CH.671 Devices for Demons

Once back on HomeBase, I began to look into the demon wasps. But as it turns out, I didn’t have to. They simply cannot live outside of the imp body in this world. And they could never infect a human, or anyone with the System, as the miasma resistance the System gives makes them unable to get the miasma they need to live.

That does leave the possibility that there is a variant of them that can live in this world, but at least direct copies are impossible.

I sent out a memo about the imps on the guild communicator network and asked if anyone had reported something similar. I also published the same in the Factory.

Cailie also went for a visit to the spirit world. I wanted to know if there were any mind control bugs there, and Cailie visits her adoptive spirit mother from time to time anyway. So while she does that, she can also check some of the spirits for signs of mind control.

Luckily everything there seemed fine, so I didn’t have to worry about two worlds getting mind controlled.

And no, I’m not worried about something like that happening with the Factory. If someone actually tried to mind controls someone who is using the Factory, something that was tested to be Janina proof, they wouldn't be able to. … okay, Janina can actually influence the soul of someone using the Factory, but not without setting off seventeen different alerts. So if some sort of soul influence is attempted, I'll have a direct line to the perpetrator, and I'll be able to trap their soul in the Factory.

----------------------------------------

Next up, the aerosol cans and anti-mind control devices I promised.

Making them was easy. Making them so that they’d work in the demon world was a bit more challenging. Not for the aerosol cans, but the AMC devices.

I had to make them so that they can be used in the strange mana and miasma atmosphere of the demon world, while also allowing them to somehow function.

Luckily I had a breakthrough pretty quickly. And all I had to do was look into the miasma coin I got. Because it was really the key to this whole thing.

Not because the device would need to use them, but because it could make them. The miasma of the demon world is really fucked up. As they said, it is poisonous to demons. But regular miasma is necessary food for them.

So I looked at how the coin was made from that poisonous miasma, and it was actually really easy. The coin had a creation energy ‘shell’ and a miasma treat inside of it. But more on that in a bit.

That led me to believe that what poisoned the demon world was creation energy. And it does make sense.

During the time of the demon king, the dimensional walls around the world … actually, maybe only on this continent. But the dimensional walls of this continent were weak as anything. So it is definitely possible that some Chaos God Energy leaked into the demon world. And since the demon world has no way of getting rid of it, it slowly poisoned the atmosphere and the miasma of the demon world.

Sadly that was still just a theory as I didn’t take any of the poisoned miasma with me from the demon world. But luckily the trip there and back with Janina took no time at all, and I now had the samples I needed.

And it confirmed my theory.

The demon world miasma has basically formed these spherical shapes. It has a tiny piece of creation energy in the center, and it is surrounded by miasma. Thus when a demon consumes it, the usually unabsorbable creation energy is absorbed with the miasma. And after the miasma is used, it leaves the creation energy stuck in the demon's body, slowly poisoning them with creation energy.

Luckily breaking the sphere structure wasn’t difficult. You just had to grind it with a millstone, like one used to crush grain into flour. And that also happens to release energy, energy that I can use to power spells. So I made a device that grinds down the miasma spheres, separates the miasma and creation energy into something that can be put to use, but also casts a Soul Magic spell that releases the soul from any sort of control it might be under.

Sadly it had one issue. It had to be manually powered to suck in miasma, as well as the grinding part. Basically, you’d have to crank it.

But that is also a good thing. The device produces miasma and creation energy. Thus I can put those two materials to use. By producing miasma coins. And since it is the currency of the demon world, there should be plenty of demons willing to crank the device for a payout.

Now a bit more about the coins. The miasma coins aren’t actually metal. They are a kind of hard candy made of miasma. Each contains 250 to 330 units worth of miasma. In comparison my miasma stones have 3000. So not quite miasma cookies, but the same idea. Edible and delicious miasma.

The coin’s surface is actually a wrapper of sorts, made of creation energy. A pure form of creation energy that cannot be absorbed by a demon’s body, thus it just passes through their body without causing any damage. So an edible wrapper of sorts. It lets the miasma be absorbed, but since the creation energy is pure and not contained inside the miasma, it isn’t.

At least that is what I think. I need to see the Demon God’s device to tell for 100% certainty.

I do hope the Demon God likes them. Sure I can always redesign the things, but I’d rather not if I don’t have to. I’m actually quite proud of them.

And if the Demon God thinks they produce too many coins for too little work, I can always have it leak the pure miasma out, instead of solidifying it into the miasma coins. Though that might cause problems with the creation energy, so it is a difficult balancing act. I guess it could only pay out like half of the coins, the other half could be teleported to the Demon God.

But I’ll try to talk with him before I make any final decisions.

