she quickly let go of Vincent and turned back into the covers.

Little did she know, as soon as she got back in, Vincent also took the opportunity to lift the covers and join her.

"Hey, hey, hey, get out! We have a prenuptial agreement." Feeling Vincent’s body sticking close, May hurriedly used her hands and feet to push him away.

Vincent caught hold of her small hands easily, her hands so slender and soft, he couldn’t get enough of stroking them.

"That was the prenuptial agreement. We don’t have any agreement after marriage." Vincent’s shameless attitude was utterly displayed.

May was genuinely dizzy for a moment, with thoughts of prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.

Just when she was thoroughly confused, Vincent extended his long legs and pressed her entire body beneath him.

"You scoundrel, you..."

Before May could finish her sentence, her lips were quickly sealed by his: "I’ll only mess around with you; I don’t even glance at others!"

A smug smile played on his lips: "So you should consider yourself lucky."

"..."

Nonsense!

Melanie Morgan, thrown out by Jacob Jennings, turned back resentfully to glance at the Zenith Villa. Thinking of Vincent’s callousness and her own downfall, her eyes couldn’t help but show a hint of venom.

Vincent, don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to. You want to hide things from the old man, you want to protect May Morgan. I won’t let you have your way.

She gritted her teeth and stood up from the ground, turned around, and called a taxi heading straight to Logan Vance’s residence.

She knew that the second young master, Logan Vance, was always secretly competing with Vincent for power in the Vance Family. This man, who appeared gentle, held hidden intentions within—a gentle man often hides unseen needles. Since she could no longer have a future with Vincent, she chose to collaborate with Logan!

May, you may have taken my things today, but I will make you repay them tenfold, hundredfold in the future!

After being tormented the whole night by someone, May only managed to sleep as dawn approached. Now the sun was on her back, but May had no desire to get up.

She really couldn’t get up—her waist was so sore it felt like it was broken. If she had known someone’s fighting capability was this strong, she would have chosen to sleep in a separate room last night.

Vincent didn’t have the habit of sleeping in late; he woke up promptly at seven from his biological clock. He turned to look at the little lazy pig sleeping beside him, and remembered last night’s tenderness. Unable to resist, he bent down and kissed her forehead.

The stubble slightly grazed May’s forehead, made her feel a little ticklish, and she couldn’t help but push him away, mumbling: "You’re annoying, no more."

No more? Even sweeter than sugar—that voice was clearly seducing him, wasn’t it?

Vincent couldn’t resist pressing the delightful little woman beneath him once more.

This time, even Vincent, who usually woke up on time, got up later than usual.

Jacob Jennings was pacing anxiously at the bedroom door, thinking several times of knocking it and calling Vincent out for a discussion. But seeing the sweet and loving couple, he couldn’t bear to interrupt them. Besides, knowing the temperament of the young master, daring to disturb him at that time might be as good as a death wish.

After finally hearing movement from the bedroom, Jacob quickly walked over: "Young master, you’re finally out."

Vincent glanced at him, seeing his anxious expression, as if he had something important to say, so he asked, "What’s the matter?"

"Adam Owens, Master Adams had a car accident this morning."

Upon hearing about Adam’s sudden accident, Vincent halted his fingers on his cuff: "When did this happen?"

"In the morning, two hours ago." Jacob answered quickly.

Vincent’s face darkened, and he turned to glared at Jacob, angry at his inefficiency: "Two hours ago, why are you telling me now?"

Jacob looked innocently at the bedroom behind Vincent and murmured in a low voice: "I’ve been pacing outside your bedroom for two hours, but I needed you to come out, right?"

Vincent coughed awkwardly, shifting the topic: "Have you figured out the reason for this accident?"

"Not yet, but allegedly, Master Adams neither drank nor drove fatigued—it seems someone intentionally crashed into him."

Vincent pondered for a moment and asked softly, "How is he now?"

"He’s awake, but his leg is fractured. He might be staying in the hospital for a while."

Vincent thought deeply, turned to look at the bedroom, and suddenly instructed Jacob in a lowered voice, "Don’t let May know about this for now."

It wasn’t that he was being too selfish not to let May contact Adam Owens, but Adam’s car accident appeared mysterious.

Before thoroughly investigating the matter, May absolutely couldn’t be let out.

"Understood!"

Jacob naturally understood what Vincent was thinking, so he caught up and quietly suggested, "Third Miss has always had a crush on Master Adams. Why not take this opportunity to let Third Miss go to the hospital and show her concern more?"
