CH.691 GENERIC PACK OPENING CHAPTER TITLE NUMBER #24

Today I’m again watching over the qualifiers. It is just something I do when I have not much else to do. There are some background things, but I’ll get to them later.

But honestly I was a bit bored just looking at people struggling with the game, so I pulled up Pack Opener and decided to open some packs. Like come on. It isn’t that difficult to take on a level 4 monster. Why are you even trying if you can’t do that?

Okay, I understand that the qualifiers are open for everyone, but there has to be a limit. And not like these guys can act as ‘strategy guides’ to the qualifiers since they don’t get far enough. And yes, there actually is one going around. Someone began working on one in the Factory library. They’ve been collecting info from the high leveled adventurers in the Hero’s country and have been writing it down for anyone to read. Not many do though. And no, I’m not going to remove it. This is an adventuring tournament. Research is a part of adventuring.

But yeah, back to packs. I don’t know how many I’ll open today, but I know the sets I’m going to open. and . I just feel like opening them since I’ve only opened 10 packs each.

And I’m starting with Duelist Alliance.

Chaos Seed recovers banished Dark or Light Warriors, which can be alright.

Performapal Skeeter Skimmer can negate an attack and switch to defense.

Batteryman 9-Volt is nice. Search and a double attack. Sure it destroys itself during the end phase, but it can’t be too good.

Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss can search during the end phase if it was sent to the GY this turn.

And Foucault's Cannon is a Normal Pendulum. The Pendulum effect is okay and the scale being 2 is also fine.

Stellarnova Wave is nice in the TCG. Additional summons of tellarknights are nice. But I don’t need it.

And Panzer Dragon is good. You can summon it with Instant Fusion and then get the pop when it is destroyed.

Pilgrim Reaper is really cool. I mean, I’m not the biggest fan of mill strategies, but when those strategies involve a monster that gains more attack and defense for each Dark monster in either players’ GY, it gets my interest.

Exchange of Night and Day is fine, searching is always nice, but I don’t need it.

Dogu is an interesting searcher. Sadly I don’t need searchers, I need special summons from the deck.

Got the Ghost Rare! Stellarknight Delteros is amazing. Not only does it offer protection when summoning monsters, it can pop monsters, and if you kill it, it specials a tellarknight from the deck. Or hand, but deck is more important.

Stellarknight Alpha is a really nice Equip Spell. 500 attack and defense boost might not be that much, but being unaffected by effects is amazing.

Also Shaddoll Falco. Already had it, but it is a great monster and new from the set.

Flash Knight is the next Normal Pendulum. And it doesn’t even have a Pendulum effect, so it is as vanilla as you can get. Scale 7 is nice enough as well.

U.A. Perfect Ace is nice. Easy to summon and has a negate. Can’t really ask for more. Well, higher stats would be nice.

Satellarknight Unukalhai mills a tellarknight when summoned. But I feel like a different Satellarknight already had that effect. Give me a sec, I need to check this.

… okay, so Satellarknight Procyon allows you to discard a tellarknight. So they aren’t actually the same. So yeah, Unukalhai is good. GY setup is nice.

Performapal Kaleidoscorp is fine. 300 attack boost if it acts as a Pendulum scale and as a monster, it can give a monster the ability to attack all special summoned monsters. Sadly the scale of 4 isn’t optimal, but whatever.

Pulao, Wind of the Yang Zing is good. I mean, anything that special summons stuff from the deck is. And it can Synchro summon during the opponent’s turn, and it gives a Synchro monster that was summoned with it complete Spell immunity. Just a great monster all around.

Breaker the Dark Magical Warrior is pretty nice. In a Pendulum deck that can summon level 6 monsters. In anything else it is bad. Also, you really should be allowed to use all 3 Spell Counters on one turn. Would make the monster even better.

Mozarta the Melodious Maestra is… okay. I don’t need to special summon, so it really just is a decent body. But music and sound based monsters are nice for stuff other than fights, so for that it will be useful.

Face-Off is a Counter Trap with very specific activation condition. It isn’t useless, but perhaps a bit too specific.

And nothing new here. Shame. Honestly speaking, this second 10 was awful. Only 1 higher rarity card from 10 packs is just bad. But I did get a handful of new cards, so … still bad.

Let’s change sets and do 10 more packs.

… Okay Towers. Okay. I’ll get to you in a second.

Shaddoll Hound I already had, but it is new from the set.

Oracle of the Herald is just a ritual spell. Sure it can’t be responded to, but that isn’t a huge boost.

And then there is Apoqliphort Towers. What can I say about it? Other than that it is completely busted! 3000 attack. Unaffected by Spells and Traps. And the effects of monsters unless they are higher leveled or ranked than this card. And it lowers the stats of any special summoned monsters by 500. And because that isn’t enough, it can once per turn force your opponent to send one of their monsters to the GY. And that isn’t a destruction effect, and it is the opponent who does it, so it goes around basically all protective effects.

Towers is overpowered and it is … or was, banned for a reason. I’m pretty sure it was unbanned only because master rule 4 screwed over Pendulum decks. And now I have it on my side, and I don’t even have to worry about that rule.

Oasis of Dragon Souls is kind of like a Monster Reborn. Except the monster resurrected is now a Wyrm. So that could be interesting, but maybe I shouldn’t use it on people.

Celestia is new. And it is the ‘generic Wyrm Field Spell’. It looks like some sort of galactic blackhole … thing. I’m not quite sure. But I’ll make a Factory room with it, and that might help.

Qlimate Change is fine. It helps you get Qlis back to hand, so you can setup your Pendulum scales if they were destroyed. But I’d like for it to have a GY effect, something like an additional normal summon or even an additional Pendulum summon.

And U.A. Midfielder is your average U.A. monster.

There is the Procyon I was thinking about earlier. Already had it, just worth mentioning.

And Alich, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss can negate effects if it is sent to the GY.

Fluffal Bear is nice. Either set a Toy Vendor or recover a Poly from the GY. Both are good effects.

Fluffal Rabbit recovers Edge Imp Sabers or a Fluffal monster when used as a Fusion material.

And Satellarknight Sirius is kind of like Pot of Avarice, but a bit worse since you only get to draw one card, not two.

Another ghost rare!? Nice! Even if it is Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon, which I already had. In fact, it was the very first reward I ever got from the Xyz challenge. Still a really cool card.

And Qliphort Shell is really good as well. The 300 attack drop when it is a Pendulum scale is nothing special, but the on field effects are nice. Immune to most effects and can attack twice. That is really good.

Punch-in-the-Box is actually a really powerful trap. Sure Mirror Force is better most of the time, but Punch-in-the-Box gets around effect destruction immunity.

Now, can I say, what was my luck? I got two ghost rares. Which is great. But in the last 20 packs, I only got two higher rarity cards. Which sucks.
