Now, after a few days of Pack Opener, I think it is about time for something more normal. … actually, Pack Opener is normal for me. Has been since day 1. But whatever.

So to something abnormal. And this actually is abnormal. As I’m making Janina’s birthday present. Or at least a small part of it.

See, I’ve had a shedding of Janina’s scales for a long time. I’ve just been afraid of working with them, since they are kind of difficult to work with. … okay, they were basically impossible when I first got them, but since then, Wilma and I have really managed to make them work.

And it began not with Janina’s scales. Again, way too difficult to work with. Instead, we began with scales from younger dragons, which contain a lot less mana, and are thus easier to work with.

That starting equipment we made was nice, but honestly nothing mind blowing. It does have some great attribute resistance towards the attributes those dragons had, so that is nice. But it has quite low durability compared to metal armor. But all dragon armors come with a special boost. You can have them drain the mana they hold instead of the durability.

‘Intermediate’ or young adult dragons were next after that. Their scales are a challenge, but not that bad when you know what you are doing. And armor made with their scales is nice. It starts to match up to full plate armor made of steel, when it comes to defense. Durability is still a bit low. But the mana instead of durability helps with that. And these things have really nice attribute resistances, up to 99% resistance. No immunities just yet, that comes next.

So with ‘greater’ dragons, or adult dragons as I usually call them. Their scales are a real challenge, even for us. We really need to focus on not breaking them. But in return, they offer stats better than mithril. Not quite legendary metal status, but they get very close. And they offer complete attribute immunity to the attribute the dragon is.

Our greatest success with those is the ASAR. Agunan Scale Armor for Ria.

It was a great piece that … actually, why am I telling you this? I can just show you the stats.

ASAR - Agunan Scale Armor for Ria Durability 2800/2800Mana 10,000/12,500 Defense +1200Dragon Scale Blessing Boost - +120% damage to Fire attribute MagicDragon Life Dedication Boost - +250% damage to Fire attribute MagicFire Immunity - 100% resistance to Fire and HeatWind Resistance - 67% damage reducedAttribute Magic Resistance - 90% damage reduced by attribute MagicNon-Attribute Magic Resistance - 40% damage reduced by non-attribute MagicMana before DurabilityOwner’s Seal: Rhianna, Brian Wood

A set of lean armor made of dragon scales from a greater true fire dragon. It was made to be used by Rhianna and can only be worn by her and the maker.

From the outside, the armor appears to be nothing more than a dark red shirt, pants and shoes made of stiff, scaly material. But despite being made of hard dragon scales, it feels extremely soft to wear, to the point where no undershirt or padding is needed underneath. Still recommended by the maker.

As the armor is made entirely from scales from one dragon, anyone whom the dragon has given their blessing to, or dedicated their life to, gains strength from the dragon, boosting their Fire Magic damage.

The armor offers complete immunity to Fire damage, and also complete resistance to all heat. It also offers resistance to all magic, but more to attribute magic, especially Wind Magic.

As it is made of dragon scales, the armor will drain its mana before its durability.

Made by Brian Wood and Wilhelmina.

So yeah. That’s the ASAR. The interesting part I think is the appearance. Dragon scales don’t make armor like you think of. The top really does look like a regular, long sleeved shirt. Just one with a scale pattern. Same with the pants. The boots do actually look like boots, styled after generic combat boots.

And yes, it is quite comfortable. Not as comfortable as clothes I can make, thus me recommending you wear something underneath, but you really don’t have to.

Also, when the armor isn’t on you, it becomes a lot more loose, basically like a regular shirt. This is because of the way we processed the dragon scales. When they aren’t filled with mana, the armor gets soft and no longer protects you. Yes that is a downside, but that way the armor doesn’t lose much durability even when out of mana. Dragon scale equipment is a pain to fix, so we wanted to prioritize it staying in one piece. And all of us have the mana to share.

But that is Ria’s armor, now let’s get to mine. And if you think hers is good, which admittedly it could be better if we made it differently, mine is going to be something else.

Janina’s scales are honestly a pain. You have to treat each as if it will shatter if you use too much force, while at the same time using enough force to actually form it. Oh, and you have to do all of that while having the scale keep the perfect mana level where it can be molded.

It is no wonder it took so long for me to be comfortable working with them.

And sure I have enough scales to make ten sets of armor for myself … okay, maybe even more, but not all scales are created equal. Ones coming from certain parts are the best for what we are doing. Specifically from the upper chest area of a dragon. For Janina, finding the scales from that area is a bit more difficult, but for regular dragons, finding those scales isn’t hard.

The reason those are the scales you want is because they have the soft inside, making them perfect for the style of armor we made. Sadly I can’t just turn platemail into a princess dress or magical girl outfit like Alice and Lua can. They don’t have to worry about comfort because their unique-racials are OP.

