CH.661 Empire Facts and Judgment of the Light packs

Today began with our final visit to the area of the Empire that suffered the heatwave.

Lua and I have visited multiple times after we brought Pele to HomeBase and we’ve gotten everything mostly back to order. We even brought Cailie and Myla a few times. Cailie summoned the Superior Spirit of Nature Hegemone, while both she and Myla also summoned some Aromas to help heal nature. The parts that weren’t healed by the Rains of Mercy Lua and I’ve been activating.

Because of everything we had done, we had become quite well known in the area. And very appreciated.

I especially had a pseudo myth about me going on. That is because I had been using different races when I came here. It was just training to be honest, but apparently because of that some call me a spirit of beast-folk or something like that.

I mean, they don’t know that I can just swap races. The Empire doesn’t have nearly as many Factory VR pods as the Kingdoms do. In the three Kingdoms, every guild has at least 1, most have 2, large ones have 4 or more. And there are also the few dedicated Factory VR shops in the largest cities.

But the Empire only has three shops, one in the capital and two others in the next two largest cities. So the people in the Empire can’t just jump in.

That is because the Empire’s adventurer situation is quite different. There are adventurer like jobs, but they are handled by a job agency of sorts. It is both better and worse than the adventurers’ guild.

It manages people and resources better, but it pays a bit less than adventuring and it lacks the freedom that comes from being an adventurer. But in return the Empire’s system has advantages like easy access to good equipment. Balanced, though forced, teams. And support in case you get sick or injured.

So in the Kingdoms you have the chance for quick riches. But only if you are super lucky or just high leveled to begin with. But in the Empire you have much steadier progression, great ‘level 1’ gear, and you don’t have to pay for everything out of pocket. And the Empire does have better life expectancy as well. So you tell me which is better.

One more thing about the Empire. As I said, they offered me a noble title for my help with the situation and I did accept. I did find out if it would cause issues and the short answer is no.

The long is that it might cause a ‘rank war’ if I was higher ranked in the Empire than I was in Ruiso Kingdom, so I will soon-ish be made into a Baron in the Empire. And that will hopefully help with setting up more Factory VR shops there.

----------------------------------------

After getting the last things done in the Empire, I’m feeling more packs.

Judgment of the Light is the only set I’ve yet to fully complete, so we are doing that. Well, there are some reprint sets I need to check through, but I’m pretty sure I have everything from them already. Just not from the reprint set but from the set the cards were actually released in.

But let’s get to the packs. 20 of Judgment of the Light coming up.

Spoiler

JOTL 1

Armageddon Designator; Spell Recycler; Kujakujaku; Fishborg Archer; Bujingi Wolf; Bujingi Ophidian; The Atmosphere; Traptrix Nepenthes; Archfiend Palabyrinth

[collapse]

Bujingi Ophidian is somehow the only new card. Surprising considering this is just the eleventh pack I’ve opened of Judgment of the Light. And it is alright. Discard so a Bujin can attack directly might not be the greatest, but it serves it purpose.

Next pack.

Spoiler

JOTL 2

Umbral Horror Will o' the Wisp; The Atmosphere; Xyz Reception; Armageddon Designator; Bujinfidel; Bujin Regalia - The Sword; Xyz Revenge Shuffle; Star Seraph Scout; V Salamander

[collapse]

Bujin Regalia - The Sword is strange. It isn’t a bad card but why is it named ‘The Sword’? It is all utility and no attack. Shouldn’t something called ‘Bujin Regalia - The Sword’ give an attack boost or some other battle related effect, not GY recovery or returning a banished monster to the GY? Or is that just me?

Next pack.

Spoiler

JOTL 3

Xyz Agent; Super Defense Robot Monki; Junk Blader; Kujakujaku; Bujinfidel; Star Seraph Sage; Schwarzschild Limit Dragon; Xyz Revenge Shuffle; Mecha Phantom Beast Warbluran

[collapse]

Schwarzschild Limit Dragon is pretty nice. I mean it is just Rank 8 material, but that doesn’t make it bad.

And Mecha Phantom Beast Warbluran is a Tuner that summons a token when used for a Synchro summon. Where have I heard that before? Well, Doppelwarrior isn’t actually a Tuner, but it is basically the same.

Next pack.

