Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife
Chapter 66: Was That a Dragon?
CHAPTER 66: CHAPTER 66: WAS THAT A DRAGON?
After lunch, May Morgan took Vincent Vance and bid farewell to Grandma. As they were about to leave, Grandma earnestly held May’s hand, then transferred it to Vincent’s hand.
Looking at her fingers resting in Vincent’s palm, May felt a warmth in her heart. She knew this was Grandma’s way of acknowledging Vincent.
"May is a child with a hard life; you must take good care of her," Grandma earnestly instructed Vincent.
Vincent sincerely promised Grandma, "Grandma, don’t worry. If ever I betray May, may I die a miserable death."
Upon hearing Vincent’s strong oath, Grandma calmly chuckled and advised him, "Life is long, and there’s no need to swear such venomous vows. If one day you no longer love May, let her go without making her suffer. Remember, if you can’t be husband and wife, there’s no need to be enemies."
Vincent raised his head to look at Grandma’s face and suddenly reassured her, "Grandma, I’m not someone with fickle feelings. Since I’ve chosen May for this life, I will love her alone forever, without any second thoughts."
Grandma chuckled calmly at his words, saying nothing more. She turned to look at May and then said, "Let’s go. I’ll handle the matter of the Jade Pendant for you."
Though Grandma never mentioned how to handle the Jade Pendant, May knew that she was her Grandma, the only elder in the world who truly cared for her. So even if she said nothing, May continued to trust her.
Sitting on the long-distance bus heading back, May felt uneasy. She leaned on Vincent’s shoulder, hoping to rest, but as soon as she closed her eyes, a vast blood-red vision appeared before her.
With each attempt, the feeling of unease in her heart grew stronger. Until the bus arrived at the station, and Vincent pulled her off to go to the airport, May suddenly stopped and said to Vincent, "Vincent, I have a really bad feeling."
Vincent looked down at her complexion, noticing she seemed pale. Assuming she was tired, he gently comforted her, "It’s okay, you’re just tired from the journey. Once we’re on the plane, have a good nap, and everything will be okay."
"No, something’s not right. I feel like something is off."
The more May thought about it, the more uneasy she felt. She wasn’t typically a sensitive person, but this time, the farther she got from her hometown, the stronger her sense of unrest became.
"Vincent, do you think Grandma might be in trouble?" Suddenly thinking about Grandma, May quickly grabbed Vincent’s arm and asked.
Vincent thought carefully and then consoled her, "Should be fine, right? Our whereabouts aren’t known by anyone, correct?"
May blinked, feeling a bit confused, "I don’t know... When I sent those pictures, I think Adam Owens saw them. He even texted me on WeChat."
Upon hearing Adam Owens’ name, Vincent’s expression turned sour, and he grabbed May’s arm firmly, asking her sternly, "What exactly did you say to him?"
"Nothing, nothing significant. You can see for yourself." Knowing Vincent hated her communicating with Adam Owens, May quickly pulled out her phone to show him her WeChat records with Adam.
Vincent stared at the chat records for a long time, his frown deepening with each look.
"Wh-what’s wrong? Is there something odd?" May looked at Vincent’s face, sensing it wasn’t simply anger, and felt a bit worried.
Vincent glanced at her, said nothing, and just pulled her toward the airport.
"It should be okay. You’re overthinking. Let’s go home." He feigned a relaxed demeanor and took her to a taxi.
Sitting in the car, May noticed Vincent send a text from his phone, intrigued, she asked curiously, "Whom are you contacting?"
Vincent quickly put away his phone and replied with a smile, "Jacob Jennings, informing him we’re heading back today and asking him to arrange everything."
"Oh, oh." Despite Vincent’s actions seeming odd, since he didn’t want to say, May wisely refrained from asking further.
Before their car reached the airport, a sudden storm brewed outside, minutes later, dark clouds loomed overhead, indicating a massive rainstorm.
The taxi driver glanced at the ominous sky, muttering to himself, "Such a big storm, Crestwood hasn’t seen rain this heavy for years!"
Just as he finished speaking, a strong blinding flash of lightning tore across the sky, and soon a chaotic wind arose everywhere.
"You two, the heavy rain is imminent, and flights definitely can’t take off. The sky looks dark too, so why don’t you stay at a nearby hotel to wait out the rain?"
With such heavy rain, flights couldn’t take off. Vincent pondered for a moment and agreed with the driver, letting him drive to a nearby five-star hotel to stay.
As soon as they reached the hotel, the heavy downpour started. May looked at the torrential rain outside, her mind growing more unsettled.
Although Vincent kept reassuring her, the anxiety within her intensified, so much that each time she closed her eyes, she saw blood everywhere. As if the blood held life, it surged toward her, threatening to drown her.
She shivered involuntarily, and upon seeing this, Vincent quickly took off his coat and draped it over her, gently comforting her, "Are you cold? If you’re cold, go take a nap in bed."
May glanced at him, about to rest in bed when suddenly a vivid lightning bolt sliced the sky behind her. Amazed by the spectacle, she couldn’t help but turn to take a look.
With that glance, she saw a dragon in the clouds.
A blood-red dragon, weaving through the thick clouds, appeared for just a moment before disappearing again.
"Did you see anything just now?" Afraid she had imagined it, May quickly grabbed Vincent’s arm and asked.
Vincent slowly withdrew his penetrating gaze from the window and looked at May, then softly spoke, "I saw it. It was a dragon."
"Yes, right? I saw it too, a big red dragon. I thought I was seeing things, but you saw it too," May said to Vincent, both shocked and delighted.
To the Chinese, dragons have always symbolized good fortune. At first, May thought seeing a dragon was incredibly lucky, but then she recalled another matter: the Dragon Insect!
Grandma said she would find a way to rid the Jade Pendant of its contents, and coincidentally, as soon as they left their hometown, the massive rainstorm happened, with a dragon seen in the sky.
Could this mean...