Anyway, to my dragon scale armor. And no, mine isn’t called the JSAB. It just doesn’t sound right. And besides, I’m sure Ria will name her armor something else, ASAR is just what Wilma and I call it.

Protection of Ami Durability 5200/5200Mana 18,000/30,000 Defense +2500Dragon Scale Blessing Boost - +150% damage to all MagicDragon Life Dedication Boost - +350% damage to all MagicProtection of the Soul - 100% resistance to Soul MagicBasic Magic Immunity - 100% resistance to all low tier spellsAttribute Magic Resistance - 98% damage reduced by attribute MagicNon-Attribute Magic Resistance - 88% damage reduced by non-attribute MagicMana before DurabilityOwner’s Seal: Brian Wood

A set of lean armor made of dragon scales from the Divine Dragon. It was made to be used by Brian Wood and can only be worn by him.

From the outside, the armor appears to be nothing more than a dark bronze shirt, pants and shoes made of stiff, scaly material. But despite being made of hard dragon scales, it feels extremely soft to wear, to the point where no undershirt or padding is needed underneath. Still recommended by the maker.

As the armor is made entirely from scales from one dragon, anyone whom the dragon has given their blessing to, or dedicated their life to, gains strength from the dragon, boosting their Magic damage.

The armor offers complete immunity to low tier spells and all Soul Magic. It also offers extremely high defense to all magic, but more to attribute magic.

As it is made of dragon scales, the armor will drain its mana before its durability.

Made by Brian Wood and Wilhelmina.

So yeah. That is mine. Oh, and that is just how it came naturally. Both Protection of Ami and ASAR can still be enchanted, we just need to run some tests before we do that. Don’t want to break them when we do. So Factory tests incoming.

Also, it is worth noting that Janina had begun feeding me one of her scales in order for me to gain her Dragon Scale Blessing. It should be complete around her 'birthday'. We actually now know her real birthday, thanks Memory Palace, but she decided not to change it, as her true birthday is the exact same as mine. And while we could share, Janina just went with the one we gave her.

Now, let’s move onto someone else. … actually, do my monsters count as ‘someone’, or are they something?

Well, anyway. I’m ranking up a few of my tamed and summonable monsters. Starting with my dear Rani. I’ve been growing her into a beautiful space horse, which she currently is, but eventually I want her to be able to traverse dimensions. So rank up time.

To get her towards that goal, I used Rank-Up-Magic Argent Chaos Force. It is the best I have when it comes to Space.

And with it, Rani ranked up from a C-rank Space Magic Horse into a B-rank Silver-Space Horse. Don’t really know why silver, but maybe that comes from the white mane.

Rani’s mane has always been blond, but not the almost pure white it now was. Even her skin paled into an off-white color. I didn’t realize I was turning her into a white horse, but that didn’t seem to bother Rani.

Glad, the dark-wing hippogriff, was next. Last time I ranked him with Barian’s Force, but this time I’m using Phantom Knights' Rank-Up-Magic Force.

Spoiler

That evolved Glad into another B-rank monster. A Phantom Hippogriff. It advanced his Dark Magic quite a bit, but there weren’t many other changes.

Aoi Koiru, my blue Wild Snake, got another Rank-Up-Magic Numeron Force used on her. And she evolved into a Forest Snake. Next time she ranks up I’ll really be able to start her path away from the common evolution line.

Then came Mothra. I’ve largely left her for others to take care of, not because I don’t like her, but just because she is … not as easy to do things with. She is a giant butterfly. Our interactions are mainly me feeding her, and training with our reverse union.

I’ve yet to rank her up after the Cocoon of Evolution experiment, but this will be the first time. And since she is light based, I used Rank-Up-Magic Cipher Ascension on her.

Spoiler

[collapse]

That let Mothra evolve into an S-rank Lightwave Rainbow Butterfly. Didn’t expect it to take the Cipher, or Saifā as it is in Japanese, and directly translate that to Lightwave. But it is an interesting name. Though admittedly Mothra really didn’t change much. She grew just a tiny bit larger and her wings became a bit more vibrant. They are also always shining, compared to before where they only shone while she put mana into them.

Or maybe Mothra is just leaking mana as she adjusts to her new power.

For summons, I only have one I can even rank up. Well, I could rank up Himeśaila, but I don’t think she is ready for it yet. So Luna got a rank up. Rank-Up-Magic Raptor's Force.

Spoiler

[collapse]

Yes, I had to modify the Raptor's Force so that it could be used on Luna without her having to die first, but that was a quick process. And it allowed her to evolve from a B-rank blood moon owl to a Moon-Force Owl. Still B-rank.

Spoiler

[collapse]

It really isn’t as impressive as it sounds. But Luna can use both Light and Dark Magics now, so … make of that what you want. Maybe I need to give her the Cipher treatment next time. Or perhaps just Numeron Force so she can keep on this Light and Darkness path.

But yeah. That is it for now. See you next time.
