Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife
Chapter 67: Did Something Happen to Grandma?
CHAPTER 67: CHAPTER 67: DID SOMETHING HAPPEN TO GRANDMA?
May Morgan suddenly looked up, just about to speak with Vincent Vance, but saw him staring out the window, deep in thought. She was startled and quickly grabbed his arm, asking, "Vincent, are you also thinking about the connection between that dragon and the Dragon Insect within the Jade Pendant?"
Vincent turned his head to glance at her, then looked out at the still stormy weather, and gave a slight smile to comfort her, "Maybe we were just seeing things earlier. How could there really be dragons in this world?"
"No, that’s not right. Although that dragon only appeared in the sky for a moment, I saw it very clearly. Even the scales on its body were visible, it couldn’t have been an illusion."
May shook her head, unable to forget the appearance of that dragon. She hesitated for a moment and then discussed with Vincent, "How about, once the rain stops, we go back to see Grandma? I’ve been uneasy all the way, afraid something might happen to her."
It was already getting dark. Vincent furrowed his brow, thinking that by the time the rain stopped, it would be completely dark. If, as May suggested, they go back when the rain stops, it could be dangerous, especially since the family’s old house is in a remote area, all mountain roads.
"Let’s wait until the rain stops. It’s hard to say when it will end." Vincent didn’t want May to worry too much and gently persuaded her.
May also looked at the endless heavy rain outside, thought about it, and then turned to return to bed, taking her phone to dial Grandma’s house number.
But the call wouldn’t go through, likely because the heavy rain had disrupted the line, making it temporarily impossible to connect.
She threw the phone down in frustration, turned over on the bed, and stared at the ceiling absentmindedly. May didn’t dare to close her eyes now, because as soon as she did, that terrifying image would come back, making her restless.
Seeing her toss and turn, unable to sleep, Vincent went over, pulled up the quilt, and lay down with her.
He stretched out his arm, hinting for her to lie in his embrace to sleep: "Are you afraid of having nightmares again? Come here, I’ll hold you so you won’t have nightmares."
May was touched and smiled at him, raised her head to lean her little head against Vincent’s arm, and indeed, resting her head on his shoulder, her heart became much more settled.
"It’s good to have a husband."
May smiled, touched by emotion, and reached out to touch Vincent’s handsome nose. Vincent extended his other hand, caught her small hand, and brought it to his lips to kiss.
"Sleep."
He smiled and comforted her.
May sighed with relief, finally closed her eyes to rest, and sure enough, with Vincent holding her, the nightmare didn’t return, and she could finally have a peaceful sleep.
She slept until midnight, opened her eyes, and looked around. Vincent was not in bed, and the rain outside seemed to have stopped.
She quickly sat up from the bed, first looked around the house, but didn’t see Vincent’s figure, and suddenly felt a bit anxious. Where could he have gone in the middle of the night?
May uneasily got out of bed, first opened the curtains to look outside. After the storm, downstairs was a mess, and perhaps because of the recent rain, the moon in the sky was exceptionally bright, illuminating everything on the ground so clearly.
May saw that many street lamps and trees downstairs were destroyed, and even the billboards were blown down by the strong wind. This storm was indeed rare; she had never seen anything like it in Crestwood in all her years.
The thought of that Red Dragon suddenly popped into her mind, making May a bit flustered. She grabbed a coat and put it on, then went to the living room to look for Vincent.
Vincent wasn’t in the living room either!
Where could he have gone at this hour? Where could he go?
Not seeing Vincent, May felt increasingly unsettled. She opened the bathroom door—not there, checked the toilet—still not there. There were only a few rooms in the hotel, so if she couldn’t find him, it only meant he had gone out!
May quickly walked to the door, and just as she opened it, she heard a low male voice in the quiet corridor.
It was Vincent on the phone with someone.
His voice was soft, and if not listening closely, one couldn’t hear what he was saying, but instinctively, May had a feeling he was hiding something from her.
Because normally, he never made calls behind her back.
Out of curiosity, she didn’t directly go out to find him but instead opened a crack in the door to eavesdrop on what Vincent was saying.
She heard Vincent say to the person on the phone, "Understood, keep this matter under wraps for now. I’ll think of a way to deal with it after I take her back."
After saying this, Vincent let out a helpless sigh, and through the door crack, May could see the conflict clearly marked on his face.
What on earth is he hiding from me?
As May was lost in thought, Vincent ended the call. Seeing him turning back, May quickly closed the door and hurried back to bed to lie down.
About a minute later, she indeed heard the sound of Vincent coming in. He stood by the bed, looked at her, and instead of immediately lying down, he turned to go to the window and stare at the moonlight outside.
May lay in bed, silently watching his figure standing by the window, watching for a long time.
She knew he had something on his mind, and she really wanted to know, what is so important that he has to hide it from her. But despite pondering for a long time, she couldn’t bring herself to ask.
When Vincent turned his head and saw May awake, he paused, "You’re awake?"
"Yes." May bit her lip and finally gathered the courage to ask, "Vincent, are you hiding something from me?"
Vincent looked a bit hesitant, clearly not expecting May to ask so suddenly. After a pause, he quickly sat by the bed, reached out to touch her cheek, and smiled to reassure her: "It’s nothing, just work-related stuff."
May anxiously glared at him, asking, "Didn’t you already resign as CEO of the Vance Group? How can there be work-related stuff?"
Even if there was, there’s no reason for him to hide it from me, right?
"Logan is just acting in my place; without my approval, many things can’t be done, so it’s impossible for me to completely unwind." Vincent shook his head helplessly, feigning a tired sigh: "I guess this is just my fate, can’t even spend quality time with my wife."
May squinted her eyes slightly, focused on his face, and asked coldly, "So you have to go back tomorrow morning, right?"
"Yes, I’ve already asked Jacob Jennings to prepare the plane. He’ll come to Crestwood to pick us up early tomorrow." Vincent said confidently.
May’s heart skipped a beat. The more she thought about it, the more it didn’t feel right. What does he mean by this? Eager to send me home?
Could it be that something happened in Crestwood?
Grandma?