Spoiler

JOTL 4

Cheepcheepcheep; Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Caribou; Junk Blader; Reverse Glasses; Armageddon Designator; Xyz Revenge Shuffle; Xyz Reception; Super Defense Robot Monki; Corrupted Keys

[collapse]

Corrupted Keys is kind of cool. You get 3 tokens all with the same attack as an Xyz monster you control. That is potentially a lot of attack points you can summon with 1 trap.

Next pack.

Spoiler

JOTL 5

Kujakujaku; Bujingi Turtle; Spell Recycler; Junk Blader; Super Defense Robot Elephan; Star Seraph Sage; Umbral Horror Ghoul; Xyz Agent; Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Boar

[collapse]

Super Defense Robot Elephan is stupid. It is level 8 with a ‘when normal summoned’ effect, and that effect only allows you to special summon from the hand, not the deck. Add to that the fact that you can only use it for Machine Xyz summonings and it just isn’t worth it.

Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Boar is fine. It is a battle floated for Brotherhood of the Fire Fist which isn’t bad.

Next pack.

Spoiler

JOTL 6

Cheepcheepcheep; Sonic Boom; Ice Princess Zereort; Bujingi Wolf; Bujin Regalia - The Sword; Interceptomato; Star Seraph Sword; Coach Captain Bearman; V Salamander

[collapse]

Sonic Boom is kind of like a shitty Limiter Removal, but I suppose it does give piercing damage. And you can always stack the two cards. And since the normal Mecha Phantom Beast monsters can’t be destroyed when you control a Mecha Phantom Beast Token, it is actually pretty good for the archetype. But Limiter Removal is still better.

… and now that I think of it, you might not want to stack the two. Because the first one that triggers would kill all your tokens and then the second would kill all your monsters. So just stick to Limiter Removal.

Next pack.

Spoiler

JOTL 7

Interceptomato; Xyz Reversal; Cheepcheepcheep; Umbral Horror Unform; Fencing Fire Ferret; Armageddon Designator; Shark Caesar; Super Defense Robot Lio; Bujingi Crane

[collapse]

Shark Caesar. … why? Like it isn’t bad, but why does it gain the attack during the damage step only? Yeah it doesn’t matter any other time, but still. Just let it have huge attack whenever it wants.

Super Defense Robot Lio is fine enough but I still want one of these Super Defense Robots to summon something from the deck.

And Bujingi Crane is the Honest or Kalut of the Bujin archetype. So it is nice.

Next pack.

Spoiler

JOTL 8

Xyz Agent; Bujingi Turtle; Umbral Horror Ghoul; The Atmosphere; Shark Caesar; Ice Princess Zereort; Mecha Phantom Beast Harrliard; Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Caribou; Number 104: Masquerade

[collapse]

And pack 18 is officially the first ‘nothing new here’ pack for Judgment of the Light. I guess that is pretty decent.

Next pack.

Spoiler

JOTL 9

Bujingi Ophidian; Junk Blader; Ice Princess Zereort; Xyz Reception; Mecha Phantom Beast Coltwing; The Atmosphere; Bujingi Warg; Number C39: Utopia Ray Victory; Number 102: Star Seraph Sentry

[collapse]

And after a nothing new pack, I get two technically new cards.

Number C39: Utopia Ray Victory and Number 102: Star Seraph Sentry were both already in my Collection, but not the ones from this set. So yeah, they are kind of nice. Victory can run over anything in battle and Star Seraph Sentry weakens stuff and negates their effects.

Next pack.

Spoiler

JOTL 10

Cheepcheepcheep; Spell Recycler; Junk Blader; Sargasso Lighthouse; Sargasso the D.D. Battlefield; Black and White Wave; Star Seraph Sage; Xyz Agent; Archfiend Emperor, the First Lord of Horror

[collapse]

Well, Sargasso the D.D. Battlefield is new. It is absolute trash for me and I won’t be using it. Outside of the Xyz tournament where I’ll likely be using it just to enhance my villain role.

I’ll probably still make a Factory room with it. Sure the Xyz monsters will avoid it like the plague, but it might be interesting for training.

Next pack.

