Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife
Chapter 65: Adam Owens’ Suspicion
CHAPTER 65: CHAPTER 65: ADAM OWENS’ SUSPICION
Early the next morning, May Morgan crawled out of bed with panda-like eyes and saw Vincent Vance already up and helping Grandma make breakfast. Although his movements were a bit clumsy and he wasn’t washing the dishes very well, his extremely serious demeanor instantly earned him extra points.
Grandma, who had previously been cold and sarcastic, gradually became a bit kinder to him, even occasionally smiling at Vincent.
Watching the harmonious scene in the kitchen between the two, young and old, May felt particularly at ease in her heart.
There’s nothing happier than having the man you chose be accepted by your elders. If there is, it’s winning five hundred million, but she already has that now because her man has it, and what’s his is hers, right? So, what more could she want?
After breakfast, Vincent glanced at the beautiful mountains surrounding them and suddenly got inspired, suggesting that he and May go for a climb.
May hadn’t climbed a mountain in a long time. Her petite frame was not what it used to be, so she was a bit reluctant to go. However, seeing Vincent so enthusiastic, she gritted her teeth, stomped her foot, and decided to accompany him for a while.
They had barely walked a few kilometers when May, exhausted, sat down to rest, sweating all over.
Vincent, on the other hand, was relaxed and at ease. Seeing May sitting on a rock, not moving, he couldn’t help but tease her, "Weren’t you raised in the mountains? Is this all you got?"
May rolled her eyes helplessly, defending herself, "Yes, I grew up in the mountains, but only until I was a teenager. Didn’t I go to school in Silverwood City after that? Besides, if you hadn’t kept me up all night last night, I wouldn’t be so out of shape!"
Recalling how he kept her up till dawn, May was infuriated, wanting to punch his smug face. If only she had the strength to stand, she certainly would.
"I did all the work last night, and you dare to say you’re tired?" Vincent smirked cunningly, teasing her.
May was so annoyed she turned away in a huff, refusing to look at him.
"Are you mad?" Seeing May’s displeasure, Vincent immediately bent down to ask.
May, still sulking, ignored him. Seeing this, Vincent suddenly squatted down in front of her.
"Come on, let your husband apologize."
He extended his hand, indicating for her to get on his back. May was momentarily stunned, but once she understood his intention, she immediately leaped from the rock and settled herself on his broad back with a thud.
"Are you trying to crush me? You’re so heavy!" Vincent complained, pretending to suffer as he adjusted May’s small bottom.
Annoyed, May shifted her weight on his back, as if paying him back, "You still wanna talk? One more word, and I’ll flatten you."
"Alright, I won’t say another word." Vincent shook his head exasperatedly, sealed his lips, and began carrying his wife down the mountain.
Lying on Vincent’s back, May felt like the happiest woman on Earth. Looking down at Vincent, she found his profile particularly handsome.
Impulsively, she took out her phone, snapped a few pictures of his side profile, and in a moment of carelessness, posted them to her social media feed.
Vincent sensed May taking photos and reminded her, "It’s fine if you take pictures, but don’t let people know our whereabouts."
His words suddenly reminded May that she had just posted those photos, so she quickly pulled out her phone and deleted them.
Vincent was right; good news travels fast, and even though she didn’t have many friends on her feed, one busybody might figure out their exact location from those photos. What then?
"So, when are we heading back?" May asked Vincent as they neared the foot of the mountain.
Vincent thought for a moment before replying, "It’s up to you. Anyway, we already gave the Jade Pendant back to Grandma. Whenever you want to leave, we’ll go."
May considered it and then suggested to Vincent, ’I hope Grandma can come with us to Silverwood City to clear up the Dragon Insect issue with Grandpa. Otherwise, once we’re back, Grandpa will continue to have people watch me.’
"It’s pointless. I asked Grandma about it last night; the Dragon Insect issue is real, so Grandpa wouldn’t believe her anyway. The only solution is for Grandma to remove the Dragon Insect from the Jade Pendant, cutting off Grandpa’s obsession so he won’t trouble you anymore."
May nodded, realizing Vincent’s approach was thoughtful. In that case, staying there was meaningless, and they might as well return soon.
"Shall we leave today then? Leave the Jade Pendant for Grandma to handle, and the rest is up to fate."
May sighed helplessly, deciding to drop the subject of the Jade Pendant. As they approached the house, she quickly jumped down from Vincent’s back.
Vincent looked at her in surprise and asked, ’Why did you get down? I’m not even tired.’
"It’s because you’re my man. I gotta save you some face in front of others, right?" May playfully stuck out her tongue and hopped towards the door to knock.
Vincent stood there behind her, watching her cheerful demeanor, smiling dotingly.
He liked her more and more this way—pure, without much on her mind, yet with her own boundaries and principles.
As lunchtime approached, May suddenly received a WeChat message. Pulling out her phone, she found it was from Adam Owens.
Apparently, Adam had accidentally seen the photos she posted on her social media, so he came to ask about them.
"Did you and Vincent go on a honeymoon?"
May hesitated for a moment before replying, "Yeah, went out for a few days. He’s stepped down as CEO of Vance Clan, so he has some free time now."
"Where did you go?"
May thought for a bit before replying, "Bali Island."
She was just making it up. She didn’t even know what Bali looked like, but she knew one thing: even Adam shouldn’t casually be informed of their location.
"Bali Island? But the places in your photos look like they’re in the mountains?" As expected, May’s random excuse didn’t fool Adam at all.
May’s mind raced as she quickly came up with another excuse, "Oh, those were photos I took yesterday. I just remembered to post them today. Today we’re at Bali Island."
"Oh, really? I thought you’d gone back to your hometown, Crestwood. The place looks a lot like the mountains in Crestwood."
"Haha, you’re overthinking it. Why would we go back to Crestwood?" Seeing it was risky to continue chatting with Adam, May quickly found an excuse to end the conversation.
Adam had been to Crestwood with May before, so he was quite familiar with the surroundings. May was thankful she took Vincent’s advice and deleted those photos in time. Otherwise, with Adam’s persistent questioning, something might have gone wrong.
Looks like they need to go back soon; this place wasn’t somewhere they could stay long-term.
