Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife
Chapter 45: He’s Not That Stingy
CHAPTER 45: CHAPTER 45: HE’S NOT THAT STINGY
Before leaving, Logan Vance turned to glance at her, noticing her downcast eyes and unhappy expression. With a resigned sigh, he pulled out his phone and said, "How about this? Add me on WeChat, and I’ll be at the hospital later. I’ll live stream Adam Owens’ condition for you."
May Morgan’s face lit up with joy. She quickly took out her phone and added Logan’s WeChat number, "Thank you so much."
Logan Vance smiled gently and, without saying more, turned to leave.
After Logan left, May returned to her bedroom, weighed down with emotions, and waited for Logan’s WeChat message. About half an hour later, Logan finally replied.
"I’m at the hospital. Do you want to see how Adam’s doing?"
Upon seeing this, May quickly replied, "Yes."
"Alright, I’ll send you a short video."
About a minute later, a short video filmed by Logan arrived, showing Adam with his leg in a cast, talking to Maxwell Vance while lying in the hospital bed.
The two appeared to be getting along well. Maxwell peeled an orange and fed a segment to Adam, who accepted it and smiled back at her.
The sight made May feel a bit uneasy, so she quickly closed the video. Soon after, Logan sent another message asking, "Do you want to see more? I can send another video."
"No need, just knowing he’s well is enough." May exhaled deeply, tossing her phone far away, and lay back on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.
The Vance Family wanted to match Adam with Maxwell from the start, after all, the backgrounds of both families were evenly matched. Additionally, Adam and Maxwell had been childhood friends; if it weren’t for her presence, perhaps Maxwell would be Adam’s girlfriend now.
But... since she’s going to marry Vincent Vance, she never intended to be in two relationships at once. If Maxwell truly cares for Adam, then a weight would be lifted from her heart.
After all, no matter what Adam has done, he remains the same kind-hearted guy who protected her for five years in her memory, and she wishes the best for him.
Yet, thinking of Vincent Vance and his hypocrisy, saying one thing and doing another, made her feel particularly agitated.
In the afternoon, the bridal shop delivered the wedding dress. May wasn’t in the mood, so she only tried it briefly. Finding it acceptable, she let the staff leave.
As soon as the staff left, Vincent’s phone call came in: "Are you satisfied with the dress?"
Absently fingering the sparkling diamonds, May asked, "Do you think spending so much money just to wear it for a day is worth it?"
Vincent chuckled knowingly, his tone exceptionally assertive, "It’s worth it. For you, no amount is too much."
Faced with his sweet talk, May merely smiled indifferently, casually setting down the dress, "Is that so? As long as you’re happy."
The dress was truly gorgeous, a million-dollar gown, each item worth a fortune; how could it not look beautiful? But now, the more May looked at it, the more awkward and unattractive she found it.
The excitement she felt when trying on wedding dresses had completely disappeared because of Adam’s accident.
No, that’s not right. Is she angry about Adam’s accident? No, she’s angry at Vincent’s deceit, his selfishness, and treating her like a fool!
May was in low spirits, and Vincent noticed immediately. He asked worriedly, "What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
My heart feels uneasy, what else could be wrong?
"No, maybe I’m just too tired!" May didn’t feel like talking much with him, so she promptly hung up and returned to bed.
The wedding dress, draped over the model, stood in the corner of the bedroom. Staring at this priceless gown, May felt no joy, unsure if she entrusted herself to the right person, but she knew Vincent’s temperament was unbearable for her.
In a haze, she drifted off to sleep and later felt the mattress slightly sink beside her. When she slowly opened her eyes, she found Vincent had returned when she didn’t know.
Seeing her awake, Vincent’s originally stern face broke into a gentle smile: "Awake? Hungry? Want to go downstairs to eat?"
Is it already evening? May sat up and looked outside the window, confirming it was indeed nighttime. She turned away in despondence, pulling the blanket over her, "Not hungry, don’t want to eat."
Vincent gently patted her back, hesitating for a moment before saying solemnly, "Eat something downstairs first, then I’ll take you to the hospital."
To... the hospital?
May widened her eyes in disbelief, turning to Vincent, "Why go to the hospital?"
Why else, of course, to see Adam.
Their wedding was the day after tomorrow, and Vincent didn’t want any petty arguments between them; he wished for a joyous wedding and now wasn’t the time for discord.
His large hand gently cupped May’s face, lovingly stroking it as he looked down at her, eyes filled with adoration that could drown someone.
"I noticed you didn’t get up this morning, so I didn’t disturb you. Adam had a minor car accident, so I’ll take you to check on him later."
"Tonight... go?"
She didn’t know why, but hearing he wanted to take her to the hospital released all the pent-up frustration within her.
The hurtful words from earlier vanished with his explanation.
May thought, perhaps she really did have some affection for this man? Otherwise, why forgive him so easily?
"Yes, but eat first. I won’t allow you to go on an empty stomach, understand?" Vincent said with a smile, pulling her from the covers and helping her dress, "If you delay, I won’t take you."
"No, no, let me." May quickly and happily put on her clothes and prepared herself. When she turned around sharply, she unexpectedly caught a trace of melancholy in Vincent’s eyes.
Her heart sank, and she quickly explained, "I... I’ll just go see him. I’ll relax once I know he’s fine."
"I know." Vincent took May’s small hand into his palm, carefully comforting her, "I promised to confront the issues with Adam. Don’t think I’m petty. When it’s time to let go, I won’t hesitate."
Regardless of what feelings he may have, May was touched by his words and actions, "I know, I really do."
On the way to the hospital, May glanced worriedly at Vincent and tested his feelings, "What should I say to Adam when I see him?"
Vincent thought her occasional naivety was adorable, so he smiled and ruffled her hair comforting her, "Say whatever you want. If you think my presence is inappropriate, I’ll wait outside for you."
