CHAPTER 6: CHAPTER 6: WHAT AN AWFUL SLEEPING POSITION

She always thought he was a very cold-hearted man, decisive in his actions, never showing mercy. But now it seems, he isn’t as terrifying as she imagined.

Staring at Vincent Vance’s solid, broad back, May Morgan slowly closed her eyes after a long while.

She was genuinely exhausted, a yawn escaped her, and she fell asleep without a care.

In the middle of the night, she suddenly felt cold, shivering all over, she couldn’t help but clutch the blanket around her, curling up like a shrimp.

Just as she planned to curl up for warmth, a pair of slender arms slowly reached beneath her and suddenly lifted her off the Imperial Concubine Chair.

It was like falling from a world of ice into warm cotton; May Morgan suddenly felt comfortably warm all over.

"Mmm..."

Feeling the warmth, May Morgan murmured in delight, instinctively snuggling closer to the person beside her, continuing to sleep, while draping a leg over this oversized pillow.

Vincent Vance’s chin was tickled by her messy hair, he opened his eyes and glanced down at the little head nestled into his embrace. A gentle light flickered in his eyes.

He wasn’t accustomed to cuddling someone while asleep, but he didn’t dislike the sensation of this woman nestled against him.

Looking down at the woman sleeping like a cat in his arms, Vincent Vance’s eyes gradually turned complex, he gently got up, took the phone from beside the pillow, and retreated silently from the bedroom.

"Did you find out?" Vincent Vance stood in the silent hallway, asking Jacob Jennings on the phone in a low voice.

"The investigation is clear, Young Master. Melanie Morgan confessed that the Jade Pendant given to the old man was indeed forged by her father, merely to covet the marriage proposal made by the old man. As for the real Jade Pendant, she remains unaware of its whereabouts, but it’s undoubtedly in Miss May Morgan’s possession."

Vincent Vance furrowed his brow, suddenly instructing Jacob Jennings, "Investigate May Morgan’s background."

The cost of deceiving the Vance Family is insurmountable unless Mason Morgan has some unspoken secrets, forcing him to engage in deceit.

"Yes, I’ll get right on it," Jacob Jennings quickly agreed.

After thinking for a moment, Vincent Vance suddenly instructed Jacob Jennings in a deep voice, "Investigate this Jade Pendant as well, there’s something unusual about it."

To obtain this Jade Pendant, the old man was willing to use the Vance Family’s power as a bargaining chip, declaring that whoever marries the Morgan Family daughter holding the Jade Pendant would be handed authority, and the Morgan Family daughter would become the mistress of the Vance Family.
