Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife
Chapter 64: Leave the Jade Pendant
CHAPTER 64: CHAPTER 64: LEAVE THE JADE PENDANT
May Morgan had good intentions; Arthur Vance was so obsessed with that Jade Pendant, if it were left with Grandma, it would surely bring her deadly trouble, so it would be more appropriate to entrust it to Vincent Vance for safekeeping.
Grandma silently watched May Morgan for a while, seeing that her mind seemed set, she sighed helplessly and asked, "Do you really trust him? Men are not trustworthy."
"Grandma, although I haven’t known Vincent for long, he’s really been good to me. When I was in the most difficulty, it was Vincent who stepped in and saved me, my life could be said to be given by him. If I don’t trust him, who else could I trust?"
Saying this, May Morgan’s eyes involuntarily became a bit moist, under the bright moonlight, those crystal-clear tears shimmered with a heartache-inducing light.
"Even my father could be so heartless to me, and my sister has always been trying to harm me. Grandma, tell me, who else can I believe in?"
These words, bottled up inside for so long, could only be expressed to someone closest, someone she could open her heart to. May Morgan wasn’t asking Grandma to trust Vincent, she just felt that compared to her cold-blooded father, Vincent, who had no blood ties with her, seemed much more reliable.
In the end, Grandma sighed and stopped persuading May. She pulled May back to bed and gently comforted her, saying, "Sleep, you’ve grown up and have your ideas, I won’t interfere with you anymore."
With those words from Grandma, a stone in May’s heart was laid to rest. She glanced at Grandma for a while, seeing her asleep, she finally closed her eyes with peace of mind.
In the middle of the night, she suddenly heard movement nearby and quietly opened her eyes. Then she saw Grandma getting dressed and out of bed.
Grandma’s movements were careful, as if fearing to wake her up. At first, she thought Grandma was getting up to go to the bathroom, but later felt something was off, because shortly after Grandma left, she seemed to hear movement from Vincent’s room.
What was Grandma doing looking for Vincent in the middle of the night?
Curious, she sat up from the bed, threw on some clothes, and opened the door slightly to look outside. Sure enough, she saw Vincent following Grandma to the courtyard outside.
May quietly followed them, hiding behind a door panel to watch. She saw Grandma lead Vincent to sit on a stone bench in the courtyard, and then began talking to him.
Since she was too far away, May couldn’t hear what they were saying. The gentle moonlight spilled over Vincent, making him look exceptionally handsome.
The two talked for a long time, and suddenly May saw Vincent take something out of his pocket. In the moonlight, May saw it was that Jade Pendant.
The Jade Pendant emitted a soft white glow under the moonlight, looking especially beautiful. Vincent handed the Jade Pendant to Grandma, who inspected it carefully in the moonlight before putting it away.
After Grandma put the Jade Pendant away, Vincent didn’t seem too disappointed. Instead, he politely stood up from the stone bench and bowed to Grandma.
May saw that they were about to return and quickly turned back to get back into bed.
Soon after, she heard the sound of the door behind her. She guessed it was Grandma returning, so to not make her suspicious, she quickly closed her eyes pretending to sleep.
A large hand suddenly rested on May’s waist, startling her out of her fake sleep.
The warmth and strength of this hand were definitely not Grandma’s, but Vincent’s?
"What are you doing?"
May turned around in surprise, looking at Vincent who had suddenly crawled into bed. Just as she was about to speak, Vincent quickly placed his index finger gently on her lips, then whispered, "Shh."
"Don’t make a noise, I switched rooms with Grandma." He explained to May, particularly pleased with himself.
If May hadn’t seen them return together, she certainly would’ve thought Vincent sneaked over in the middle of the night to bother her. However, since he could come, he must have Grandma’s permission.
Grandma was always a conservative person. Even though May and Vincent were married, if she hadn’t accepted Vincent, she would never allow him to sneak over at night.
"How did you persuade Grandma?"
Recalling the scene where Vincent returned the Jade Pendant to Grandma, May couldn’t help but ask.
Vincent, not wanting to tell her the truth, evaded by saying, "I don’t know, I was sleeping well, then Grandma came over and told me you were snoring, keeping her awake, so she suggested we switch!"
May really wanted to kick him off the bed, snoring? Who exactly was snoring at night?
"Are you going to tell me or not? If not, so be it!" May turned away angrily, pulling the blanket over her to sleep.
Vincent finally got the chance to cuddle with his beloved wife, how could he waste this beautiful night?
"Wife, are you angry?" Vincent reached out to shake May’s little shoulder. Seeing her not moving, he quickly smiled ingratiatingly, "Okay, okay, I’ll tell the truth, Grandma just called me out, and we talked about something."
Hmph, that’s more like it!
Hearing this, May turned back around and looked at him seriously, asking, "Tell me, what exactly did Grandma say to you?"
"Grandma asked me to keep the Jade Pendant with her, otherwise she doesn’t trust our Vance Family," Vincent replied honestly.
May paused, feeling a bit touched, she asked him, "So you returned the Jade Pendant to her?"
"Yes, I thought it over, if it’s with Grandma, Grandpa won’t notice, it’s also the safest for you."
After saying that, Vincent pulled May’s body closer, kissing her forehead, then continued saying, "Mainly because of what Grandma said, she said she could find someone to remove the Dragon Insect from the Jade Pendant, that way Grandpa won’t harm you anymore. I thought this was the only way to protect you, so I gave it to her."
Dragon Insect, again the Dragon Insect, it seems there really is a Dragon Insect in that Jade Pendant?
Forget it, since Grandma said there’s a way, let her take the Jade Pendant and help get rid of that damned thing.
"Grandma probably wants to test you, to see if you’re truly sincere to me." Recalling Grandma’s earlier rejection of Vincent, May couldn’t help but say.
Hearing this, Vincent immediately raised his eyebrows proudly, pressing May under him, "So, I’ve passed the test, right?"
Seeing him about to make a move again, May quickly kicked him to the side, "Don’t get any ideas, this house doesn’t have the soundproofing like the villa."
"It’s okay, just don’t make any noise afterward."
Certain shameless someone once again stretched out his arms and legs, clinging to her like an octopus, directly pinning May down on the bed.
If it weren’t for fearing Grandma would hear, May really wanted to yell, "I shouldn’t make noise? If we actually do it, who’s noisier?" Who’s the bastard who almost rocks the bed apart?
...
