CHAPTER 57: CHAPTER 57: HONEY, I’LL SUPPORT YOU

Alright, another difficult night.

In fact, May Morgan just wanted to lament about this miserable wedding and the pitiful wedding night. She didn’t mean to tease the man beside her, but she forgot that the man next to her was particularly prone to turning into a wolf at night. Even a casual word or a small gesture could make him keep her up all night.

Sigh, what a miserable life.

After being up all night, the next day, as expected, May got up late again. This time she simply slept until noon, only waking up in time for lunch.

Vincent Vance was a highly disciplined man. No matter how late he slept, he would always wake up at seven o’clock.

So this time when May got up, she didn’t see Vincent. She assumed he had gone to work as usual. Little did she know that when she went downstairs, there he was, sitting on the couch watching TV.

Watching TV? Didn’t he usually have no time even to eat because of how busy he was?

May, surprised, walked over to Vincent, taking a glance at the TV he turned on. She was puzzled to find he was enjoying the same anime they had watched at Monica Lambert’s house last time, prompting her to ask, "Is this cartoon that good?"

"It’s alright. You like watching it, so I’m trying to get into your taste."

Vincent turned his head to look at May, replying with a smile full of warmth.

May stared at his face for a while, feeling something was off, before she couldn’t help but ask, "Aren’t you going to work?"

As soon as she said this, she suddenly remembered what Arthur Vance had threatened Vincent with yesterday. Instantly, she widened her eyes in shock and snatched the remote control from Vincent’s hand, asking him seriously, "So, Grandpa really stripped you of your power?"

Vincent pinched her little face with his hand, teasingly squeezing it into a bun shape: "Yes, from now on your husband is just a bum. Would you dislike me?"

Of course, she wouldn’t dislike him. After all, he’s so capable. Even without the title of Vance Clan CEO, May firmly believed her husband would thrive in another field.

Moreover, he became like this all because of her, didn’t he? If she shamelessly despised him, what kind of person would she be?

"No, you turned out like this because of me. How could I dislike you?" May felt extremely guilty towards Vincent, so she couldn’t help but hug his arm and give him a quick peck on the cheek. "If you can’t find a job, I’ll earn money to support you."

Vincent was amused by her adorably silly words. He reached out to stroke her little head, deliberately teasing her, "You haven’t even graduated from college? Where will you find work?"

"I... I can go hand out flyers on the street or work part-time at McDonald’s. I used to do those to earn my living expenses." May confidently pounded her chest, making a promise.

Vincent sighed with heartache, and with one swift move, he scooped the little woman into his arms and placed her on his lap.

"I didn’t know you went through so much hardship before, but your husband will never let you live that way again."

"I believe in your ability. I just want to tell you, if you need someone to take care of, I can do it." May wasn’t very good at sweet talk, so though she had many tender words in her heart, they turned out a bit awkward and off when spoken.

However, the more clumsy she was in expressing herself, the more Vincent adored her. Unlike Melanie Morgan’s calculated efforts to please, such simplicity and sincerity were what he really needed.

Jacob Jennings pushed the door open and walked in, and seeing the two on the couch lovey-dovey, his face showed a hint of embarrassment. He quickly tried to open the door and leave to give them some privacy.

Vincent caught a glimpse of him and hurriedly stopped him by saying, "Is everything settled?"

Jacob cleared his throat before coming back with a whole pile of documents in his hand.

"Young Master, as per your instructions, I’ve sent all the company’s handover matters to Logan Vance. However, there’s still no word from the old master yet."

After saying that, Jacob gently placed the huge stack of materials in front of Vincent, indicating for him to take a look, ’These are all the documents that require your personal attention for the handover. Please sign them if everything’s alright.’

"Sign what? Just give the information to Logan. If the old master asks, tell him I’ve already taken May on a vacation and won’t be back anytime soon."

Jacob gave Vincent a meaningful look and asked in a somber voice, "Young Master, if you stir things up like this, there’s really no way to mediate with the old master."

Vincent glanced at him, his gaze gradually turning cold: "I never intended to compromise with him. I’m giving Logan three months. If he can keep the Vance Clan running, I’ll willingly step down."

As he said this, the composure and confidence on Vincent’s face were evident.

Indeed, although the Vance Clan’s power remained in Arthur Vance’s hands, all business affairs were under Vincent’s control. Over the years, whether it was the shareholders, the employees, or long-term business partners, they only recognized Vincent’s ability to manage things. Now that Vincent was suddenly withdrawing, if Logan could manage to hold things together, it would truly be a testament to his skills.

It’s not that Jacob doubted Vincent’s ability; he just hoped there could be a compromise, as Vincent’s approach was like a strategy of losing a thousand enemies to hurt eight hundred, which wasn’t the best solution for him personally or for the entire Vance Clan.

"Young Master, this whole thing is just Logan Vance meddling in the background. His goal is to take back Vance Clan from your hands. If you withdraw now, you’ll likely fall into his trap." Jacob patiently advised Vincent.

However, Vincent had already made up his mind and didn’t want to discuss it any further: "Stop talking about it. I know what I’m doing."

After saying this, he waved his hand at Jacob somewhat impatiently, signaling him to take those documents away: "From now on, do not bring these sorts of files to my Zenith Villa, understood?"

Jacob reluctantly looked at Vincent, bent down to pick up the documents, and left: "Understood, Young Master."

After Jacob left, May quickly grabbed Vincent’s arm and asked him, "Did you really resign as CEO of Vance Clan?"

"No, it’s just that Logan will take over temporarily."

Not wanting May to worry too much, Vincent gave a faint smile while reaching out to gently caress her smooth and delicate little face, softly comforting her.

May wasn’t worried about him losing money or status. Her concern was more about whether a person like him, who had always been so dazzling, could handle the drastic fall from grace.

"If you’ve really made up your mind, then I support you. Like I said, if you run out of money, I can go out and earn it."
