CHAPTER 5: CHAPTER 5: SLEEPING ON THE SAME BED

"Uh, can I switch rooms?" May Morgan asked awkwardly, standing at the door.

The servant didn’t even look at her, just pushed her inside and closed the door behind her.

"Take a shower, there are bathrobes in the closet." Suddenly, Vincent Vance’s voice rang out.

May Morgan shuddered in shock, and when she turned her head, she saw Vincent elegantly reclining on the European-style bed, holding a laptop and looking at something.

Resigned, she walked to the wardrobe, opened it, and took a look. Sure enough, in the corner, she saw a women’s silk nightgown.

The style of the nightgown was sexy and revealing, definitely something her sister Melanie Morgan would like. May Morgan tried it on against herself, blushed, and quickly threw it back.

She didn’t really like Melanie, so she was repulsed by using anything of hers; she couldn’t bring herself to wear such a nightgown.

Wearing a nightgown like that, even if Vincent had no thoughts, he might develop some.

May Morgan picked and chose, eventually taking a brand-new men’s pajamas from the closet and walking into the bathroom.

"I’m done," May Morgan said as she walked out of the bathroom.

Vincent looked up and saw her standing there, fresh and clean, like a piece of tender and delicious tofu.

Vincent’s thin lips unconsciously curled in a satisfied smile as he looked at her.

May Morgan’s skin was unusually fair, her features were of the sort that grew on you; at first glance, not particularly striking, but the more you looked, the more appealing she became.

The pajamas were a bit baggy, and Vincent’s gaze skimmed over her collarbone then discreetly withdrew.

"Go to sleep," Vincent said as he placed the laptop on the nightstand beside him and gestured to the bed, indicating for May to lie down.

May stubbornly clutched the thin bathrobe, pretending not to hear, standing still.

Sleep on his bed? Is he joking? What if he couldn’t resist and did something to her in the night? She wasn’t that carefree.

Besides, if she really got into Vincent’s bed, how could she face Adam Owens?

Seeing her standing there immobile, Vincent’s voice turned chilly, "Come over."

His voice held a chill that tolerated no argument, causing May Morgan’s calves to tremble slightly as she exerted all her effort to remain standing, insisting, "Uh, I’m fine sleeping here tonight."

She pointed tremblingly at the Imperial Concubine Chair beside her, politely addressing Vincent.

"Come over."

Vincent’s face was growing cold, clearly warning her that he didn’t want to repeat himself a third time.

May Morgan looked at him, conflicted, but ultimately chose to persist, "Brother-in-law, I’ll sleep here."

May Morgan’s feelings were for Adam Owens, not Vincent. She had the basic moral boundaries; she couldn’t get that close to Vincent.

Clutching the only bathrobe she had, May decisively lay on that Imperial Concubine Chair, too afraid to meet Vincent’s frightening gaze, quickly turned her body, showing her back to the man on the bed.

Yet, even with her back to him, the man’s penetrating gaze still made May Morgan restless.

Does he have to be so terrifying? Can she have a peaceful night’s sleep tonight?

A cashmere blanket was suddenly tossed gently over, landing precisely atop May Morgan.

May Morgan was slightly startled, quickly turned her head to glance at Vincent behind her, only to catch sight of him turning away, facing his back to her.

Silently observing this man for a while, May couldn’t help but chuckle.