Oh, and the aerosol cans were easy. I just made a can of pressurized air that I installed Eradicating Aerosol into. Sure it is a bit costly when it comes to cards, but I have enough Pack Tokens. And sure the number of cards I need is a lot, but the production cost is basically nothing, so it balances out.

I’ll take all of my new things to the demon world soon. I’ll just have Hope arrange a meeting with the Demon God first, so that he can approve of them.

And while I wait for that, I think it is time for some packs.

----------------------------------------

And since I’m using Eradicating Aerosol copies, how about the set they come from. Gold Series 4.

… which I’ve not actually opened a single pack of. So how do I have Eradicating Aerosol you may ask? Well, I got Gold Series 4 at the same time as I got a bunch of other sets, so it was just kind of left to be. And Laura noticed that it had some cards I didn’t have, and had noticed that I was just ignoring the set, so she dealt with the issue on her own.

Not by fully completing the set, but by using Capsules to get copies of the cards I didn’t yet have. So even though she did that behind my back, I don’t really blame her as at least she used the scalpel approach, not the sledgehammer approach.

But let’s open five or ten packs and see what is in Gold Series 4. And maybe I’ll do some of 3 and 2 as well. Still yet to open any of those packs as well. And some other reprint sets.

Spoiler

GLD4 1

Radiant Jeral; Soul Exchange; White-Horned Dragon; Diabolos, King of the Abyss; Robbin' Goblin; Orichalcos Shunoros; Millennium Shield; Magic Formula; Goddess with the Third Eye; Prometheus, King of the Shadows; Xing Zhen Hu; Skull Dice; Recurring Nightmare; Meltiel, Sage of the Sky; Trade-In; Goddess of Whim; Eradicating Aerosol; Sword of Dark Rites; Injection Fairy Lily; Toon Dark Magician Girl; Genesis Dragon; Sage's Stone; Doomcaliber Knight; Spirit Reaper; Royal Oppression

[collapse]

And this is why I never bothered with this set. Everything but the Aerosol has been in another set. But still, 25 cards for 1 reprint token is really efficient for my card economy.

Next pack.

Spoiler

GLD4 2

Radiant Jeral; White-Horned Dragon; Robbin' Goblin; Toon Dark Magician Girl; The Wicked Worm Beast; Sword of Dark Rites; Genesis Dragon; Versago the Destroyer; Magic Formula; Beastking of the Swamps; Pendulum Machine; Mormolith; Injection Fairy Lily; Orichalcos Shunoros; Skull Dice; Diabolos, King of the Abyss; Eradicating Aerosol; Goddess with the Third Eye; Meltiel, Sage of the Sky; Xing Zhen Hu; Millennium Shield; Prometheus, King of the Shadows; Royal Oppression; Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning; Doomcaliber Knight

[collapse]

Pendulum Machine is another one I didn’t have. Not that it is any good. I mean it is just a vanilla Dark Machine with terrible stats considering that it is a level 6.

Next pack.

Spoiler

GLD4 3

Goddess with the Third Eye; Deck Devastation Virus; Injection Fairy Lily; Sage's Stone; Millennium Shield; Meltiel, Sage of the Sky; Versago the Destroyer; Mormolith; Sword of Dark Rites; Magic Formula; Xing Zhen Hu; Robbin' Goblin; Eternal Drought; Beastking of the Swamps; Diabolos, King of the Abyss; Skull Dice; Recurring Nightmare; The Wicked Worm Beast; Goddess of Whim; White-Horned Dragon; Radiant Jeral; Trade-In; Celestia, Lightsworn Angel; Morphing Jar; Obelisk the Tormentor

[collapse]

Eternal Drought is the next card I didn’t have. Well, Laura got it for me, but technically it is a new pull. It kills all Fish-type monsters, so it can be useful in some situations.

Also, a casual God pull with Obelisk the Tormentor.

Next pack.

Spoiler

GLD4 4

And nothing here either. So I was ‘missing’ three cards that were first printed in Gold Series 4. And two of them were actually good.

Now, I still have some time, so I think I’ll do five more packs. But I’ll change to Gold Series 3.

And that was five packs of Gold Series 3. Sorry for no comments, I just didn’t have much to say.

Well, I have two things. First, Amazoness Chain Master is new, didn’t have it yet. Sadly it isn’t that good for my use, as my opponents won’t have monsters in their hands.

Also, Numbing Grub in the Ice Barrier is still totally an Ojama. So call it what it really is. An Ojama, Freezing in the Ice Barrier. And then change the artwork to match.

But I’ll call it here for today. Next time I’ll do more packs. Probably more reprints, but maybe also some Judgment of the Light or Shadow Specters depending on how I feel.