Spoiler

JOTL 11

Sargasso the D.D. Battlefield; Flying "C"; Armageddon Designator; Kujakujaku; Vertical Landing; Bujingi Ophidian; Bujingi Warg; Reverse Glasses; Archfiend Heiress

[collapse]

Archfiend Heiress searches when destroyed by battle. Which is slow but still at least something.

Next pack.

Spoiler

JOTL 12

Xyz Reversal; Reverse Glasses; Schwarzschild Limit Dragon; Umbral Horror Unform; Umbral Horror Ghoul; Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Caribou; Xyz Revenge Shuffle; Umbral Horror Will o' the Wisp; DZW - Chimera Clad

[collapse]

DZW - Chimera Clad is nice. Battle destruction immunity, lowering the attack of something to 0 and double attacking. All really good stuff.

Next pack.

Spoiler

JOTL 13

Ice Princess Zereort; Interceptomato; Mecha Phantom Beast Coltwing; Bujingi Turtle; Vertical Landing; Super Defense Robot Lio; Umbral Horror Ghoul; Umbral Horror Will o' the Wisp; Archfiend Cavalry

[collapse]

Archfiend Cavalry is nice. GY resurrection when it is destroyed by a card effect is good.

Next pack.

Spoiler

JOTL 14

The Calibrator; Googly-Eyes Drum Dragon; Bujin Regalia - The Sword; Xyz Revenge Shuffle; Traptrix Nepenthes; Mecha Phantom Beast Harrliard; Super Defense Robot Monki; Armageddon Designator; Number 104: Masquerade

[collapse]

Googly-Eyes Drum Dragon is fine, but I hate its name. And I hate the fact that it is trying to be a good payoff for the garbage that is the Super Defense Robot archetype. Sure a 4k attacker is nice, but you can get way more way easier with literally any other rank 8 monster.

Next pack.

Spoiler

JOTL 15

Mecha Phantom Beast Coltwing; Kujakujaku; Bujingi Turtle; Bujinfidel; Sargasso the D.D. Battlefield; Bujingi Wolf; Vertical Landing; DZW - Chimera Clad; Number C39: Utopia Ray Victory

[collapse]

And now I got Utopia Ray Victory as an ultimate rare. Would have preferred a different ultimate rare but this is fine enough.

Next pack.

Spoiler

JOTL 16

Bujinfidel; Cheepcheepcheep; Bujin Regalia - The Sword; Bujingi Wolf; Single Purchase; Umbral Horror Unform; Xyz Revenge Shuffle; Bujingi Warg; Traptrix Atrax

[collapse]

Traptrix Atrax allows the activation of Hole Traps from the hand, and Hole Traps can’t be negated. So that is pretty good.

Next pack.

Spoiler

JOTL 17

Bujin Regalia - The Sword; Xyz Revenge Shuffle; Junk Blader; Kujakujaku; Bujingi Ophidian; The Atmosphere; Googly-Eyes Drum Dragon; Spell Recycler; Number 104: Masquerade

[collapse]

Nothing new here. Also, can I stop getting Masquerades? I have six of them already.

Next pack.

Spoiler

JOTL 18

Star Seraph Sword; Interceptomato; Sargasso the D.D. Battlefield; Super Defense Robot Elephan; Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Caribou; Googly-Eyes Drum Dragon; Fencing Fire Ferret; Xyz Revenge Shuffle; DZW - Chimera Clad

[collapse]

Nothing new here, next.

Spoiler

JOTL 19

Armageddon Designator; Reverse Glasses; Kujakujaku; Bujingi Turtle; Sargasso Lighthouse; Xyz Revenge Shuffle; Umbral Horror Ghoul; Googly-Eyes Drum Dragon; Underworld Fighter Balmung

[collapse]

Underworld Fighter Balmung is fine-ish. It really should trigger off of any destruction, not just card effect, but it is still fine.

Next, and last, pack.

Spoiler

JOTL 20

The Calibrator; The Atmosphere; Bujingi Wolf; Traptrix Nepenthes; Bujingi Ophidian; Super Defense Robot Monki; Cheepcheepcheep; Archfiend Emperor, the First Lord of Horror; Traptrix Trap Hole Nightmare

[collapse]

And a super rare is a great place to end. Traptrix Trap Hole Nightmare negates the effect of a monster special summon this turn, and destroys the monster. Which is kind of useless for me, but for TCG use, it is pretty decent.
