CHAPTER 440: CHAPTER 440: TAKE ME BACK

Victor Grant cast a vicious look over, speaking in a hostile tone, "Send her back for what? Are you looking to get killed? Didn’t you see what happened earlier? What can she do if she goes back?"

Heather Holt had never seen her son be so fierce toward her before and was too scared to speak at the moment. In the blink of an eye, May Morgan wobbled ten meters away, and Heather Holt looked up at her and said to Victor Grant with a heavy heart, "You should at least follow her and watch over her a bit. Look at how weak she is; she’s about to collapse!"

Just as she finished speaking, they saw May Morgan stumble ahead and suddenly fall to the ground.

"Ah, May!" Seeing May Morgan suddenly faint on the ground, Heather Holt was so frightened that she immediately shouted loudly.

Victor Grant initially didn’t want to bother with May Morgan out of spite, but upon seeing her suddenly collapse, he panicked and hurried over to scoop her up from the ground.

"You’re really being reckless. Do you still think you can go back and save Vincent Vance like this?"

Victor Grant snorted coldly, intentionally carrying May Morgan toward the car.

May Morgan was merely exhausted and not unconscious. She grabbed Victor Grant’s arm and threatened him, "Victor Grant, do you believe that if Vincent dies today, I will die with him!"

Her words were like a sharp needle, piercing deeply into Victor Grant’s chest, causing his stony heart to ache for a moment.

He believed her. How could he not believe? Hasn’t May Morgan risked death for Vincent Vance before? It’s not like he hasn’t witnessed her determination and fierce resolve.

But he had painstakingly set up this plot, finally forcing Vincent into a desperate situation. How could he give up so easily?

"May, it won’t help going back now. Logan Vance must have killed Vincent!" Victor Grant gritted his teeth, trying to persuade her.

"No, Logan wants me. As long as I haven’t gone back, he won’t dare kill Vincent. He won’t dare!"

May Morgan tightened her grip on Victor Grant’s clothes and pleaded with him, "Victor Grant, I promise you, once I save Vincent, I will live well with you. I’ll give myself to you, have your children. I won’t pester Vincent anymore. The half-year agreement will be void. I’ll be yours from now on, okay?"

As she pleaded with him, tears streamed down her face, making Victor Grant’s heart ache intensely, and he couldn’t help but hold her tighter.

"You... really mean it?"

Victor Grant hesitated a bit, looking at May Morgan, and seized the chance to impose conditions, "I can take you back, but regardless of whether Vincent is dead or not, you must promise me you’ll be mine and can never leave me."

"Alright, I promise you. I promise you..." Seeing Victor Grant finally nod, May Morgan nodded tearfully and quickly agreed.

As they drove back, Victor Grant worried about his mom being endangered, so he hailed a taxi at the roadside and sent Heather Holt home before driving May back.

Heather Holt sat in the taxi, turned back to look at Victor and May getting further away, and after some thought, instructed the driver, "Sir, please turn around."

Ten minutes later, Victor Grant’s car arrived back at the villa in the Western Suburbs. From over a mile away, they could see the place was in ruins, a hideous sight.

The earlier battle left the police unprepared, resulting in significant losses. Director Lawson wasn’t harmed, but his subordinates suffered serious injuries, greatly diminishing their combat effectiveness.

Several police cars were destroyed, and the guns in Director Lawson’s men’s hands were useless against the robust vines. Even if hit, the wounds on the vines rapidly healed. What’s more, the sap from these vines could cause corrosive fatal injuries to humans, which was incredibly frightening.

In desperation, Director Lawson considered discussing with others whether to use heavy weapons to wipe out these harmful entities entirely or simply blow the place up with explosives.

His words were overheard by May Morgan, who had just returned, and she immediately panicked, grabbing his hand and saying, "No, Vincent is still inside. You can’t do this, or he’s finished!"

Director Lawson gave May Morgan a sympathetic look, advising her earnestly, "Miss Morgan, I suggest you come to terms with it. You’ve been out for over half an hour, and look at us out here; many are dead or wounded. Do you really think Mr. Vance has any chance of survival in there?"

"Yes, I’m certain he does!"

May Morgan firmly assured Director Lawson, "I’ve told you, Logan Vance controls these vines. He’s inside, and he’s using Vincent as a hostage, so he won’t kill him easily because he knows if Vincent dies, he’s finished too!"

Seeing May Morgan seemed truthful, Director Lawson pondered for a while and asked her, "Then what do you suggest? You’ve seen yourself how overwhelming these things are, spreading all over the place in the blink of an eye. If not contained, they’ll engulf the entire Silverwood City soon, threatening everyone’s lives."

"I understand, Logan wants me. Please allow me to go in. I’ll rescue Vincent!" May Morgan sighed and pleaded earnestly with Director Lawson.

Director Lawson looked a bit troubled, casting a glance at Victor Grant, who immediately stepped forward and said to Director Lawson, "I’ll go in with her, okay?"

"Well... alright." Director Lawson handed two miniature walkie-talkies to Victor Grant and May Morgan, "Take these. If anything happens inside and you need support, just call me. In half an hour, the air force I dispatched will be here."

In order to defeat these vines, Director Lawson reluctantly called in the air force. However, mobilizing the air force was a complex and cumbersome process, requiring at least half an hour.

May Morgan couldn’t wait for half an hour. She had to go in now. Although she spoke confidently to Director Lawson and the others, assuring them Vincent was still alive, deep down, she was uncertain. When she left, Vincent was already captured by Logan Vance and hung mid-air, barely alive. After half an hour, who knew if Vincent was still alive?

With these thoughts, May Morgan tightened her grip on her fingers, vowing that if Vincent were dead, she would make sure that bastard Logan paid with his life!

After donning the walkie-talkie given to her by Director Lawson, May Morgan resolutely charged toward the villa.

Observing this, Victor Grant hesitated not at all, quickly following her.

Upon seeing May Morgan, the vines cowered in fear just as before, rapidly retreating to one side but still twitching eagerly, not daring to act rashly.

May Morgan walked slowly over the uneven ground, which was littered with debris. Worried she might fall, Victor Grant extended his hand to support her as they moved inside.
